My favorite part of Yoseka store is how they let you swatch every single ink bottle they sell! Whenever I go, I bring my own notebook so I can swatch on the paper that I like to use. Then, they can make you a sample bottle or sell you a full size if you fall in love with any of them.

Daisy mentioned meeting you on the Yoseka video this week! You are now, officially, "TH-cam Famous"!

天青in ancien China means sky blue, but in ceramics it's more celadon in color (I'm not sure if it's deliberate or if it was just easier to get green glaze instead of blue). in Modern Chinese the character青is more associated with grass green. Things might have gotten loss in translation at some point ? This is my guess. :) That ink is beautiful~ and that Twisbi pen is gorgeous too! Nice haul!

Hi Liane! I don’t know if you’ve seen it yet, but Daisy from Yoseka gave you a shoutout at the end of her latest Catch Up video.

If I was never allowed to use fountain pens again, I would probably just use Zebra Sarasa pens. The camel shade is so nice. Yoseka Stationery sounds amazing. I would love to be able to try all these high end pens and papers in person to see how I like them in real life!

The blue/green thing is the same in Korean and Japanese too.

Living vicariously through you. Thank you so much for sharing! I am totally in love with the feeling of the Logical Prime paper and the Rose Gold TWSBI is my next pen. Thank you for sharing the mini…definitely going with that one now!

That specific Chinese character 青 is ancient, and it could mean either green or blue depending on the context. But there's actually a specific character dedicated to the color green 绿. It's funny, because we say "青山绿水“: the mountains are green and so does the water, and we use two different characters to describe the same color (probably to avoid repetition, and probably because 青 sounds slightly more blue for it's also used to describe the sky "青天").

I’ve only bought (online) from Yoseka, but really appreciate their ink offerings and polite, punctual customer service. A terrific shop.

You were in the three best stores! The FPH has a solid selection but to be honest, unless you work with Jimmy, who is really good about educating on the pens and inks and has been very friendly to newbies I’ve sent to the store…. I wouldn’t recommend the experience. I’ve started recommending Yoseka for the customer experience. Daisy and her team are wonderful. I make the trek to Brooklyn every season now to just to browse and enjoy the space. This video was so sweet. Now I want to go shopping! 😊

Sweet Haul video! Glad you enjoyed your time in NYC.

The Chinese word Qing can mean green or blue, but generally it means a greenish blue color. Like the color of Celadon or greenish blue lakes (google lakes in China and sometimes you see how it is a very green color).

I’m so glad you posted this! I’m going to NYC in a couple weeks and plan to go to one of the first two stores. I will be too far from Yoseka but definitely want to go sometime.

FYI u can charge (push ink into nib with the piston) a fp nib when it’s dry…u don’t have to let it sit nib down 😉 If u do that every time a nib hard starts u won’t use your beautiful TWSBI.

Liane, your videos have made me realize that I need to swatch my inks. I have quite a few, and when I’m ready to ink a pen find the decision as to which ink to choose I am always overwhelmed. In fact it stresses me out. A swatch book with a bloop and a bit of writing-probably with a glass nib and my Sailor Hocoro-I may be able to relax and just choose my color? I’m going to try it. Wish me luck! 🤓
