The saddest thing about this movie is that Thomas Haden Church’s fantastic performance is so underrated bc so many Spider-Man fans hate Spider-Man 3 and thus overlook how great he was as a sympathetic villain.
I loved how the raimi villains were sympathetic and you felt bad for them. They did screw the pooch on Eddie Brock’s character though. They developed his character too fast and made him evil before the symbiote was attached to him. Sandman is low key one of the best parts of the film.
Sandman (along with Raimi's Doc Ock & Green Goblin) is the best on screen Spider-Man villain imo. He's a flawed & tragic but sympathetic character who does the wrong things for the right reasons. He's a good man at heart. Thomas Haden Church nails this performance and really makes Sandman as great a character as he is. Unfortunately, I haven't seen Thomas Haden Church in many movies since _Spider-Man 3_ , which is a crime. I'm dying to see him come back in _No Way Home_ , but at the same time, I don't know how they will make him a villain or a sympathetic character without undoing his _Spider-Man 3_ character ark (unless it's the MCU's version of Sandman). Sandman's birth scene and this scene both make me cry. _Spider-Man 3_ is almost perfect, except for the dance scene (which is hilarious, but doesn't fit) and the inclusion of Venom. Without those two things, I believe _Spider-Man 3_ would have been as good as (possibly better than) the masterpiece _Spider-Man 2_ . It rarely ever goes well when studios step in, and after countless years, they still haven't learned. _The Amazing Spider-Man 2_ , _Suicide Squad_ (2016), and _Josstice League_ are prime examples of that unfortunate reality.

When Flint accidentally shot Ben, you can see the shock on his face and how he says ‘No…’ he was shocked and horrified by what he did. That makes you realize that if Peter did stop that robber, he wouldn’t have startled Flint which would’ve saved Ben. As for Harry, he was resentful of Peter because of how his father liked him more than his own son. When he believed that Norman was killed by Spider-Man, he was struggling between running his father’s company and his revenge. When he discovered that Peter was Spider-Man, he didn’t want to hurt him, but his father’s words convinced him. He became the New Goblin to get his revenge, he attempted to break Peter by having MJ break up with him. Peter was under the influence of the symbiote, so he swiftly defeated Harry. In the end when MJ was kidnapped by Sandman and Venom, Peter came to Harry for help, which he refused, but after hearing the truth and words of wisdom from his butler, Harry realized that his friends needed him. Together, Spider-Man and New Goblin defeated Sandman, but when Venom had Peter at his mercy and the blades of Harry’s glider ready for the kill, Harry himself threw himself into the path of the glider as the blades impaled him. Harry sacrificed himself to save his best friend and in his dying moments, Harry forgave him. It was no doubt in our mind that Harry Osborn, the New Goblin sacrificed himself to save Spider-Man, he died a Hero.

How do you know he's even in the movie ? Seriously I think that people take the word of rumors way too much. If you keep doing that you'll set your expectations too high.
This is I think really symbolizes that Sandman came from where Peter came from. Just a guy trying to make it financially and do right for himself and his family. Just got caught in some unfortunate circumstances. Spider Man 3 is an underrated End to an amazing Trilogy
Enough to make the toughest man cry like a baby. So many things happening here. The power of forgiviness, the weight of the anger and guilt being taken away because of that, the lesson to be always a better person. Everything in this scene is incredible and it really touches the heart.
"I didn't choose to be this". The pain and saddness in voice when he says that shows just how much of a tortured soul he is. He didn't want to turn to a life of crime, but he felt he had no other choice. So profound.
After Spiderman 3 I didn't care that Peter didn't stop the robber in the first film, because he didn't kill Uncle Ben, but it recently dawned on me that stopping him would've saved Uncle Ben's life, because then he wouldn't have ran up behind Flint, startling him and causing him to accidentally fire the gun in the process.
It still taught Peter responsibility. And it ultimately falls on Peter for going to that wrestling match and his fault for not listening to uncle Ben. Peter learned a lot in the Rami Trilogy, responsibility, identity, and forgiveness.
@@Stiggs-bu2fz yea Tobey Maguire,s spider man is the most realistic cause you can relate to his character so much like you been through what he,s been through thats why his spiderman is the best his is the most realistic.
Thomas Hayden Church had the best acting performance. I cried when Peter is finally to forgive sandman's confession and fades away in the sunrise. Poor sandman, he may be a villain but doesn't mean he's a bad person, he was just a normal guy who had a bad luck wanted to save his daughter from her illness, just like Peter living throughout the hard times balancing his alter-ego and for himself. Edit: this is by far his best performance of all his movies and the ending is a bittersweet perfection to end the trilogy. "Come back Tobey, we really missed you!"
This is what I love about Spider-Man 3, despite it's issues. Marco was an unfortunate villain, he was an accidental murderer and only wanted to save his daughter. But bad actions are done with the best intentions. The morality in Ben's murder becomes blurred. In a way, it's a cautionary tale of not understanding both sides of a story.
Harry’s death broke my heart 😭💔 he died a hero and died as Peter’s best friend not his enemy Peter apologising to him and saying he never should’ve hurt him or said the things he said just proves how much he regrets everything and Harry forgiving him and telling him that he always will be his friend despite their rivalry because he knows Peter valued their friendship is really sad because he dies a best friend not a villain that Peter Parker hated and was against 😢
When he tells Peter that Ben tried to help him, you can tell it hits home for Peter because the helpful fatherly advice is exactly what and how he would have said it and he hasn’t heard his Uncle’s voice in years.
The green goblin was just an evil sociopath who tried to turn spiderman evil but spiderman isnt evil dr octavious just wanted to build a machine and it backfired got his wife killed the his claws controlled him made him into a mad scientsit sand man marko was just trying to save his daughter and eddie brock just hated peter for taking his job and girlfriend i mean eddie wasnt the best villan of this trilogy i think dr octavios and green goblin were.
The Sandman was a tragic character, despite all the power he had, he was just a common thief, who was wanted to save his daughter. He really wasn't a bad person, just made poor decisions trying to save his daughter.
“I’ve done terrible things too” These aren’t terrible things but how he survived from… - avoided norman osborn’s glider. - talked Otto octavious out of it. - couldn’t save Eddie brocks life.
I think Peter's talking about his time as a host to the Symbiote. From permanently scarring Harry's face to straining his relationship with Mary Jane. He could also be talking about the night Uncle Ben was shot and how he didn't stop the robber when he had the chance.
The new ones did teach some lessons. I thought the lesson Tony was teaching Peter in “Homecoming” was perfect. Especially when Peter says “I’m nothing without this suit” an Tony says “if your nothing without this suit then you shouldn’t have it” then Peter learns from that. Samething in “Far from home” when Peter is trying so hard to fill in Iron mans shoes. When really he just needed to be Spider-Man his OWN hero an be better. Andrew Garfields Spidey flims had some lessons too. Every Spidey flim has a or valuable life lessons.
@@TheKira708 He has superpowers without that suit. Disney just want to make drama out of the situation to make it look difficult. @@reianvase6683 yeah I know....he has powers without the suit but the overall *Message* an moral of the story that the movie was trying to make is. If you think your NOTHING without something, then you shouldn’t have something.
Despite its flaws, I consider this movie as a good film overall and a solid ending to the trilogy. Sandman's confession and Harry's death make me tear up all the time. All three core characters: Peter, MJ and Harry go through well fleshed out arcs and it all comes to a satisfying end here. I wish we could have gotten Spider-Man 4 but perhaps ending it here was a good thing.
Harry wanted revenge blaming Peter for killing his dad (that he never did) Harry apologize for his anger and forgave Peter Peter wanted to kill sandman for killing his uncle Peter felt sorry for sandman and forgave him Peter destroyed Eddies life and took his girlfriend so Eddie wanted revenge and that led him to his death and that destroyed him self And Peter was giving into his hate and the symbiotic suit was also destroying him very slowly with power and anger (that also made him cruel to his friends and loved ones) then he took off his suit and made everything right with those people close to him I like the moral of Spider-Man 3 and how it finish’s the trilogy
he had right to be cruel at he harry he made mj break up with him and to mj also had right to be cruel he break up with him and just leave and why to forgive sandman who in the final battle would have killed him like his uncle?
I remember seeing this when I was 8 and even though it wasn't that great, it definitely affected me. Seeing Harry die and Peter and MJ crying I saw how fragile life was even at eight years old ad how strong familial and brotherly love was. I was at the movie theater with my brother and father and even though my brother had pissed me off, I gave him all my tokens at the arcade to win some prizes after we left the theater and told him to go nuts.
There has never been a movie that had made me cry but this movie here....this scene is the one right here that will always make me shed a tear no matter how old i am
Sandman's Actor and face...reminds me/looks like of my father's face, me and my dad used to played and pertended to be Spidey and Sandman, and this day i feel bad about his sick daughter, i'm starting crying too much how much he reminds me of my father.
This movie main theme was "Forgiveness" The way Sandman fades away after Peter forgives him, like all of Peter's anger and hatred is gone. It's forgiveness that bring you peace, not vengeance. Also in the end, Harry died peacefully after he forgives Peter.
Eddie got issues from the start, telling lies about Peter to Spidey, JJJ, being overconfident. He must've had a bad past or smth or maybe just don't know how to deal with insecurities related to getting into a career. His actions were wrong but there were also some unfortunates. If he met Tobey instead of Bully Maguire, tobey would prolly give him a chance and not end his career.
The hardest thing you could ever say to someone is that you forgive them, especially when you forgive someone that has done something terrible to you; yet, forgiveness is better than revenge.
Norman Osborn: “Don’t tell Harry” Otto Octavius: “I will not die a monster” Flint Marko: “I’m not asking you to forgive me. I just want you to understand.” These villains ruined me as a kid.
When hes talking to sandman that part really hits hes just standing there wondering what he should do next. Flint didnt know what was gona happen next either, so he finally gives pete the answers hes been searching for. Expecting a fight, but peter forgives him. Shit is wild
In the first Spider-man movie, Tobey was only 26, yet, looking at him. He felt exactly like a dorky high school boy like ones I knew in school. But in this movie, I hardly see that. I see a grown man.
The three actors did a wonderful job in that scene when Harry dies, these three have been friends since high school and the love triangle between the three so many emotions between them great scene.

Very true.
At first it was thought to be the robber who did but yeah it definitely wasn't it
It still taught Peter responsibility.
There is a probability he may come alongside Tom Holland and Andrew Garfield.
They'll be back in No Way Home.

@@fardeenfaraaz4948 from what I understand Toby is appearing
@@ericsantana1184 thanks for the confirmation.
Can we just appreciate Christopher Young who scored this film as well ❤️
With Danny Elfman working on the previous 2 too!
Harry’s death broke my heart 😭💔 he died a hero and died as Peter’s best friend not his enemy Peter apologising to him and saying he never should’ve hurt him or said the things he said just proves how much he regrets everything and Harry forgiving him and telling him that he always will be his friend despite their rivalry because he knows Peter valued their friendship is really sad because he dies a best friend not a villain that Peter Parker hated and was against 😢
👍
When he tells Peter that Ben tried to help him, you can tell it hits home for Peter because the helpful fatherly advice is exactly what and how he would have said it and he hasn’t heard his Uncle’s voice in years.
If he said in the end "you are my brother" this is going to more emotional.
Nah thats too much lol
you really want us to cry so hard??

“I’ve done terrible things too”
These aren’t terrible things but how he survived from…
- avoided norman osborn’s glider.
This will always make me tear up more than iron man’s death
The trilogy teaches life lessons.
New spiderman movies teaches jokes.
I hope NWH gets more serious
The new ones did teach some lessons. I thought the lesson Tony was teaching Peter in “Homecoming” was perfect. Especially when Peter says “I’m nothing without this suit” an Tony says “if your nothing without this suit then you shouldn’t have it” then Peter learns from that. Samething in “Far from home” when Peter is trying so hard to fill in Iron mans shoes. When really he just needed to be Spider-Man his OWN hero an be better. Andrew Garfields Spidey flims had some lessons too. Every Spidey flim has a or valuable life lessons.
@@TheKira708 Mcu spider man is like iron boy jr
@@TheKira708 He has superpowers without that suit. Disney just want to make drama out of the situation to make it look difficult.
Real struggle is when you know things are hopeless and you have no one to rely but yourself. This is why the new spiderman movies are just for spoiled or "entitled" people.
@@reianvase6683 yeah I know....he has powers without the suit but the overall *Message* an moral of the story that the movie was trying to make is. If you think your NOTHING without something, then you shouldn’t have something.
“My Daughter was dying, I needed money, I was scared” My heart breaks every time 🥺😢
Despite its flaws, I consider this movie as a good film overall and a solid ending to the trilogy. Sandman's confession and Harry's death make me tear up all the time. All three core characters: Peter, MJ and Harry go through well fleshed out arcs and it all comes to a satisfying end here. I wish we could have gotten Spider-Man 4 but perhaps ending it here was a good thing.
Facts this is why Raimi's Spiderman films will always be the best
Harry wanted revenge blaming Peter for killing his dad (that he never did)
Harry apologize for his anger and forgave Peter
Peter wanted to kill sandman for killing his uncle
Peter felt sorry for sandman and forgave him
Peter destroyed Eddies life and took his girlfriend so Eddie wanted revenge and that led him to his death and that destroyed him self
And Peter was giving into his hate and the symbiotic suit was also destroying him very slowly with power and anger (that also made him cruel to his friends and loved ones) then he took off his suit and made everything right with those people close to him
I like the moral of Spider-Man 3 and how it finish’s the trilogy
he had right to be cruel at he harry he made mj break up with him and to mj also had right to be cruel he break up with him and just leave and why to forgive sandman who in the final battle would have killed him like his uncle?
No matter how badly the movie was botched, Spider-Man 3 holds a special place in my heart due to the emotion it packs with scenes like this.
Same
"I should never have heart you, said those things." This movie has a direct line to my heart.
"I should have never have *hurt * you" not heart
Can't wait to see sandman again. His performance was great in this movie. Made him a tragic character that we loved at the end
This musical score is one of the most underrated of all time.
:)
I love how he didn't pull him out of the car like gta style he was gentle and careful with him
Sam Raimi’s heartfelt writing showing through even in this studio hack job of a film. Bless his soul.
Why is this scene so much better than anything from 1 and 2 if this movie is supposed to be worse?
And THAT, ladies and gentlemen is why Spider-Man is the best superhero.
There has never been a movie that had made me cry but this movie here....this scene is the one right here that will always make me shed a tear no matter how old i am
If Francos Goblin and Haden Church's Sandman were the only two villians of the movie it would've been better
The look on Peter’s face after Sandman flies away gets me so emotional. It looks like a huge weight has been lifted from him shoulders
*That moment you realize that so many movies are loved only years after they're released*
Perfect ending for a fantastic trilogy. Continuing from this point would have been totally anticlimatic. This wraps it all.
This scenes makes me cry 😢❤
Sandman's Actor and face...reminds me/looks like of my father's face, me and my dad used to played and pertended to be Spidey and Sandman, and this day i feel bad about his sick daughter, i'm starting crying too much how much he reminds me of my father.
Thomas Haden Church
Man this sandman apology theme just gives me chills!!!
This movie main theme was "Forgiveness"
The way Sandman fades away after Peter forgives him, like all of Peter's anger and hatred is gone.
It's forgiveness that bring you peace, not vengeance. Also in the end, Harry died peacefully after he forgives Peter.
This is when Peter finally accepted his guilt after sandman confessed the truth.
At least Peter tried to save Eddie. But instead he acted like a fool.

Norman Osborn: “Don’t tell Harry”
Otto Octavius: “I will not die a monster”
Flint Marko: “I’m not asking you to forgive me. I just want you to understand.”
These villains ruined me as a kid.

They were misguided
Eddie/Venom: "Never wound, what you can't kill"

Sandman was easily the most redeemable villain in this series.
When Peter told Flint “I forgive you” that was incredibly deep.

When hes talking to sandman that part really hits hes just standing there wondering what he should do next. Flint didnt know what was gona happen next either, so he finally gives pete the answers hes been searching for. Expecting a fight, but peter forgives him. Shit is wild
Watching all emotional scenes, especially this one, keeps making my heart feel heavy because Peter leant his lessons at the cost of his loved ones.
In the first Spider-man movie, Tobey was only 26, yet, looking at him. He felt exactly like a dorky high school boy like ones I knew in school. But in this movie, I hardly see that. I see a grown man.
