25 years have passed since Matthew Shepard, a young, gay student at the University of Wyoming was kidnapped, beaten & left to die in a field under a blanket of stars. When Matthew passed, the world reacted, passing hate crime legislation at the state & federal level. Composer Craig Hella Johnson dramatically weaves together endless musical styles & texts to convey light prevails over darkness & love over hate.
Additionally, we warmly invite you to prepare for the performance in a pre-concert discussion on Thursday, March 23rd at 11:05 AM in the Lobby Classroom (Fishbowl) of the Little Library and to process the performance in a post-concert discussion on Monday, March 27 at 4:30 PM in the 900 Room of the Alvarez Union.
Free and open to the public. Tickets are not required.
