The ladies at the new office said they never seen them out in the parking lot before I came. I fed them each day for about a year when I left the company. I would get weird things left on my windshield or roof of my car like plastic bottle caps, paper clips, and even got a dime once.
I always wondered what happen to the birds when I left the company.

Crows and Ravens are two of the most intelligent birds out there. There has actually been a study done that shows that the majority of the time if you give them a food offering they will literally search around for a offering to give you in return. They have highly developed social skills and really good memories. So be nice to them because they also have a vindictive side as well if they feel you have wronged them.

When my dad was a kid, his family had a pet crow named Edgar. This crow even attempted to talk like a parrot and could say his name. Edgar would play in the sand box with my dad. One time, dad climbed up the tree to Edgar's nest and found lots of things Edgar had looted. Matchbox cars, small pieces of jewelry, ribbons, etc. Edgar liked small shiny things. One day, my grandfather hired a painter to repaint the outside of their house. Edgar sat in his tree watching and talking to the painter. Then when he built enough confidence, flew over, dipped his wing in the paint, and smeared it on the window. They gave him a bath, but his wing feathers stayed painted white after that. This made him recognizable from other crows and all the neighbors knew him. One day, my dad came back from vacation and Edgar was gone. He was likely killed by one of the nearby farmers because back then, farmers still thought crows were destructive to crops. We now know they're a net benefit and protector for crops.

Crows are definitely smart and thankful. There was an article about a little girl who always ate snacks while walking home with her mom. When they walked home, crumbs from her snack will fall on the ground and the crows would eat after her. As a result, she would wake up every morning with watches, trinkets, and so on by her window sill.

Years ago when my mother was a child, 1930s she found a baby crow after a storm. She raised it. Her dad built a box that was adjacent to her bedroom window. She could open the window, the crow could enter her room or nest in the box.
Mom said that as the crow got older he would leave and be gone for hours. One day she noticed the crow has come back scratched around the nest box then left again. She became curious and started looking through the box. Mom said there were coins rings even a watch in the nest box. She left everything in the box.
Mom said the crow knew right away that she'd messed with his treasures. She said that after he picked each item up moved the around. Then he gave her a coin. After that, if she was around he'd show her his treasures before stashing them. Mom said she thought he was stealing stuff.
This was during the depression so to find coins and jewelry seemed to much.
The crow was about 2 yrs old before he left to find a mate. Mom said he and his mate nested close to their house.
Also the crow could talk to her. She said he had this raspy voice. However you could understand him talking.
My grandma verified what Mom had told me.

Yes! When I was pretty young (5/6), my father found a baby crow in our front yard that fell from the nest and was left behind. Turns out, it was injured. Pops took a wicker basket and hung it in the tree, and put the little guy inside. He fed it several times a day and gave him water from a dropper. I'd say probably for 2 weeks. Maybe less, maybe more? Child memory isn't too reliable. The little guy grew comfortable with my dad. Anyway, he flew out of the so-called nest one day. We only knew this because it was Saturday......( I will NEVER forget this)and we were watching T.v. when we hear a knock at the door. My dad opens it, and it's the crow! He cawed a few times! My dad called us over to say bye, and he flew off after cawing at the front door for a while. I'd say about a year later, this bird came back with 👏🏾his👏🏾 family👏🏾!!! Kocked on the door, and there were 3-4 of them. My dad swears it was "Frank" who brought his family back.

(The troughs are cleaned and scrubbed weekly, with fresh water daily and as needed.) I don't feed them. They are wild. They do hunt the pigeons I've seen with carrion, and I have seen them chase the hawks. On occasion when I have extra tomatoes, plums, or peaches, I have left that on top of my buck barn ( I have goats), along with a few other tasty morsels. Crows are known to bring gifts to people who are nice to them. This is very interesting that you already got one. I am sure there are more to come

Crows are insanely smart, some studies suggest they may even have self aware consciousness.

My grandpa had a crow that was always in his huge elm tree out front. It would always land on his shoulder and he would give it peanuts. It was so cool as a little boy to see.

i was getting to know some crows at my old house, theyre very social birds and very intelligent. just always make them know your looking at them, dont try to go over and be friendly, just leave out food for them in say the middle of your yard, away fromm the house. when you see them eating it, just open your door and let them see you so they build the idea your feeding them, youll know you won when you see a larger amount of crows coming around. at that point just do your normal things so they become acustomed to your daily habits, and always take time to stare at them while standing still.
