As an American I am aware of the stereotypes we have as a country. Today I am very curious to continue hearing from Norwegians about what they honestly think of America and Americans. If you enjoyed the video feel free to leave a comment, like, or subscribe for more!

Have you ever considered making videos of you having a conversation with a Norwegian?
Like over voice or video chat with a variety of people from different places here in Norway and on top of that you could also talk to people from different generations as well. Could be a ton of potential content and you'd also learn a lot about Norway from the ones you talk to, just an idea that popped into my head.
Keep up the good content, it's nice to learn about you guys' culture through these videos too!
Posted this on your previous video and I don't mean to spam, but I just wanted to see what you'd think of that idea.

Several times people, and you, mention how big and diverse the USA is.
Worth to mention is the fact that Europe is bigger than USA and with about the same population.
We can have 5-10 different languages spoken within a few hour’s ride with a car.
There is different cultures, holidays, political systems and even currencies!
      THAT is diverse!

As for social customs, and I am ofc very much biased as a Norwegian. But I feel like navigating in the Norwegian social sphere is somewhat more relaxed than the American way. Because although you guys are way better at small talk, and the "shallow" end so to speak, of social interactions, it seems there is a much higher pressure on "proving yourself"/being boisterous/make people notice you, in an American setting.
While as an "ambivert" Norwegian, I rarely feel the need to "prove myself" to others, and usually act and behave as I normally would. Been interesting while traveling abroad, as from my experience this attitude seems to be seen as relaxed, easy going and genuine.
And although I certainly think most Americans are likely equally as empathic and kind as most Norwegians, there does seem to be a societal lack of empathy for those less fortunate in the US. As in people of low social status seems to be viewed as it being wholly their own fault, without the sense that sometimes life can really kick you in the teeth, without it being within your control.
Overall, I can see good and bad sides of both cultures in this regard, but I do think we land closer to atleast social hamony, more relaxed attitude, and seeing people more in a fair and empathic light.

You mention the "Janteloven" And something very funny is that you have to carry the "Janteloven" with you every day, and remember it, but as soon as you start looking for a job, you just forget the "Janteloven" as soon as you sit down in one interview for a position. Then you have to brag about yourself, and promote what you are good at. So in job interviews, most Norwegians are probably quite bad, but you get better after a few interviews!

I was on a rivercruice in China, and met this guy called Paul. He had been a far East expert in the White House for ten years. No he had resigned, and visited far East for the first time. To me that was shocking. I was 20, he was about 50, and he thought I might be a spy, because he thought I knew to much about American institutions and politics.

I have a few American friends, and I do understand why they don’t travel that often abroad. I have five weeks of vacation every year, and from what I understand that’s pretty rare in the States. You’re usually higher up in the system and probably older when you get those privileges. If I only had 12 days perhaps, traveling far away would be so much more difficult.

The poor slaves of America dont have the money or the time to travel. USA is a developing country compered to Norway. More like UK, Russia and India. I call USA "the land of the poor and homeless people".
The poor Americans do several jobs, and are still poor as fuck. They never speak of politics, and worship ancient uncontrolled capitalism as God, without looking at developed nations and their modern solutions.
When most Norwegians earn $30+ an hour, the Americans can get as little as $10 an hour fully legal. Even less if they work in some kind of service.
Try to tell Americans that even staff at McDonald earn more then $22 an hour + tip in Norway, and that no Norwegian would work for less.
And when we get free education, and free health care in developed countries, and everybody get their own money to live from, the poor Americans only get free prison. That is why the USA have almost 20 times more people (per C) in prison then developed countries.

The Law of Jante is a ficticious law from a fictitious place in a novel . It is the things that hold Norwegians back from even loving themselves. It is a parody of sorts, how you can't stick out because people think that means they have the right to critisize you and make fun of you, even try to stop you. Also this love of other's failures.. 11:30 Norwegians are NOT an objective third party in the least!
EVERY news organisation in this country is owned and driven by politically left-leaning people, state financed one included. We don't have ANY right-leaning newsoutlets, and the few we had were boycoted and slandered by the mainstream ones. The one true right leaning party we had was ousted from one of the biggest political events of the country (arendalsuka) by every other political party AND every single news outet present. I haven't seen them mentioned in the mainstream news ever since.
Not once did anyone EVER on Norwegian mainstream news say anything even remotely positive about Trump or anything Trump has ever done. Like or dislike the man, he did SOME good. Abraham accords not the least, but our media barely touched that, and when they did, every "expert" they invited to speak on the subject was exclusively negatively angled towards the deal.
Kinda like CNN, CBS, ABC, etc.
