A masterful performance by Sonja Drakulich here. Pure magic. Other singers who have done this cannot match this one-of-a -kind performance. The way she spins her notes, her timing, the "dreamy" quality and her beauty...... The other band members of course also amazing. This is a true work of art in every way.
This video went down in history - best live video ever .. Full inspiration .. a perfect rapport .. everyone was attuned to the same vibration .. Perfect - Excellent
Another great band like Omnia. I really like the use of old instruments and new ones like computers. The voices are amazing. Damn if I was born later.... thanks paganfolksvideos to share such great music
I appreciate Faun because they revocate the old poems and songs of different cultures and sometimes combine them in a common theme. And a tribute to The Divine Folk Poet Yunus Emre (1238-1321) The lyrics from 5.00 on is from his famous poem "Gel Gör Beni Aşk Neyledi" The Poem In Old Turkish: "Ben yürürüm yane yane Aşk boyadı beni kane Ne akilim ne divane Gel gör beni aşk neyledi" In English: "I'm wandering (try to live), burning (grieving) The Love That Painted Me In Blood Red I'm Not a Fool Nor a Lunatic Come and see Me Now What Love Has Made Of Me"
thank you so much for this comment!!!! the lyrics you wrote seem to be the same with the ones they sing here but what about the album version of the song? The lyrics there sound different...do you know if they're Turkish too?
Excellent!
I watched "FAUN, in 2018 in Porto Alegre, and after the show, I took pictures with them, especially with Fiona, beautiful, plays a lot of flute, folie and sings. I talked to the percussionist about the "birimbau", a Brazilian percussion instrument that he uses in some songs. I'm Irish 🇮🇪☘, but I live in Brazil 🇧🇷, since I was 21 years old, when I came on vacation to visit Rio, on the second day I started dating a "carioca", whom I married! 💪 🥂
I saw her once and then no more 't was Edens Light on earth a while She passed along the meadow floor Spring seemed to smile and then no more Ah! What avail my magic lore? She shone before mine eyes awhile My peace is wrecked on Beauty's shore. I saw her once and then no more Oh might I see, her once again Death would soon heal this heart Now sad and sore, would beat anew A while and then no more
Timeless as ancient meets the now moment...this is no longer music of yesteryear because it transcends us in rapture as the blood of our ancestors in our genes are awaken to this enchantment ❤
I love Sonja Drakulich! I wish she'd have joined Faun back when she was touring with them. I do love all the other singers too; I just want Sonja as an extra member in the band. ;)
The entire Totem album is fantastic and even though I don't speak much German, the singing gives me chills, and the fantastic use of instruments just speaks to my soul. I love this band, along with Omnia. I also highly recommend The Moon and The Nightspirit for a more middle eastern take.
+acerb45666555 >>> All the Aryan cultures had similar sounds in ancient times. They were each different but had some things in common. The name Iran is actually a variation of the word Aryan.
1Fireskull.... This Aryan idea could have relevance. Famous Iran singer, Shajarian looks like a German. But like the shorter and darker type that Tacitus saw when he was in old Germania. Not every German was tall and blond. Tacitus witnessed these people up close!.......And ancient,(Viking era), Christian chroniclers say that Danes had many with black hair! But the Norwegians were mostly blond.
Elisabeth Pawelke was awesome, and to me, the 'golden years' of Faun was when she was with the band. They lost vocal stability after Lisa left. Sandra Elflein took on the vocals for a couple years, and I think the live Lysana at Mediaval in 2010 was really good. (Not sure if that was Sandra or Rairda in the vid) Sonja Drakulich who is singing in this video, I believe only was only a fill-in singer until they got someone permanent after Rairda left, for Sonja gives her time and efforts to Stellamara', another great band. Katja Moslehner came on in 2013 and was a good vocalist for 5 years. I liked her version of 'Tinta' live in 2014. I just discovered today that she left the band and the new Faun vocalist is Laura Fella. I like the versions of the songs these vocalists brought to the live shows.
To be honest... I think Neil looking a bit ungroomed is because he would overshadow Oliver as the bands' biggest hunk if he would put more effort to his appearance...

Actually she sounds a lot like Loreena McKennitt. When I this first hit my playlist I wasn't sure if it was faun or Loreena.
you're quite right
even though I loved Liza Pawelke much more, Sonja's vocals are more suited for Pearl
Amazing performance in 2012, Extraordinary in 2021!! I love this band!!

Wonderful band. Great instrumentalists and lovely songs. They all make a great performance. Long live the Faun.
I appreciate Faun because they revocate the old poems and songs of different cultures and sometimes combine them in a common theme.
And a tribute to The Divine Folk Poet Yunus Emre (1238-1321)
The lyrics from 5.00 on is from his famous poem "Gel Gör Beni Aşk Neyledi"
The Poem In Old Turkish:
"Ben yürürüm yane yane
Aşk boyadı beni kane
Ne akilim ne divane
Gel gör beni aşk neyledi"
In English:
"I'm wandering (try to live), burning (grieving)
The Love That Painted Me In Blood Red
I'm Not a Fool Nor a Lunatic
Come and see Me Now What Love Has Made Of Me"
thank you so much for this comment!!!! the lyrics you wrote seem to be the same with the ones they sing here but what about the album version of the song? The lyrics there sound different...do you know if they're Turkish too?
They sing only first two verses of the poem.
"Ben yürürüm yane yane
Aşk boyadı beni kane"
The album version is not Old Turkish
Actually, the last line of the couplet should be translated into English as: "Come, see what Love has done to me."
I really love that part

Sehr sehr geil. Schön trancig. Skilled Musicians. Faun at it´s best.
We agree with me. Faun is better live.
Was this song born from a poem by Hafez the Persian? It sounds very eastern. I like it!

Wie heisst die Sängerin? Ich finde, sie ist echt klasse!
she is not Sonia Draculich the singer is Elizabeth Pawelke...
+Wallace Bryant No, this IS Sonja Drakulich, she was there as a guest singer. Elisabeth Pawelke has not been part of Faun since 2008.
+Wallace Bryant yea Rick is right, she is not lisa pawelke.
interestingly enough, these are not the original lyrics to this song.
Fiona Rüggeberg °¬°
CIAO :bene cosi'.
Good, very good, but try to imagine with Lisa instead!
I could not agree more.
did she quit?
I agree lisa was brilliant as is fiona
but sonja is just as good in a different way
what ever line up this band has , the music is amazing!!
