    I'm probably the worst undercover fan with my profile pic here, but Ray Lewis and Ed Reed are the main reasons I became a Ravens fan.. what keeps me a fan, though, is how Ozzie Newsome and Eric DeCosta have carried on a tradition of excellence through the draft and through culture that's hard to beat from any team in any sport. Daz being partial to the number 8 and Aidan being newish to the NFL makes me want to sell you guys on switching to BAL fandom ("pure class" by Daz standards), but regardless of the teams you guys cover I'm a fan of the NFL reactions.

    Ray Lewis's primary responsibilities were to plug the run in the middle of the defense as well as cover running backs and tight ends in the short and middle zones of the field. He had a few sacks here and there on surprise blitzes or if the QB stepped up in the pocket and Lewis came up to tackle them.
    Lawrence Taylor on the other hand played as an outside LB who was primarily responsible for rushing the passer from the edge and setting the edge on his side of the field against the run which means he was responsible for making sure a RB didn't get outside of him and forced him back toward the middle of the field so that his teammates can catch him from the backside.
    Another player who reminds me of the great MLBs of the old days like Ray Lewis, Dick Butkis, and Mike Singletary and was probably my favorite MLB back in the 90s was Chris Spielman.
    Spielman played 10 years but his career was cut short after a herniated disc in his neck ended his season early in 1997 and then after recovering his wife got cancer and he took more time off and he never played again. Great player and even a better person and may be worth a reaction. Not a ton of videos on him but here is a short one in you're interested

  • @vct454
    @vct454 ปีที่แล้ว +17

    As far as raw talent, Lawrence Taylor was indeed better. But he was also playing a completely different role, he was playing outside and was rushing the passer a lot so he had a lot more flashier plays hitting the quarterback and causing turnovers.
    Ray Lewis was playing middle linebacker and they're often the "quarterbacks" of the defense. They're responsible for relaying calls from the coaches and they have to know everyone's assignments, and Ray Lewis was unmatched when it came to being the leader of his team. Everyone around him played better because they knew they had to answer to him if they messed up.

    -As a Browns fan, this always hurt.... F#CK Art Modell!!!!! 🙄
    -The crop top look has been around since the early 70s. Mostly by mistake, cause the jersey didn't fit tight to the body, but was made to tear away so that tacklers couldn't get a tight grip on their jersey and throw them down. During the game, it left a mid drift look to the uniforms. In the80's players cut the bottoms of their jerseys and tied them in a knot behind them. It was believed by doing this made it harder for them to be tackled. It was banned in 2010 by the NCAA after Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliot made it popular again and went and won the National Championships that year.
    -You should do a video on his linebackers coach, Hall of Famer and Chicago Bears linebacker "Samurai" Mike Singletary. He was the one that got Ray to the level he was at. That man had a crazy stare on the field...
    -16 out of 22 cover players have suffered the curse....
    -LT was an outside linebacker...
    -Lewis was leaving a Super Bowl party in 2000 when 2 men were stabbed to death. He and two other men were charged with double murder and aggravated assault. He pleaded to a misdemeanor of obstruction of justice and the charges against him were dropped with his testimony against the other two. Both of the other men were acquitted of all charges. In '99 he had an assault case brought up on him from a woman who said he punched her.

    For every great Super Bowl winning MLB, there's a great Defensive Tackle playing in front of him. Notice Lewis was a great LB, but Baltimore wasn't winning until Goose and Sam Adams got there? They retired and he didn't win another SB until DT Haloti Ngata and NT Terrance Cody were on the team. QBs get all the credit but name a SB winning QB that didn't have a DT on his team playing at a high level and I'll show you the exception. I've been saying it for years, DT is a top 5 position of importance. Every expert with a mic will say QB, LT, DE, C, CB. Not me, DT belongs somewhere in there.

    The cover-athlete curse has just been people getting injured. Several times, the players just have a crappy season or they fall off completely. Steeler fans would say Lambert and Bears fans would say Butkus. They are all great. To the morons talking about Ray Lewis murdering someone, here's what happened. Lewis and his entourage were engaged in an argument with some men when leaving a SB party in 2000. A fight broke out and two men were stabbed and killed. Initial suspicions were on Lewis and 2 of his friends. Since Ray was in the near vicinity of the stabbings, blood splattered onto his white suit, to which the genius legal expert commentators here imply that means Lewis was the murderer, even though BLOOD SPLATTERS when you're close to the stabbing and is not evidence of ANY SORT that he was the murderer (ask any prosecutor or defense lawyer). However, it did show he was near the stabbing. Lewis initially lied to the police about not being there, thus he accepted a plea deal for misleading police. Charges were eventually brought against Lewis' two friends from that stabbing, but they were found not guilty. Later on, although he did not have to and there was no civil suit, Lewis gave significant amounts of money to the families of the victims. Lewis turned his life around after the incident and became a mentor and counselor to many fellow and future NFL players.

That’s 100% facts over feelings. Like all these Lebron fans, it’s cute but Lebron’s not Michael, shouldn’t even be in the same argument. That’s also like comparing Ray Lewis to Tom…. really? Are they close? Lewis is closer to Tom than Lebron is to MJ. Ray Lewis amazing, but the greatest leader? Brady took that title indefinitely years ago….
