exactly. and 2 yrs of excellent coaching, as opposed to the horrid coaching he received under hue & freddy. look at all the great young qbs around the league... josh allen, lamar jax, pat mahomes. they've all had one thing their entire young careers - good coaching. can't wait to see baker hit the ground running in yr 2 under stefanski.

Anyone who knows anything about QB play agrees that dude has a top notch arm talent. It was just he let his footwork get sloppy in Cleveland and was struggling to make it thru progressions, and recognizing coverages pre to post snap. Happy to see he's finally putting it together in Tampa

@@standyourground9973 Manziel has a weak arm, Mayfield's is top tier. Allen broke the velocity record at 62 MPH while Mayfield threw for 60. Manziel didn't throw but I'd guess he would throw around 52 MPH. Deshaun Watson has a laughable arm at 45 MPH.
He improved significantly this season. Also threw only 3 picks from Week 7 onward. I don’t think you can blame today’s loss on him.
gor9027 It was TOTALLY not his fault! If anything, the refs missed some important calls that costed us the game. However, I’m not upset about it. The Browns completely exceeded my expectations coming into this season. And we’re gonna come back next year even stronger!
Especially after the lack defense. I’m highly confident if baker had one more shot at the end there the browns could’ve walked off with a TD.

Browns don't get benefit of the doubt calls like that. The Jags game we had to win literally twice, Chiefs game our biggest chance to win was taken from us by the refs, and Jets game they took a touchdown off the board incorrectly and then gave the ball back to the Jets. His rookie year a defender smashed Mayfield in the head and they stopped the play so the ref could specifically explain why it was allowed and said word for word, "the QB is still a runner and therefore is allowed to be hit in the head". Cleveland fans are used to getting screwed by bad calls.

@Abdul Gbadegesin no qb is gonna put mvp numbers with that offense. They are a power run team first. Without play action and that offensive line, it would have been another bad year for baker

Watching this in 2022, not sure what to say about 2021, but you can't tell me THIS Baker is gone. Precision passing , good decisions, and NOT throwing to first read. It's puzzling with what happened this year (2021), but I just can't write this guy off. GO BROWNS!!!!
People discount the effect his injury had on his ball placement. A healthy Baker w/ a healthy line is better than 18+ other starters in the league
Too bad. His rookie season he was the only QB to throw for 300 yards agsinst the Ravens, and he did it twice. He's good with ball fakes. Keeping the linebackers and safeties guessing. He couldn't do that with the injury and the braces.

Hopefully the world gets back to normal this year and Baker and the Browns have a full off-season this summer. Either way, for the first time IN HIS ENTIRE NFL CAREER Baker will be going into a new season with the same offense he ran the previous year. That is going to make a massive difference for him and for this team. Baker will be a Pro Bowler and MVP candidate next season, mark my words. He is NOT going to forget how this season ended (neither is the rest of the team), and they are going to come out of the gates with a vengeance next season. They are going to be angry and motivated and I really think that they will have an even better season than they did this year.

We all knew he had talent, and now he's in the same offensive system for more than one year at a time, he can start balling out. Already is in fact.
Baker has a future in Cleveland. What he needs to do is continue to improve and get better. 2021 will be a huge year for him, in terms of money and reputation. Eventually, Chubb and Hunt will be better game planned by defensive coordinators and defenders. Therefore, Baker has no choice but to step up and be ready. He has the coach, weapons, and talent. But I do believe he will get better.

The game-winning drive against Cincy brings tears to my eyes. Clutch performance from Baker. Clutch catches from Hollywood and DPJ. Win over rival that built trust and chemistry with our team. It was a few more weeks until all the wheels were turning, but the end of that game felt like a turning point when the team realized that they could march down the field and score with such dominance.
Watching the end really makes you realize how dirty the Chiefs defense is

It’s interesting it’s his judgment that made people question his worth coming out when watching him it’s clear by far his best attribute is his intellect, you see him process information as quickly as anyone. How fast he’s processing at the red zone is insane. He’s like a mix of Brees and Favre, in the confidence and ability to make every throw like Favre, and intellect to process as fast as Brees.

This guy can clearly play and was badly hurt from the beginning of the season on. I have no doubt he's going to go elsewhere and crush it, he's a winner whose already defied all odds.
Many talking heads at that time were saying that Baker was holding the team back, but look at the numbers of the 3 QB’s he faced in those games: Watson, Carr, and Wentz all had bad numbers in those games as well.

That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. Let me guess, is Paul Pierce ahead of Bill Russell on their alltime list? 😂. I get it, but realistically Graham is one of the most *important* athletes ever, and has accomplishments that some other players won’t reach. Gotta put some respect on his name & Bernie Kosar was pretty good but Baker should pass him much easier.
I love Baker but to claim that Otto was somehow a lesser player because of the era in which he played is LAUGHABLE. Otto played in an era in which ANYTHING was allowed. Hell, Paul Brown (the head coach of the Browns) literally invented the face mask for NFL helmets after Otto ran for a first down, was tackled out of bounds and a Linebacker came FLYING in after the play and SMASHED his elbow into Otto's face as he was laying defenseless on the ground! It split Otto's face open and gave him a concussion, he went into the locker room, got stitches and came back out to finish the game. In today's NFL that Linebacker would've been kicked out of the league if he did that to a QB. We live in the most QB-friendly era in NFL history and if somebody like Otto Graham played today he would be EVEN BETTER than he was in his day...not WORSE!

Baker is a monster. And this will be the first year of his NFL career he gets to play the same system a second year...
Baker looked damn good this year. He’s no incredible athlete, no square-jawed pretty boy, no goodie goodie coach’s pet. He’s a little short, a little squat, a little slow, and he’s had his share of distractions on and off the field. He’s no Peyton Manning or Tom Brady. But he has guts, determination, a chip on his shoulder and a great arm. He’ll outwork anyone, and then continue working.
I’d trade the 40 time, the height, the hand size, the charismatic interviews, any day, for a guy like this. He’s precisely the type of guy franchises like Cleveland need for resurrect their reputation. He’ll lead this team to at least 1 Super Bowl. Great antihero for those of us who are similarly imperfect and fighting for every yard.
So in 2018 people would have said he was the next Tom Brady or Peyton Manning than he has one bad season, Stefanski fixes him and gets him back on track but no one will talk about him the same because of this stupid stigma surrounding him..

Unpopular opinion (outside of Browns fan circles): Baker is the best QB in the AFC north and the third best in the AFC, without the run game Lamar is an average/solid QB at best.
