How to Cook Binignit | Visayan Dessert Soup

- This video will show you how to cook a Visayan meryenda dish known as Binignit. This is almost the same as ginataang halo-halo, except that the latter uses glutinous rice balls or bilo-bilo.
Other regions in the Philippines also have versions of this dish. These are, but not limited to the following: Sampelot in Pampanga, dinuldog, ginatan, and alphalor.

Here are the ingredients for this recipe:
2 medium sweet potato, cubed
2 medium purple yam, cubed
2 pieces saba banana, cubed
1 cup Muscovado sugar
4 cups coconunut milk
1 ½ to 2 cups water
1 ½ cups sliced ripe jackfruit
2 medium gabi, cubed
1 ¼ cup tapioca pearls
2 tablespoons glutinous rice flour

At present, I use Panasonic Hc-X920, Sony FDR-AX100 4K Ultra HD Camcorder, and Nikon D5.

I'm from Cebu and we make Binignit mostly during Lenten Season. We usually use fresh coconut milk with it and we don't add water. It's my first time to see a binignit with water. I wonder how it tastes like.

Ang sarap nyan! Binignit, a famous Mindanaon and Visayan delicacy. Ganyan din ang recipe na tinuro sa akin ng nanay ko. Masarap din kung lagyan ng pandan leaves or vanilla para mas bumango lalo. Ang version ng mga Micronesian (Palauan) sa Binignit ay glutinous rice powder na ginawang parang palitaw at buko bits naman ang hinalo sa coconut milk. Btw, thank u for mentioning “Landang”. Nkalimutan ko ang tawag nyan nung ng-usap kami ng asawa ko about sa ingredients ng binignit. Heheh

"sindol" po ang tawag namin dyan dto sa zamboanga. yung flour po bale nilalagay sya sa salaan tapos diresto sa lutuan para mgkaroon ng macaroni-like texture sa sindol. masarap po talaga yan..thank you for sharing. definitely will try this soon.

Did you mean freeze it for later use, or freeze it and have it as a cold dessert? I think that you can freeze this up to a week for later use, but make sure to thaw it first before reheating.
