That Pudding looked spot on, soft and moist - when I order suet puddings in pubs it’s always hit or miss in terms of dryness.
That’s why I tend to stick to Hollands for my pudding fill, even tho there is less and less filling inside them these days.
Fun (?) Fact for you - Hollands Puddings isn’t made of Suet and never has been.

oh its one of my faves in wethys. Love it with mash and chips (yes am greedy hahha) it is stodgy but great on a cold day

The steak and kidney is reliably good in Wether spoons......they apparently want to have 1000 branches again now, but they are closing some pubs in towns that have 2 and opening in new locations that don't have Spoons...
30 ales in the festival I think, there were loads of styles of beer, excellent!

I usually change the mash for chips with this dish
Suet pastry’s nice, sticks to your ribs and glad you enjoyed it. Most people I know that frequent spoons go for the cheap booze, not the food.

Big fan of a Spoons steak and kidney, but I went tearing all over the country last year and developed a bit of a thing for their chicken wings and chilli sauce.

Oh that's looks nice deano I've no been in a wetherspoons for years the one I used to go to closed down no wonder the god it served me and my hubby got pudding a nd chips we waited a while then the pudding and chips came I cut my pudding snd thought it has no gravy in it si tasted the meat and it was frozen solid so j took mydinner snd my hubby's dinner to the bar and asked for my money back the waitress said why what's up with your dinner I said the puddings are frozen solid and she said oh they are she said do you want them replaced I said no ill have my money back and I go jt back we never went into wethersoons in our town but we've been to wetherspoons while on holiday and the meals have always been lovely with lovely staff too love frsn xxxx
I agree the mash was a let down, try chips instead.in 2022 they stopped serving the steak & kidney puddings, so I was happy when they brought them back in the menu in 2023.Yes for just under £10 with a Guinness it's still my fav go to weatherspoons meal.😊😊
I usually swap the mash for chips, I find it really good quality, equal to this dish in a lot of village 'gastropubs' This with a Guinness in an expensive pub would be more than £20
Just can't get into kidneys; I find their smell and taste too off-putting. That mash looked almost embarrassed to be on the plate.
should be genuine mash. still love Wetherspoons. A pub , in a large chain of pubs, make genuine mash in a big batch. Never sell out the same day, keep it 3 or 4 or 5 days and keep serving it. They check the oldest batch, if it tastes bad they chuck it . Pub near where Piers Morgan lives. ......I know the cook.
I would give it a go if they had the option of normal gravy.
Looks good, must admit smash isn't my thing either. Good way to look at it price of drink off total and what meal costs, can't knock it

Whole thing looked microwaved to me Deano. But if it tasted decent, and at less than a tenner with a pint of Guiness thrown in then that's fair enough!

I went into weatherspoons a couple of weeks back and the steak and kidney pudding was half that size, the guys with me thought it was a starter

Suet is animal fat, my Nan used to make the most amazing steak and kidney pudding, steamed for ages in muslin over a pan of boiling water ! 😋🤤👌❤️

I used to order the pudding in my local wether spoons until i found a peice of green plastic in it...i reported it and theyve taken it of the menu in n.ireland lol.
Well if the meal deal included the Guinness at the same price of a lager then the deal is good even though it looked inedible, not sure on your qualifications as a meal tester if you thought that was good it looked as bad as other posters have stated. Actually, Knorr makes a very good mash potato product if you follow the instructions, and you can make the consistency to your choice.

My Mash recipe is Good Spuds, Kerrygold Butter, Semi Skimmed Milk, Salt and Pepper.

But they are privately owned, don't you know the difference, just because he has a large chain it helps keep the cost down, because he has his own delivery system for getting the beer and food to the pubs.

I have had ' Spoon's steak & Kidney pudding it's better than it looks there can be no such thing as a "good pint of Guinness it is now all the same mass produced ice cold keg muck a shadow of its former self.
If you hadn't heard of suet pastry you have no business doing a food blog.
Partial to a steak and kidney pie myself but can't be doing with puddings, it's the texture of the suet 🤮
The suet has nothing to do with the texture of a pudding,it’s the steaming that gives you the texture,if you bake a pie with a suet pastry crust,it will bake up the same as if you used butter,but the taste would be different.I doubt if that pudding was actually made with suet,more Likely shortening.

Too stodgy. Okay in moderation like everything else. In any case I like that suet pudding and the steak (what bit is in it) but no way the offal.
