Take the good looks and “mojo” of Elvis, the pure sound, phrasing and electricity of Sinatra, mix with the ruggedness of Cash, put in the heart of a West Texas cowboy singing in a Lubbock honkey -tonk and the sweet harmony of Willie, then put him in one of America’s top bars, the Continental Club, and you have the MAN himself ….Dale Watson. By the way this guy can dance!! Good on Ya, Dale.
I know it's been said a thousand times but Mr. Watson's music should be what is playing all over the radio today instead of what is being played. He's the real deal. Nuff said!
I Knew this guy Personally from The Satellite Lounge and The Continental Club in Htown & ATX. He’s TRUE to his music and his songwriting shows it. I’ve witnessed Extremely HARD times for him. He’s a GREAT guy! Underrated 1000% TX knows him. He should be a National Talent
Great song, great musicians and harmonies. One of so many wonderful tunes that Dale and the boys have put together. Thank you so much for posting this.
I program my patients music hearing aid program to this song, perfect amount of highs and lows with plenty of mid range..and his voice is perfect for mid to low programming..
Now we know "who's gonna fill their shoes"... Dale Watson Sturgill Simpson Cody Jinks Jamie Johnson Tyler Childers BlackBerry Smoke Whitey Morgan & The 78's Much love from Mobile Alabama.
I really like Dale Watson and love that I was introduced to him, have even gotten to see him live several times. But I have to ask, is this a riff of Glen Campbell's "Gentle on my Mind"? Because it sounds almost exactly like it
pretty common thing in country and/or folk music to use a popular melody or motif and write another song around it. In rock and/or pop, it's considered cheating, but in this context with an artist the caliber of Dale Watson, who has written hundreds of original songs, it is another thing. Plus, the results are pretty amazing.
Hundreds of songs- how many Country classics?. Hayden (Beethoven's teacher) wrote a close to a hundred symphonies- compared to Beethoven's Nine. None of them are well-known.
Officially it's called the " Pedal Steel Guitar " , one of the hardest instruments to play in the world, so when you see someone playing it pretty, then you're getting your moneys worth, lol
Sounds like he plagiarized it from Glen Campbell's 60's hit "Gentle on my mind." The verse is note for note. He should be dragged into court, just like poor old George Harrison.
I think Dale lacks ego. And he doesn't really record well. I think The Truckin' Sessions was his best recorded effort but came out at the wrong time and was the wrong theme. He's into honoring the tradition rather than making a name for himself. But see him live. Please. He will change your life.
Rip-off of Danny O'Keefe' "Good Time Charlie's Got The Blues' Even steals the lyric idea of "Get your/my act together' theme. Well played and sung, but still a rip-off. Also sounds like 'Gentle On My Mind'.
Listening to Dale puts a smile on my face and recently I have not had a lot of reasons to smile
❤
I can’t for the life of me understand why this guy is not a household name. He’s as good or better than most of what’s being played today.
Quite simple…he’s chosen not to be…he lives for his community familly and friends.🤗
Agree completely
awesome! GOD BLESS
agree Wow
Probably because he copied someone else's song.
keeping great music alive
the music and lyrics are what i like. this is really country and not the new crap of today. Dale is my hero and keeps the music alive thanks for that

Melts like butter in my musical soul. Classic guys Thank you
Dale Watson is great!....As usual! He can't lie!...
Not True. He only lies when he drinks.
Some of the prettiest music I've ever heard!
I know it's been said a thousand times but Mr. Watson's music should be what is playing all over the radio today instead of what is being played. He's the real deal. Nuff said!
Yes
Amen!!
Concur. Just discovered him. Amazing.
I would rather here him than the trash they play now

Dale is one of my music Heroes!
Top knotch music.
Dag-gum this one here is a dandy of a tune!
Whitey Morgan just did a cover on this classic that serves it fair justice I do believe.
This song has the same timeless feel as gentle on my mind by Glen
So good performance
Awesome song Dale I wonder if you wrote it for me lol
What a great song by a guy who can sing his ass off!
I can relate
I really like Dale Watson and love that I was introduced to him, have even gotten to see him live several times. But I have to ask, is this a riff of Glen Campbell's "Gentle on my Mind"? Because it sounds almost exactly like it
True country
Reminds me of Marshall Tucker.
why isn't this guy a freaking house hold name?
Just like Merle did with "I Take a Lot of Pride In What I Am"
Yessir, and Moe Bandy with 'Bandy The Rodeo Clown'
C'mon Dale - It's about time you got yourself back over to the UK... The NW would be a good starting point!
Hmmm... 'Gentle On My Mind' kind of feel
😍
Dale ist der beste
Schoen...sehr schoen. Dale ist der beste.
Whitey Morgans cover of this song is bad ass.
Es nuestro himno de los domingos, guai
Who is playing pedal steel on this? Great player!
It's Don Don Pawlek on the steel guitar

queremos Dale no Brasil
sounds like waylon jennings wtf! Though it was him singing, this is awesome. It's like Jennings did a cover of don't bring your guns to town.
Reminds me of Glen Cambell's ..Gentle On My Mind
What is the name of the instrument the long haired guy is playing?
Steel string
snickepie .DE Pedal Steel
Don Pawlak, fellow Ohioan, on steel. Best since Mooney!
Officially it's called the " Pedal Steel Guitar " , one of the hardest instruments to play in the world, so when you see someone playing it pretty, then you're getting your moneys worth, lol
Looks like a Sho-Bud?
inspired by gentle on my mind?
Is that Sonny Landreth on steel guitar?
Fretlovr v
going to see Dale in October in San Diego
next februari in Holland, HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
They don't allow country on the radio, answers your question and it's the reason why......
its funny my wife likes this song i think she is tryin to hint at something
Great job, but i don't think he was happy about the ending
Yep-hate to say but almost identical melody.
what psychopath would dislike this?
If you like dale check out zephaniah ohora np guys
Music remake Gentle On My Mind... sorry
This is Gentle on my Mind. People call him greatness when he copies a famous song.
I really like Dale Watson.
But this is clearly just a plain ripoff from Gentle on my mind.
Sounds like he plagiarized it from Glen Campbell's 60's hit "Gentle on my mind." The verse is note for note. He should be dragged into court, just like poor old George Harrison.
What about Merle's "I Take a Lot of Pride In What I Am" or Marshall Tucker's "This 'Ol Cowboy", Great songs with same sort of tune. I love them all!
I think Dale lacks ego. And he doesn't really record well. I think The Truckin' Sessions was his best recorded effort but came out at the wrong time and was the wrong theme. He's into honoring the tradition rather than making a name for himself. But see him live. Please. He will change your life.
