  • In this video we take on the Senton 3s once again to show how easy it is to convert the stock Hex drive setup to 17mm. This new component opens up a whole new world of possibility to the 10th scale vehicle. On road, off road, and even monster truck options are now possible with this simple upgrade. Come along as AJ walks you through the installation step by step in the hopes this new part setup will help you as well. No longer will you be trapped in the stock world. Free yourself and let a new world of tire possibilities wash over you.

    I'm trying to do this on my Kraton 4sV1 and the parts I got don't fit,then I got the M2C conversion to 17mm parts but they don't fit. I was told the Senton and the Kraton 4sV1 we're similar.

    Wouldn't wider stance be better for turning fast so it has less chance of flipping? So wouldn't the offsets beneficial for say short course racing?

    • @AJJAMStudios
      @AJJAMStudios  หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s a double edged sword. Yes, it may be a bit more stable but the ability to right itself would be reduced. The body design of short course trucks has a unique ability to land the RC on the side or wheels most of the time, which means turning into the ground and adding throttle can pull it back onto the wheels. Widening the stance may negate this ability. Both work but the choice has to be yours as to what to do. Wider…more stable. Stock…more time driving and less time walking after your RC when it flips.

    I'm not sure I like that design. The pin is only holding on to the hex by 1/2 of one side. The side that the grub screw goes in the pin goes all the way through the hole. It may hold but it doesn't seem the most secure. I like the M2C one's better where the pin goes all the way through and then there's a inverted bolt that locks it onto the shaft using the original nut threads

      After testing the part, I will definitely be buying the M2C conversion to see the difference for myself. I was unaware of the M2C upgrade at the time of producing the video. As you suspected, "The cheap ones do work", but there is a bit of slop in the system with them installed. I'm hoping the M2C system is tighter and hopefully stronger. But, as I said, these do work. Thanks for the input. AJ

    I love your channel. It has helped me to rebuild a lot of my RC cars and trucks. Your channel was the first to explain what different grades of diff oils does. Other channels just tell us what they're running in the front and back, but not why. This is a great channel and I love what you're doing to help people like me who just started this hobby.
    Thanks A.J, you're the best!👍🏾🔥

    Nice and very informative.
    These duratrax bandito mt tires look very cool. Are they the 2.8 or the 3.8? Do you perhaps have a part number?
    Want to give them a go on my kraton exb.
    Thx and keep the vids coming 😉

      Bandito MT Belted 3.8" Mounted Front/Rear Tires .5 Offset 17mm Black DTXC5628
      There you go. I found these on Ebay some time ago, but they are still available. I love the way they act on the pavement, but I would suggest checking the offset to make sure they fit your car as you would like them to. Also, the wheels are a bit weak, so be cautious in tight, high traction turns. I blew two of them out, and it only blew the hub, not the tires. Perhaps purchase a tougher wheel and then buy "just the tires" and mount them yourself. That solved the issue for me. I hope this helps. AJ

    What road wheels would you recommend for a Mojave?

    • @AJJAMStudios
      @AJJAMStudios  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      My first thought was to use the Arrma Felony "Rear" wheels and tires (107mm rears) for that application. They are similar in size to the stock wheels, and they are wide enough to handle the weight and still get good traction under load. Plus, they are speed rated, so you can gear it up and get a move on with out fear of rupturing a tire and killing your Mojave. For my Mojave, those are the tires I'm planning on using when I take it to the asphalt. I would also recommend lowering the suspension and tightening up the shocks to limit chassis sway whilst cornering. That should get you in the game. If you find better tires for that application, please let me know. Thanks for asking, AJ.

    • @kodre

      @@AJJAMStudios I thought about those, but they look so much smaller. The 1/5 GRP look to be a better fit, but changing to the square wheel hub gave me pause. I I'll look at the Felony wheels again, thanks!

    Your killin me here!! After the redcat debacle, I have been looking for a project in the SCT style. The Senton is it! One question, is this the same chassis as the brushed mega chassis? I have a simple brushless upgrade I want to use for the brushed but was wondering if they were the same so I ask someone who knows. That would be you guys!! I still feel bad about the Redcat SCT and the shootout, but you opened my eyes and I thank you again for that. As always, great video and keep them coming!!!

    • @AJJAMStudios

      We’ve done that same thing with the typhon and it does work but the motor mount on ours needed the 3s version and the diffs for the older Megas are plastic but held up for quite a while. Then there’s the slipper to accommodate having to mod slightly to get it installed for 3s. However, the effort was well worth it in the end. And don’t forget to add the center driveline breaking kit to it. Best of luck on your build, AJ
