oh so alternate universe lion is kanon i guess? these are the ages that match up between characters afaik, and shannon is a character that kanon gave life to? maybe shannon from 1976 is real, but the shannon of 1986 is imagined just like the seven deadly sins are all copies of the senior servants from 1976. who knows lol

This episode is insane in a lot of ways so far
Lion is Beatrice. She loved Battler, and vise versa. The puzzle is complete. Battler killed everyone.
Battler talks to Lion in that memory. It's perfect. But since Lion is servant, they can't be together. Their love can't succeed. But it has a chance, as long as Battler murders everyone. Then miracle can occur.

yea this part is easily my least fave of the entire vn so far like. you get excited for the culprit reveal/confirmation only to have this long-ass weird meta instalment kick in that takes multiple hours to chew through lmao. but it does work/make sense once it gets going at least
If you look at Higurashi, who Oyashiro-sama is is less important than the effect they have on the story. Umineko is fairly similar in that regard with who Beatrice is. The actual culprit behind the events is completely different.
I'm the opposite... I'm pretty satisfied with how it's going so far. After spending months reading such a complex story, I'd be disappointed if everything could be solved with a simple "And the culprit is... X" scene, or something like that. Just as the mystery got so much development, I expect the solution and the culprit nature to have this much development as well...
