Hey guys! Let me know what you think about this re-creation of the $150 Decor Steals Mystery box! That video is linked in the description if you want to checkout out! Love ya💖
Aw honey... You know you had us with your very thoughtful replacement(?) for those freaking weird beads, down to your careful attention to a complementary color scheme. That garland of wooden crosses (more apropos for a Mardi Gras parade participant) left me very confused, befuddled even. They looked like decor for an exorcism 😮 (hope I don't offend the unfathomable sensibilities of the YT censors. You just never know any more). You could sell your versions of these overpriced boxes of meh in one of your stores, put the original boxes out where people can see them, then display your choices. And make a large line item poster showing prices... No wait. That would be a really petty thing to do, and you don't do petty. That's Charlotte Dobre's channel😂 So sorry.
Loved your choices. It was a fun video to watch. I didn’t like the things that came in the box at all…especially the cross garland even though I’m a Christian 🥰
I think in the future, you should also do the tally for straight recreating the box, too. Don't buy the items, just add a part at the end with pictures and prices of what it would cost to directly recreate it.
Exactly what I came to say. Find and tally the items to prove your point on value, but spend the money on what you would want to have (which kinda shows that the mystery boxes are not necessarily the best use of money, as there is always the risk of hanging crosses....)
That's amazing. No need to buy the stuff but only let us know that the same products are out there for waaaay less than these companies are trying to convince is they worth
I think it was a great idea to NOT duplicate the Mystery Box, but rather prove that you could buy things you like and that suit your decor style for the same $150 or less. Great job!
I personally would fail at something like this because I love the taste of Crate & Barrel but if something to expensive there I will find a slightly less expensive version(I hate the word cheap folks need to replace that word with inexpensive) at target...
I love that you recrated it with a twist, so you would actually use the items you buy. The main issues I have with subscription boxes is when I get stuff that I'm never going to use, it feels like a big waste.
I love that you decide to only buy things you actually want! It is so useless to buy things you wouldn't get use out of. I agree with some other people that you can can just take pictures of the other items to just recreate and give us that price.
But you forgot the beach bag!! Lol LOVE THE RECREATION VIDEOS! I personally think your showing if it's better to gather the items yourself and if the convenience of a box is worth it. Thank you
@@Alexandria-Ryan I actually used one of your videos from a while back to get cute farmhouse inspired decor (from decocrated) from Marshall’s and Ross. It turned out so cute! So thank you! ❤️
If a pot doesn’t have drainage holes, then it’s just a decorative cover pot. You put your plant in its nursery pot into the cover pot to make it look pretty! Typically used for indoor plants because you wouldn’t want a pot draining onto your floor 😅 When you water the plant you either remove it from the cover pot and water it in the sink, or if the material is permitting you can water as is, but you need to make sure that there’s no water left sitting at the bottom as that will rot your roots. So you have to tip out any left over water later. Which isn’t always the easiest. You can also put pot dishes under the plant so the water sits in there rather than running onto say a wooden cover pot. I have lots like this as I like wood and bamboo planters, so I just pop a dish that fits down the bottom. But if you’re not into real plants then you can get some fake ones and either cover them up with rocks, or coconut husk fiber, just to hide any gaps. Or use them for dried plant arrangements which seem to be having a big resurgence in popularity 😊 Hope that helps!
And today I learned what "Living my best life" really is... it's a small dog in a padded shopping cart, being fed snacks! Live like Rhenn folks❤🎉 also, PLEASE let me shop with you, your haul was soooo much better
I may be wrong but I believe it’s spelled “Wren” like the bird, lol, but you’re absolutely right, he was certainly living his best life in that cart! Happy as could be and cute as all get out (to throw every cliche possible in there! 😂).
@@ShellyS2060 interesting! I’ve never heard that! Who knows with the TH-cam algorithms, they’re so touchy about the silliest things, it very well could be true. It’s up to you if you want to edit, but I don’t think it’s a big deal, it was still obvious who you were talking about. 😊
If you like the look of big lanterns and candle holders, but never end up lighting the candles, I highly recommend getting some rechargeable LED candles, specifically a set that also has a remote control. You press one button and voilà - a room of flickering candlelight. (A lot of them have timer functions as well, and will automatically switch off after a couple of hours.)
I like the stuff you purchased SO much better! These 'recreate it' videos are some of my favorites. I love seeing how bad of a deal some sub boxes really are. You could do them by just showing us what you would've got to duplicate the box and how much it cost, but not buy stuff. I'd love those too and it'd save you money! It's kind of fun when you see stuff for $4 that they're saying is $50 in a sub box. Thanks for taking us to Home Goods with you!
I've found that if you take those broken clearance items up to the register and show them how broken it is, they'll usually give it to you for an additional 50-90% off. And if they won't take any extra off, well, it didn't hurt to ask! (Ok, well, for us introverts it might hurt a little bit, but hey, sometimes being cheap requires sacrifice!😅)
Love that you decided to sub the lamp for the lantern - not everything you receive in a subscription box is something you want or will use, so it only makes sense to buy an alternative you actually like. 🤷♀️
I’m so happy you decided to get pieces you wanted and I agree with other comments that it’d be cool to find pieces that matched and tally up the cost without buying, that way you don’t need to even stress about getting items even close. Love the pieces too, especially the lamp!
More important than direct replacements for each item, is the idea of corresponding items with a cohesive look. Cohesion is often difficult on a budget, so that's the bigger challenge. I totally want to live in the room that she picked all those items for! ❣️😀 #classy
You smashed it! The quality difference is so evident which is really effective in showing up the ridiculous price gouging these subscription companies are so fond of. Need one of those geometric planters ASAP 🧡
Wow, Alexandria, you did an EXCELLENT job with your recreation!! So smart that you decided to buy items that you actually LIKE and can USE instead of just recreating piece for piece, and then have to spend time returning/exchanging things. I like a variety of items from BOTH...a little farmhouse and a little practical!
Shopping in the U.S.A would drive me insane being on a tight budget. The shelf price isn't what you actually pay at the checkout. In Australia, the price you see is what you pay. Any tax is already included. Much easier to manage your finances when you know what you're paying up front. [rant done] Love ya Alexandria 😊
I would much rather you recreate the box like this. I’m glad you took inspiration from it and got things that you actually like. Loved your recreation!
4:11 the pots without holes are called “cache pots”. You put plants in plastic nursery pots that have holes down in the decorative cache pot. That way you can bottom water if you want and it won’t make a mess.
A. the Wren b-roll is excellent 🙌 B. clipping the doggo to the kid buckle is GENIUS!! C. i love these videos, it feels like i'm really shopping with you
Love your choice of replacements, both because it’s less wasteful to get things you’ll use and because I think you’re better at picking items than the curators of these boxes. If I got the original mystery box I would have been so unhappy. You say you got close to the $150, but even with buying more expensive, higher quality items you saved almost 20%!
This was so fun! I love when you recreate boxes 😁 just curious, what happened to the large fabric basket? I think it was the first item in your mystery box.
You could definitely make two lists one with how much it would cost to copy it as close as possible and another that you actually buy and it's just loosely inspired and stuff you would actually want to own!
I actually really appreciate that you got things that you truly like because it highlights the importance of personal value. When it comes to these mystery boxes I think how much personal value (whether that's enjoyment, utility, or otherwise) is much more important than the monetary value. A box could have the best value ever when it comes to getting a good deal but if the items inside aren't something the subscriber will use or enjoy then it's basically pointless.
The spooky crosses should be turned into Halloween decorations. Make a "vampires coffin" and wrap that around to secure the monster inside. But I love seeing you do the box recreations. I always enjoy seeing what you find and for how much.
I love when you recreate but if it's cheaper for you to go and recreate but not actually buy the stuff and just show us the cart I'm all for that!! If you do actually purchase i like to see what you can find in store to match and then switch out at the end for what you can actually use! So we get all wins! Love these videos. Great job!
I love when you do these videos re-creating home decor and fashion pieces! I think they're some of my favourites out of all your videos. Would totally love to see you do a thrifting recreation sometime too - sounds so fun!
This is great, definitely how I think you should do these box "recreations": show off whatever equivalents you can find, but then actually get what you will use/what suits your taste. It would be a waste to buy things just because they match the box closest if you still don't like/won't use the recreated item.
I'm going to try this again because TH-cam keeps deleting my comments. An idea for the beaded crosses, you mentioned how expensive the beaded ropes were. Why not dismantle the wooden bead part, and re-string the beads on the jute rope? You can probably make 3 or 4, and if you won't use them yourself you can sell them at your store. You can also spray paint them or stain/dye them if you're not a fan of the colour. I would use the beaded ropes as tie-backs for curtains.
You had me in stitches. Recreating a 150 $ box. And as far what I would like to see. As long as you in it I’m fine. Always looking forward to your video’s!
I think you did a great job here. I wasn't a fan of ANY of the stuff in the other box while I enjoyed EVERYTHING you chose! The best part however, was Ren's excited tippy taps 😊!
Honestly, I love the items you chose! It looks like what a lot of these subscriptions boxes claim to do, which is give you a strong aesthetic with cohesion! The box that you received was so all over the place, I couldn't imagine who that would even be for. It would be nice if they had a person in mind while creating these mystery boxes, but it kinda feels like they just throw whatever they can find for cheap together. I love these videos, it makes me want to go to home goods and up my home decor game haha
I loved this video! Obviously, my choices would not necessarily have been the same as yours, but you’ve proven that those decor mystery boxes are not as good of a deal as they claim. You should definitely consider doing your own decor mystery box. I’m 💯 sure that you would sell it out in minutes.
This was perfect! Recreate the box with stuff you’d actually want instead. really proves the point of the mystery box “value” just isn’t worth it in most cases!
I really like what you did with this recreation. You showed us the items that would have been similar to what came in the mystery box, but when you're spending another $150 on it I don't blame you for getting different things you'd actually use, it's a much better use of your money! I think it also shows just how much better the mystery box could have been with some thought and consideration for cohesion.
Hi Crystal!! Im so glad you enjoy them! I hope I did okay haha I felt like I went a little different with the style but I think its things that can blend into my home! I hope you are well!

I loved seeing you buy items you'll actually be using. I tend to not subscribe to boxes due to knowing most items I wouldn't use, so recreating a box in a discount store with items that are similar to what you received is always enjoyable to watch! These are my favorite videos you make :)
Avid Home Goods/TJMaxx shopper here. When you find something that’s broke or imperfect, always ask for a discount even if it’s on sale. They usually will take more off
I personally love and prefer your recreation! I also agree that you should substitute some items with object you would actually like and use, rather than being forced into an object to make it exactly the same. Great job done!
Thank you for this recreation. I am thankful you went with things you actually enjoy. Keeping it on theme was a good idea too. I would love more videos like this one. Maybe Ipsy, Walmart edition? hahaha
I love your choices and they certainly have the feel of the original box. These types of videos show what you can get with just a little bit of creativity.
This video just shows why those original housewares subscription boxes are so bad. Because you really can, with intention, get things you actually want and can USE for the same or less! Your substitutions made sense, and were still on theme. Love it! It's a shame Gordman's closed. You could've spent half what you did at HomeGoods.
Girl you need to start shopping at Kohl's! They have a lot of the little boxes and decorations and stuff these boxes try to convince you are worth a crazy amount of money.
Such a fun video! I appreciate that you find similar items and take note of the price but let's be real if they had included an actual desk lamp in the box it would have been much more impressive/useful than a lantern that is likely not actually candle safe?! Love your videos! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I so love the recreating of the other items , and what you came up with was awesome. I do like the the other planter containers and i think they goes well with the sketching. But your side is so much better and its something you like and would use. Excellent job 👏 😁
Just here to say that when decorative planters don't have drainage holes you generally plant into a plastic one/leave it in the one it comes in when you buy it and either take it out to water it/go back to it after watering to dump out any extra water in the bottom of the decorative one
HI Alexandria, Great decor pieces. I am so happy with what you found. The planters are great to use when having people over to visit. You can put a plate on the top of them and use them for drinks or snacks. Also if you put a plastic planter in side you can fill them with chips and stuff. That is something fun to do with them. I am not a plant person. Well that's not true...I am a plant person but I just can't keep them alive. So I find other ways to use planters. Hugs and blessings to you.

I love your recreation much better! I like how you picked a color theme. It looked well thought out.
You should paint the hearts in box with little messages, cute valentines gift
I personally love and prefer your recreation! I also agree that you should substitute some items with object you would actually like and use, rather than being forced into an object to make it exactly the same. Great job done!
I love this recreation way more than just matching what they sent
I like what you bought better!
The 'planters' are jardinieres. You put potted plants in them and it allows you to water the plants without the water running out onto the floor. 🖤
😂😂😂That big place where the queen lives!! Love your videos her in 🇬🇧
I strongly support you getting things you'd actually use
I, for one, think you did a great job! I like that you buy things you'd actually use.
Thank you for this recreation. I am thankful you went with things you actually enjoy. Keeping it on theme was a good idea too. I would love more videos like this one. Maybe Ipsy, Walmart edition? hahaha
Your recreation was so much better. Do more of these videos. I love your content and you are such a doll .
I love the recreation, and the fact that you went with items you really like and can use rather than trying to just duplicate the mystery box.
I love your choices and they certainly have the feel of the original box. These types of videos show what you can get with just a little bit of creativity.
I love what you found. I think the choice to omit the garland was a good one. The picture is much better than the strange cross thing. ❤
U can just tell by looking at them that the items u bought are better quality! I'm glad u put ur spin on it.
Yes, I need this as a series!
Love these comparison videos!
Im so glad you enjoy them!
This video just shows why those original housewares subscription boxes are so bad. Because you really can, with intention, get things you actually want and can USE for the same or less! Your substitutions made sense, and were still on theme. Love it! It's a shame Gordman's closed. You could've spent half what you did at HomeGoods.
OG Alexandria w the bun and glasses love that!! ❤️ ❤️
I will watch any videos Alexandria makes thought she did a great job of the recreation of the mystery box
I love when you recreate these scammy boxes 📦 ❤
It’s good to see your pup doing well.
I like the concept of adapting the recreation to stuff you can use!
I love your recreation as a whole better. There were pieces I loved from the subscription box but as a whole yours is better. ❤
These videos must take so much time and energy, I can't believe it doesn't have more views already! I love it, thank you!!
The things you picked out are so much more cute and out all looks great together!
Love what you picked out better! The box def has a more farm house style vibe.
Love it! I was thinking, you could take the cross bead garland apart and make something else? Even just a single strand would be better!! ❤😊
Maybe if you paint the crosses with pastel Easter colours it could be a nice Easter decoration for a kindergarten or church group?
HI Alexandria, Great decor pieces. I am so happy with what you found. The planters are great to use when having people over to visit. You can put a plate on the top of them and use them for drinks or snacks. Also if you put a plastic planter in side you can fill them with chips and stuff. That is something fun to do with them. I am not a plant person. Well that's not true...I am a plant person but I just can't keep them alive. So I find other ways to use planters. Hugs and blessings to you.
Its sooo nice to see you buying stuff that you will actually use😍 Its sooo satisfying to watch!
I love that you bought what you wanted no matter if it was me I would have went with stuff I like.
