      @@debcookpamunkeyGarth, if you know the bare minimum about The Band, was the main keyboardist. Watch, The Last Waltz and you’ll learn a little bit. The thought that Garth Hudson was the last surviving member crossed many people’s minds. Oh, and Robbie Robertson has been remembered a lot, the spotlight was not stolen.

      Watching the news tonight, they showed a long segment on a sold-out concert tonight at Yankee Stadium: "50 Years of Hip-hop in NYC". It's gotten widespread coverage on every NY channel, media source. I kept thinking how that was never done for any other type of music or genre. What makes Hip-Hop better or more important than Jazz, Soul, R&B, Rock, etc? Ridiculous.

      @robertbruce6865 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Pikearea Levon screwed Levon…but if you bothered to do the slightest amount of research, you’d know that.
      Two books that are friendly to Levon, “Levon” by Sandra Tooze and “Levon’s Man” by former Band Manager Joe Forno, both point out that he pissed away money like there was no tomorrow. When he built his barn/home/studio, his own father, JD, told him that he was “trying to cut too big of a hog with too small of a knife”. He routinely bought $500+ room service meals on tour, only to waste most of it. And this doesn’t factor in the money wasted on his heroin habit.
      Band insiders like John Simon, Johnathan Taplin, and some unknown named Ronald Cornett Hawkins have all stated that Robbie was given proper songwriting credits; Hawkins pointed out that Robbie was taking care of business while the others weren’t. Three of the others were whacked out on drugs, and Garth was in it for the music.
      I’m guessing that you read Levon’s book and accepted it as gospel. You should be aware that, according to Joe Forno’s book, Levon told a Fayetteville Ark paper that it was about 50% bullshit. This confirms my theory that it was rock and roll hack writer Stephen Davis (whose “biography” of Led Zeppelin was salacious in the extreme) who actually wrote the book.
      A cursory amount of research will show that the facts were on Robbie’s side.

    R I P One of the best. I loved the Band and was lucky enough to see them live a few times backing Dylan. Saw the Last Waltz tour. I was devestated when they broke up but Robbie continued thank God making albums including one with Danko. I miss them all.

    Massive loss to our the music world. His eyes saw so much history in the making. I rode my bike to one of my very first parties with a joint tucked behind my ear at 15 in 1976. The Night they Drove Old Dixie Down was playing when I walked in.
