He had a great start and got ahead, while Checo struggled off the line. He saw a chance and so he took it. Going for the overtake was a safe call and he probably would have won if he didn't mess his brake balance up. And actually, braking behind Checo and locking up would cause a crash and a massive pile up, so Checo got lucky there, could have been race over for him if he was faster off the line.
He was in a reasonable place to try for the move, and he even braked at the right time. When he turned off the system that they use to heat up the brakes during safety cars/red flags, he accidentally turned it back on. That's why his brakes were smoking while he was sitting still. He just had no brakes, then straight into a lockup.

Most of them have their great and weak starts. Verstappen has made some insane starts this year (Imola being one of the craziest starts I've ever seen from someone in 10+ season of watching F1), Hamilton is very consistent with it, and there's some more to name (including the ones you did). the leclerc/gasly battle is one of the greatest things i've ever seen. charles pretty much fully overtook him at least once but because gasly had the better line was able to take advantage of those lines to hold his position. amazing driving by both!

I think there is rule that if the driver in front is in front with more than half of their car they can change direction once between each corner and the driver behind has to pull off the throttle. I think there is rule that if the driver in front is in front with more than half of their car they can change direction once between each corner and the driver behind has to pull off the throttle. And this was it. Tsunoda wasn't next to Alonso so he had to slow down because Alonso was the one picking racing line. IMO. Correct me if I am wrong.

@@jaja8022 eh, Gasly closed the door similarly on Vettel on approaching Turn 4 (check F1's twitter clip), and these are not speeds at which closing the door results in something major. Tsunoda is behind Alonso, his front wheel is not in alignment with Alonso's rear, if it was, it would be a different story.
