Geoff Castellucci, bass, Layne Stein beatbox, Cesar de la Rosa, baritone/tenor, Eli(ellie) Jacobson, rock tenor, J None, baritone and former member. J was recruited by the US Navy to sing with them and left the group in 2021. He is the one who sang the separate "me" at the beginning. And that is J doing the rap. It was written by a friend of theirs in another acapella group. Their arrangements are usually done by Geoff or Layne, this one was Layne. They don't have a label or manager, they have complete artistic control. This also means they don't get the publicity that other groups do. Whoever does the arrangement usually does the editing, production, set design, location, makeup and costume choices. They sometimes bring in additional camera crew and makeup when necesssary. They sometimes go all out theatrical. Last month they did a cover of Golden Hour, the month before it was In My Room, by the Beach Boys the month before that it was Nothing Else Matters by Metallica. The month before that (Christmas) they did Christmas Don't be Late - the Chipmunk song. They can and do sing any genre, you will love it all. Guaranteed. I hope that as you continue with reactions that you will be able to get better sound, and be able to watch and show us that you are watching. I enjoyed your reaction and commentary. Subscribed.
Wow thank you so much! I'm still learning about the whole reaction channel stuff, going to try and research different ways to capture the video as well as my reaction. Thank you for stopping by!
First, get a good pair if headphones. Geoff is best with phones. Geoff is staying low here, but has 5 octaves to play with. Eli, rhymes with belly, is simply a Rock God. He can tantalize us females with his lovely croon, then turn around and give us a Heavy Metal scream that would take the rust off the Titanic! Cesar has the voice of an Angel wrapped up in a package that makes me wish I was a decade (or five) younger. But in this he reached down to his toes for that Angst filled growl. He also does several Siamese Cat screeches in various songs. in one is visiting here, but is a member on sabbatical for the Navy. Hopefully he returns when he escapes from Federal custody. He was the rapper. Otherwise, he has a voice like silk. Pretty much all the guys also do character voices, although Eli is the Champ for that. Layne, our Drum Machine incarnate, has a rather fuzzy light Baritone he gifts us with on occasion. But the real red letter day is when the rare appearance of VioLayne happens. Layne is a fiddle player who deserves his gold one.
Welcome to the A Capella wonderland! Love your reaction! ❤ Glad you liked Voice play. There are many others with great talent too, but these guys are my fav. Hope you find the others to your liking too.
Those low notes are called subharmonics. Geoff has been working on those for some years now and just keeps getting lower. You really need to see the video. And headphones will make all the difference to the sound. which is lacking a lot of the richness you should be hearing. Yes an all male group and those high notes are from Eli (elly) who is rock tenor and master of riffs and runs elsewhere. Who are they? A group of fine singers and good friends, and a lot of fun. And they always bring something new and unexpected to any song they cover. You'll see. :)
You did well. No worries. It's very apparent you understand music and that's perfect. Voiceplay is incredible from Vikings to Disney to heavy metal. Have fun in the rabbit hole!
You should also watch through the credits as they and Geoff add extras during the credits. Not always but mostly. And headphones or earphones are a must with these guys.
I just wanted to join in and welcome you to the VoicePlay community! We love finding new reactors, I agree that having the video in front of you while you’re watching adds SO much! Even if it’s not on the screen for us. You’ll get to learn the guy’s personalities so much easier, they put so much into their videos and love putting humor into many of them! I’m guessing that some others will also mention that headphones really change the experience too, they do some really cool things with panning and background vocals. You can’t pick a bad VP video to be honest with you, their Disney and Broadway videos and medleys are always great, they are full of humor and alway jaw dropping. But if video isn’t an option at the moment, I’d recommend maybe their True Colors, I Can Go The Distance, I Can’t Make You Love Me, and their Unchained Melody. On those the visuals are more calm and more just focused on the music, welcome to the VoicePlay rabbit hole 🐇🎩 I’m excited to see your channel grow! Best of luck to you hun 💛💛💛
I'm here for the reaction, so pause away! Enjoyed the reaction, though you are missing so, so much if you can't see it. These guys put tons of effort into the visuals. They are as much actors as they are an a Capella group. Eli is a the rock god, for more songs with his amazing rock sound check out Carry On Wayward Son, Dream On, Nothing Else Matters and Eli Kills it at Superstition.
Despite the poor audio quality, you are awesome. Subscribed in anticipation of more great reactions. To those who pointed out that many of us go to reaction videos because there is something special about the reactors, thank you.
When you get a chance watch the video. It is soooo dang good! They worked hard on it and endured 100* heat while filming so it is that much more gritty looking.
I actually checked out the video as soon as they uploaded it as I saw it on Spotify with no video to begin with. I didn't know about the heat thing, their commitment to it is unreal
I was just gonna add that Geoff Castellucci is their bass and he has his own channel. J None is their guest but he used be part of the group before he joined the Navy. He has his own channel. And of course there's Layne Stein the beat boxer he owns Pattycake Studios and they release mini musicals as well. 😊
Love your enthusiasm BTW - you have a great personality, which for me, is the main selling point. As for other comments, don't worry about them. You'll get the hang of stuff on your own time, and we'll be here to watch you grow. Adding a video will be nice eventually - voiceplay's video production is usually awesome as well. When you actually see this, it will even blow you away more. Besides that, one other thing will help - your audio is coming out mono for the music, so it sounds a bit tinty. Not a killer starting out, but eventually, you'll want to clean it up. So besides getting video on board and getting the audio mix, bring your own winning personality, and you should be golden. And congrats on your TH-cam Maiden Voyage!
Thank you so much for the kind words! The audio was tricky because I was using a speaker, however, I have some tricks up my sleeve for the next reaction that I think will make them so much better. I appreciate you stopping by!

just a tiny bit of advice. in order to really get the feel of acapella, you need a headset or earbuds. they make a huge difference. geoff will vibrate your heart into stopping
Try Hoist the Colours, Dragonborn Comes Skyrim, Dream On, Nothing Else Matters, I Can't Make You Love Me and Tennessee Whiskey for starters. Geoff has his own channel - Sounds of Silence, Far Over the Misty Mountains Cold, Ain't No Sunshine. Do get the videos. All of the Voiceplay members have worked within Disney, Universal and other themeparks in Orlando and know the value of the visuals in addition to the amazing vocals.
@@BrammaBoyReacts I'll enjoy your reactions. VP has over 800 videos and I've seen most of them in the 1.5 yrs I've been watching them. Geoff started his own channel during the covid pandemic that shut down their touring schedule. He's probably approaching 50 videos now. He does his own background vocals - usually with the Geoff clones so the videos took a while to complete. My first exposure was during October 2021 with Geoff doing the Monster Mash. Looking for more I found VoicePlay and Hoist the Colours. My life has not been the same since. Better. Welcome to the rabbit hole where you will find hordes of VP and Geoff fans. They have done some Disney stuff like the little mermaid, Mona and We Don't Talk about Bruno. Geoff has on on youtube too which done a few thing. The also done the Oogie Boogie's Song also They did ACA Top 10 stuff. The also did Halo theme.
My Mother Told Me impressed me when I heard it or whenever I hear it, but it has NOTHING on Valhalla Calling. Do get the video and try again. VoicePlay puts an incredible amount of effort into the costuming, staging, and overall visual quality of their videos. They will not block you.
