It breaks my heart to see these magnificent majestic big cats, bears, primates, and... having their senses and instincts whittled down to a living, breathing, stuffed animal!

Until people quit breeding or start to spay/neuter it will always be a problem!!
I wish there were more strict-er laws when it comes to breeding then maybe it would shut down the horrible backyard breeders!!
Like make people who are selling pets be a legit business, pay taxes, get licenses and have strict enforcement on it...but it will never happen..but if it did, maybe it would help.
I do not know the rules or laws for 'breeders', but I think if u gana make new lives, charge what they charge & make ANY kind of living/money off of other living heartbeats, then there should be laws on it & a team 2back up & enforce those laws...
Then maybe the need a home pet population would go down & maybe all the rescuers could be in charge of the breeders..that would b in a perfect world tho with empty shelters...sorry for rambling its just heavy on my heart!!!

That’s not completely true. They are a VERY aggressive breed, despite how they’re treated as puppies. Like yes they are more aggressive when abused as puppies, but that’s the same for every dog. Pit bulls, however, are aggressive whether they’ve been abused or not. I had had a pitbull puppy since the day he was born, and we had many great years together, but after those 7 years together he attacked me and was biting and scratching at me. There was so much blood and skin everywhere and I was scared for my life. My dog had had a great life nothing bad ever happened to him, yet he still turned on me for no reason. I had to put him down because he was a danger to people as well as other dogs. He never had rabies, even at the time he attacked so there was no way to explain why he attacked other than that pit bulls are aggressive by nature

Adopt don't shop only applies to family pets. You can't adopt a working dog line Border collie from a shelter that's already trained to herd sheep you know. I think adopt don't shop paints even reputable working dog line breeders as evil. Which any breeder whose morally sound knows you don't breed dogs like factory and you certainly always have homes lined up if your a reputable breeder. It's why paying to reserve puppies from breeders is a thing. People are often so quick to judge that they don't realize not all breeders are bad and not all shelter dogs are suited for the work that some purebreds specialize in.

Watching short videos here on the Dodo channel gives me some comfort, especially when I can see how much kindness and compassion is existing all around for disabled dogs (or any other animal) that live in shelters or have been abused and finally find new homes with people that possess a big golden and compassionate heart. This is extremely sad and extremely heartwarming at the same time.
6 yrs in kennel, running in circles due to kennel dementia (sorry to the dude below who wishes to believe it was her way of 'staying healthy,' whilst in a small square kennel for 6 yrs.)
This absolutely breaks my heart. I seen this myself many times when I worked in a shelter some 20yrs ago now. It cut me to the core and has stayed with me all this time. That, and the amount of dogs killed because there just isnt the room or funds to keep them until rehomed or to give them their medical needs to be rehomed in the first place.
And ppl wonder why I get so annoyed at everyone wanting puppies and going to breeders.
Love dogs? Then adopt *don't* shop, and give a dog such as Vikki a loving home that deserve.
We are the ones that bred and domesticated dogs in the first place. It's our fault the shelters are full.
On the upside, thank God for lovely people as this Mother and daughter. Not only helping out at the shelters but also then taking on a blind dog that's gonna take some settling into a house after so long in kennels.
They seem so sweet and I hope they can keep Vikki until she breathes her last breath. 🙏❤

@Trixie Pooh Yeh, I can understand why you might say what you saw made you and other volunteers not like ppl very much. It really opened my 19yr old eyes at the time for sure. From other staff at the shelter let's just say not doing their job properly, to owners coming in looking for their dogs that maybe escaped only to find them, both be over the moon theube found each other, and then to walk away cos they refused to pay the fee incurred (the sounds of those dogs, esp the old ones having just seen their owners and thinking they were going home when their owners didn't then come back for them still haunts me now, truly,) to the dog wardens who had no respect for the dogs they were bringing in, just doing the job for £, to the Trustee's and the vet... Absolutely appalling. I was heart broken, and still am.. And I'm now almost 45.
However, since then, and in other jobs I've worked in and ppl I've since come across in my lifetime, has showed me that there are SO many good and caring ppl in the world. Prepared to walk across fire almost for others. It's good for ones own sanity to see that there are two sides to a coin. 😉
And I absolutely agree, about the cats! Wayyyyy too much breeding is allowed to go on when there are sooooooo many cats already, and without homes.
We need more vets willing to give up some of their precious time (£$£$) to spay and neuter for, if not free, then a VERY minimal amount. I mean certainly for the males, it's a one minute, very simple procedure!
And legislation regarding the keeping of animals to tightened with neutering and chipping a prerequisite.
      That's my opinion, anyway! Ha
You do a commendable work feeding and caring for homeless cats.
It's definitely a big *thank you* from me!

I rescued both of my dogs from a breeding kennel. I literally stalked the women's listings throughout my state, waiting for the day that she had no 'puppies for sale' ads left - she breeds 8 different breeds, so it took awhile ! When that day finally came, I cold called her , and asked if she would sell me a couple of her breeders, knowing she couldn't turn down the money. What I went through with this sick woman in order to get the dogs has been pure insanity, but so worth it in the end. Both of my babies are blind, but tbey are so happy now, they couldnt care less lol. I've managed to get 6 of those poor breeder dogs out of her house , and placed with good people who love them. When I first get them, there are no words for the horrendous state they're in. It takes months & months to get them healthy sometimes. Naturally, I want to punch her in the face, but since her local authorities will do nothing to stop her, I patiently wait for her to be broke, and she called me the last time. I pray that I get them all outta there someday ! Doggos rule !

I fostered a blind dog. She'll have the layout of the house and yard memorized by the end of the first day. Dogs use their noses as their primary sense, not their eyes anyways.

Thats correct . I knew a blind dog that had his territory and yard fully mapped after two days ,including obstacles.

fofork yea, that is true. My neighbors have a blind dog, and they take care of him, but a few months ago it had escaped the house somehow, and was walking down the street in the cold rain. Poor dog was scared, so I brought him Into my house, dryed him off good, and held him until my neighbors got back, in which i carried the (then sleeping) dog back to his house. Thankfully he is all good now, but I cant imagine how scared he was in the cold rain, in the middle of nowhere, where he cant see
