Linux has curious gaps. For nodes it's rock solid, but for connected/attended mode, linpac works kinda sorta, but has no mbox. If you don't run linpac you can never see anyone connecting in to you. If you run EasyTerm in Wine with Direwolf, you get buffer size errors in Direwolf. We're missing an EasyTerm for linux basically. I can run Direwolf + linbpq, works great, can't receive incoming connects on linpac with that running. I can run Direwolf + ax25d + mheardd and uronode and then I can run linpac, but with all that, I have no mbox unless I want to run a full BBS and a lot of people don't bother with those to leave a msg. Funny matrix of small gaps after all these years of work. I did write a perl script as a node app for a personal mbox but you still can't see if anyone is connected to you. It pains me to say that Win10 with UZ7HO and EasyTerm is the most functional for me if I'm calling CQ and just looking for people to connect.
Is it possible to make a bootable pendrive persistent disk with Debian or Ubuntu, run soundmodem TNC - UZ7HO and packet booting in any pc? do you know if such already made image exists? thanks 73
With a traditional TNC, yes! However AFAIK the TNC-Pi doesn't provide those interactive capabilities. The Linux utilities offer a consistent interface across any KISS-capable TNC, new or old.
One of the most helpful packet videos I have found. Thank you for taking the time to create it. 73, de KM4ACK
Hello Tom, great video. Any chance of another on this topic? There's not much on youtube for ax.25 and your video is one of the best. Cheers!
Very helpful video thank you!
Nice video. Are you running two RPi's and XTNC's? You are good at teaching. Hope to see more videos about Linux and Packet. 73 Terry KB8AMZ
Any way to show the actual setup ? Thanks !

Hi, those windows are linux terminals? axcall is a program that you call in the terminal? thanks

If you're using a TNC, couldn't you just use "screen" to connect to the TNC and then use the TNC's functions?
