    Thank you a million times over. I have done very little stitching on my pages- I have never even touched a sewing machine outside of this realm.So you made this look easy enough to keep trying.

    Thank you Audrey for explaining how to stitch. I want to start stitching once I get a sewing machine (nothing too fancy) and this has help me learn a lot before I get started. I haven't sewed in years... I'm 65 now but I had a sewing class in high school.

    I like using my sewing machine to sew around the 2 long and one open edge of a empty toilet roll… flattens them instantly ready to make cute little scrapbook pockets 🤗
    And all those dull sewing needles from sewing all these years that I’ve never actually thrown away but collected in packets and thrown in the sewing junk drawer…. now actually have a purpose… as my dull papercraft needles!! - It’s like I knew I’d kept them for a reason and I’m not just a hoarder! 😂

It only has a straight stitch (forward and back), of course, no zig zag, and I’ve started using it in my junk journal pages. What fun! • @franbrown5269
    @franbrown5269 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Fran Brown ~ I have a question about tension. What is the rule of thumb for different weights of paper. I've noticed on the bobbin side quite often looks messy, especially when sewing tag tucks on inside of card stock. The colored side looks terrible.

    • @audreykit1
      @audreykit1  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmmmm, that's a good question Fran. I am not sure about the different weights of paper. I might have to experiment to find out!

  • @JennieGarciaN
    @JennieGarciaN 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Awesome tips! I used to stitch in my layouts but my machine started messing up like the tension was wrong and it couldn't be fixed no matter how much I tweaked it. I thought about trying a different thread and it didn't worked. It kept doing a messy tangle on the back. Do you recommend a specific thread? Or any tips on fixing this?

    • @audreykit1
      @audreykit1  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When my bobbin thread bunches up on the back it is usually one of two reasons: My needle and upper portion is threaded wrong (or the bobbin may be threaded wrong) or secondly, my needle was too dull. I would try a brand new bobbin with new thread and refresh yourself on how to thread your machine correctly (even if it means going back to your user manual, which I had to do before!). Also, get a new needle (and make sure you put it in the right way)...that can make a world of difference! Hope this helps and good luck!

    Thank you so much, Audrey! Can you show how to know if it's the bottom or top tension needs to be adjusted, and how to fix it? I can't really tell on paper. Thanks again! Take care, Kim :)

    • @audreykit1
      @audreykit1  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I will try to work that in sometime, Kim! Generally, if the bobbin thread is showing on the top, your needle tension is too tight (OR your bobbin is too lose). Most of the time, you are adjusting your needle tension. Some machines (like mine) require playing around with the bobbin case and a screwdriver to get the bobbin tension adjusted (which is a PAIN!). you may want to see what your manual says for your machine!

    With time, your bobbin case will pick up small bits of paper and it can cause tension problems. It's a good idea to look carefully in the bobbin case and sweep out any clumps!
