The rear axle that broke like a pen was repaired by a mechanic which was an incredible repair. The mechanic repaired it very well which was a novel repair. Don't be considered useless. Nothing is useless and it can be made useful

Wonderful knowing how to fix something when needed and not just buy new parts and install. go with what you got A++++++
It’s so important to keep the right goal in mind. The goal should be to make it work well. Not to look well. A very important distinction.
Respect.
Very creative solution. Judging from the break, the repair was stronger than the original part. Excellent use of "what's at hand" to effect an otherwise irreparable situation.
Aside from lacking heat treatment to restore the original temper, this is not too bad. 3 pins and a lot of weld is certainly a fix that will get you out of a pinch if you're unable to get new parts. I'm not too sure how long it will last without heat treatment though. Ultimately you run with what you got. Good job lads!
6:50 left side, the weld already cracked.
You are dumb. This will snap the moment the truck goes into gear
Same thought, exactly. Considering everything, what else he could do to prepare the material better?
A pipe sleeve would have been smarter. This is fucking dumb. Building on a broken foundation
Pre-heating
When parts are not as readily available, you work with what you've got.
Americans don’t fix nothing no more change apart change apart. They don’t attempt to try to fix anything anymore whatsoever the foreign people no fix it because it’s cheaper Americans don’t have time to fix nothing they gotta go they got time to stop and fix something and save their wallet, they like digging in and going broke.
no shit?
I just couldnt help not to laugh after the pin cracked the shaft
Good job
Pretty certain there are voids and discontinuity in the repair, HOWEVER it's way better than the alternative of being without an axle.
Hats off to the Technician.
Let's see it fitted and working in a vehicle

Very nice 👍🙂 performance 👏👍 job congratulations 👏🎉 to you
WELL DONE 👍 I LIKE IT 👍 CARRY ON THANKS FOR SHARING 🙏👌👍
FELICITANIOS A ESE GENIO.
This is like putting a bandaid on a heart attack......
Like ' pop riveting ' some hot roll steel bar onto a broken leaf spring and expecting it to hold the same weight.
Even if he were to take a round bar of steel and using his lathe and cutting tools completely duplicate the axle, it would twist like a porch rail.
Seeing the end it is more closely resembling filling a hole in a Fender with newspaper and glue then painting over it. It looks real good so long as nobody touches it.
Excelente trabajo 👍
Nice !! That thing is like new
These must be Dorman Remanufactured Axles. Save $20.
I have my doubts on how long that will
Last. Its a neat idea , but falls short in the stresses it will be put ip against
did you see the interior all rust jacked..... But it is a fix. There will a reason why it dies under another 20 ton load
The axle once again cracked while hammering the rivets. The material has become brittle. They should have stopped at that point but stubbornly went forward to repair it. It wont last more than few hours after reinstallation.
I'm pretty sure they engineered in every single one of the stress Risers that are available. I'm surprised that it didn't fracture when the machinist dropped it on the concrete.
Excellent 👌
I've seen many of these videos and they do amazing work with what they have at hand because some parts cost to much or take to long to arrive so they improvise but in this case it should be for a light duty truck.
When such a half-axle will stand in the bus that transports you or your family! Then you will say how good it is. Only for the fact that they undertake such So-to-say repairs should be put behind bars.

There are ways to do this type of repair however, this is not one of them. I don't know what it will be used for but it broke once I assumed from overload. I would not expect it to get kilometers of use it will most likely fail within meters. Whoever owns the vehicle it goes on has just wasted his money. Hopefully, no one will be injured when it fails.
So true did you see the crack after the pins put in .it want from a long joint to a butt joint at that point I assure you it will fail as soon as it gets under a load as soon as the amount of torque gets applied to it it's going to twist at that joint.......good idea but poor execution
Yeah….. this will never hold up, hopefully no one will get injured when it fails…
Good work guys
Great job! Guys! 👌👍
They fixed it in there bare feet good job😊
EXCELENTE TRABAJO,QUEDO COMO NUEVO.FELICITACIONES POR ESTO.
Not only Bad but crazy repair. If I'm the driver, I don't risk driving this kind of thing. Hi guys, if the axle is damaged, replace it a new one.
The great Works
Reattach fine work
I'll be damned, I've never in my 30 years of being a mechanic seen an axle repair like that or any other repair. I've always replaced them. I hope it works out for the best😊

This raises the pucker factor when hitting steep grades. RIP lorry driver.
What they are doing is a crime, the root of the weld is not welded and the shaft will burst at any moment!

Great job gentlemen. Lots of respect from Bengaluru Bharat. Very innovative. Keep up the good work God Bless.

Love them carbide chips!
These guys usually take really good care of their old machinery i was surprised to see welding over that red lathe's ways with no blanket,
Yeah, that current flow can also kill the bearings.
@@bills6093 i was thinking more about the weld spatter on the ways.
@@pghgeo816 Yes, that's why I said "also".
The ' absolutely brilliant ' fellows will be wondering why the bearings in their brand new lathe are shot already.

Parabéns 🎉🥳🎈👏 trabalho de vocês é show de bola 👋👍
Is this profitable ? compare to purchase a new axle, the manpower, material used and time consume is also a matter
Its better to get it exchanged from any scrap dealer for some money. Anyhow a second hand spare part is better than badly repaired one. There are many second hand dealer in their country i hope. They even sell stolen vehicle parts by dismantling them in an hour.
good quality work ive watched, this one is not that. axle for sure will not last long
The end result looks good and would work to get you to a truck shop or buy time to find an axle from the salvage yard. Not a permanent fix although no one would ever know the inside is all messed up. I think it would work long enough for the owner to sell it (best outcome) or someone to get into the mountains, then when the bandits attack and it breaks because they floor-it to get away, you don't have to worry about anyone making it out to come back and complain.
You guys certainly do have a lot of skills and abilities. Another way you could have repaired it would be a thermite weld like is used to repair train rails, then the engine lathe could turn it to size and it would solid all the way through. Just a thought.

If they repair engines as well as they do axels, these axels won’t see enough torque to break the repair.
If that’s broke in the first place the truck has been overloaded , so three pins and weld half way through the shaft isn’t going to do the job , it needs a heat cycle to , Looks pretty tho 👍
Yes, molecular structure is weak due to stress, it needs heat treatment to gain its original strength back. I don't think its going to work.
Curious what the cost of this compared to even a used replacement!? They obviously have Internet.
Looks like it would get you home and make a good spare, but I'd be swapping it out for a new one ASAP.
Seriously.? the words chocolate and carrot come to mind.
SHOW!👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Hmmm... Why No Heat Number One ... When You Bend Steel Cold it Caused internal Fractures. This is Sooo Wrong on Many Levels... and More than likely cause someone to ba Serious Injures.
That’s why we get things cheaper here because they get shipped from overseas and it’s fixed and people don’t know what the damage was and you can’t tell the damage you think it’s rebuilt or brand new and it’s not it’s just been repaired that’s why they put a warranty on things with welders and machinery we have now a lot of things can be fixed so Americans don’t do it they just want to replace replace brand new brakes to it’s all in how you weld it
Vishesh👍😊
Hello all I wonder how many lbs strength on the rods as that counts too for strength gd Idea for a repair say if was not possible to buy part
This guy is a modern day blacksmity/engineer good job
lacking heat treatment to restore the original temper ?
it will last until the twist is strong enough to break it again
Unusual break, the thing shattered. Normally I see axles twist and sheer relatively cleanly.
Muito trabalho e pouco eficiente
Nothing wrong here.. for what it seems to be.. use of Wild West Rods for those Wide Open Spaces.. and some ChumbaWumba Rosettes for them Bolt Ends... GROOVY !
Could be a tractor, or a medium duty truck, van or bus???…nevertheless those welds are only surface depth..and the pins are surface welded…I don’t hold out much hope…
It IS a bad repair that leaves a weak spot it the axle. It may look pretty, but you'll be lucky to get out the door of the shop with breaking it again. 😂😂
I would have cut the sides of the two pieces down with the grinder to a 1/8" thickness where they met in the center of the axle. Then, clamp them in a piece of angle iron for alignment. Next, I'd make two or three tack welds and then check it on the lathe, if I had one. At that step, you make any alignment corrections that are necessary and start filling up the grooves with short welds alternating between sides to minimize bending when the welds cool. Once about a third of the thickness is rebuilt in the center, you can make longer welds. Key points to consider are that the center weld gets burnt in well and that all flux is removed before continuing to weld in order to avoid holes and voids. Once the weld is a bit higher than the original surface, you can grind it down to match the rest of the axle or cut it on a lathe, if you have one. It doesn't have to be pretty to be strong, and it can even be thicker than the original axle as long as it passes through the bearing it's going into. And you can heat treat it if you have the setup for that in your shop.
It won't last 15 minutes on the truck that it came from! Thare was a second fractur that he only made a superficial weld, and no heat treatment.
Axles are designed like a spring to twist under a load the correct repair was to change the axle.
He drilled through it like it was made of cheese, no wonder it broke, it will break again as soon as its installed. Sensible mechanic would just replace it with a better quality 😂😊
Its like watching Tolkien Elves fixing that that couldn't be repaired....
It’s all in your welding skills. You can make something stronger than ever.
Sounded like 7018 welding rod.
Maybe some 5p 6010 if he used a root pass on the bevels.
Very in safe
we'll wear do we start? wants the leaf parts cutting of first two tapered points and infill with the correct rods until over fill joint the shaft is tempered spring steel. so will need re tempered after the lathed and balanced to size...the speed and feeds are a joke and no lubricant. and if, and only if. it will only carry bread rolls not 400 logs.....and we all know it's just for content? never see them working just in the skip round the back 😂😂😂😂
