    I just got my G8 lens and was trying to install it per your instructions when I found out that Ortur must have use some kind of compound to lock the barrel in place. It was hard to remove to start with. If you look at the adjusting knob with a magnifying lens you will notice what appears to be some kind of plastic on the internal threads. Scrape that off with a small screw driver taking care not to mess up the threads. Your new barrel will now screw in without a problem.

      How far did you screw it into the focus ring?

  • @jaymzx0
    @jaymzx0 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    OK, so I'm one of the people with a stuck OEM lens barrel glued into the focus ring. This is what I ended up doing:
    I have a bench vise with TPU 'soft jaws' in them. I was able to snug the vise down on the barrel to the point where it wasn't going anywhere and also wasn't being crushed by the vise. One thing was certain and it's that the barrel wasn't going to budge without a lot of coaxing. I wrapped the focus ring housing in cloth and _lightly_ clamped some self-locking pliers (Vise Grips) around it. Then I tapped the pliers with a metal hammer so the shock would break free whatever was in there locking the threads. After about 6 sharp but gentle taps, it broke free and I was able to unthread the lens barrel without damage. Upon closer inspection, it looks like they used regular cyanoacrylate 'super glue' in the housing. It wasn't a lot, but it did the job, that's for sure. This is on a 15W Ortur LM2 I purchased about a month ago. This thing is great fun, BTW. I'm just experimenting with different focal lengths.
    I hope this helps.

    the picture shows 7W model which has far different barrel to 15W and 20W models, that is why it was much confused. When I tried to swap barrels between 7W and 20W it can not happens it is because 20W screws like G8 lens or G2, while 7W laser lens is screwed by that black outside part that holds lens barrel inside. Well that was main reason that confused me, now when have 2 different lasers on house, and could find it out myself I know why I asked you a question how to fit g8 to laser, the answer is simple, it can not be done in 7W model, but works only for 15w and 20w from ortur. It may work perfectly with other brands but here is not. cheers.

    just came up with an idea, I have a fixed lens in the ortur 2 so the option of changing the lens it has gone for me . but in a brain wave my father in law had some old bi focal glasses, so I have a red laser pointer and tried out pointing the laser through the glasses lens to find out what it would do, tried it on the ordinary piece of the glass lens and had no effect, but when I tried shining it through the bi focal bit on the lower section of the glass lens I noticed it got a tiny bit smaller, so thinking about it , I thought what would happen if I put the two lenses back to back.well I took out the 2 lens from the spectacles and glued the lenses together and so I basically had a convex lens with a highly magnifyed close distance focasing bit and where the bi focal bit on the 2 lens is. put it in front of the red laser pointer to see what it would do, it reduced the laser down to a very fine spot. I have not tried it with the ortur 2 yet as I am busy finishing building the housing to collect the fumes. I will let you know how I get on when I have it all together again.
    Incidently I came up with a clever way to get rid of the fumes quick. I was going to put a fume extractor on the machine housing but as money was tight I sat there and thought what I could do about it. Well I have an old vacuum cleaner that is like a Henry vacuum cleaner but mine expels the pressure going into the vacuum cleaner out of an outlet on the opposite side of the vacuum cleaner, you can use it if I remember rightly by disconnecting the vacuum hose and putting it in the blower side to use as a connector for pressurising an air fed spray gun if you want to use it for that.So the vacuum cleaner blows out one side as it vacuums up on the other side . well it came to me in a brain wave. I connected the vacuum into the housing of the laser compartment , got hold of another hose and at the same time connected that to the blower side of the vacuum cleaner and put that into the opposite side of the housing and i had made a basic wind tunnel using the same machine but instead of just vacumming I am using both sides of the vacuum cleaner,the inlet and the outlet; both at the same time, I have a filter in the vacuum itself and so the air coming out of it is filtered works a treat. instead of waiting for the fume to be caught by the vacuum, it now as soon as it is produced the incoming air is pushing the fumes towards the vacuum outlet . just a hack but worked out great.

  • @LK-xe4vn

    another funny thing, notch of the laser barrel you say must go down, and it is well true but lens in 7W laser got notch fitted into the laser, very strange. What is more strange is the fact that after many testing, stock lens in my 20W is rubbish comparing to stock lens in 7W model. But when in 20W I put with G8 lens that was whole different story but still not as great as 7W on it's stock lens. That is very interesting as such not gives me to much answers why is that this way.

      @@DIY3DTECHcom I’m not sure, it’s the one that came on the Ortur laser 20 watt. I can adjust the focus while it’s in the laser but the barrel doesn’t seem to unscrew so maybe it is fixed. That would explain it. Thank you for your response and for the videos. I really get a lot out of watching them.
