How to grow Peace Lily in water, cleaning the air of the room

- Peace lilies (Spathiphyllum), also known as closet plants, are a popular choice for offices and homes. When it comes to indoor plants, peace lily plants are some of the easiest to care for.
However, while peace lily plant care is easy, proper growing conditions are still important. Let’s take a look at the care of peace lilies. Growing Peace Lily As Houseplants Peace lilies make excellent houseplants for the home or office. These lovely plants not only brighten up a living space, but are also excellent at cleaning the air of the room they are in. Most commonly, these plants have dark green leaves and white “flowers.” What most people think of as the flower is actually a specialized leaf bract that grows hooded over the flowers. Like many popular indoor plants, peace lilies enjoy medium to low light. Which kind of light you need to provide will depend more on what you want your peace lily plant to look like. Peace lilies that are placed in more light tend to produce the lovely white spathes and flowers more, while peace lilies in low light will bloom less and will look more like a traditional foliage plant.

Выглядит действительно эффектно. Существует много видео с содержанием спатифиллума в воде. Однако, в советах по уходу за этим цветком говорится, что он не любит переувлажнение. И вот в Вашем видео заметила один момент, который вызвал сомнение у меня. При внимательном просмотре заметила в новых корнях фрагменты почвы.
Если изначально все было обрезано и вычищено, то этого не должно было быть.

This is amazing how the lily grows in water but if it is in soil and the soil is moist for a period of time then the leaves start to droop. I have just transplanted my plant as it got too big for the pot and divided it into 5 plants. It has new pots and new potting soil. A week later and the soil is still moist and the plants are all turning yellow and drooping like crazy. I had this plant for 4 years and it was doing so well until now.
Hi, when planting it in the ground, the soil must be well drained so that the roots are not waterlogged. But when the new roots grow in the water, it has been adapted to the aquatic environment so it will grow well.

Yes I think that the water roots are different to the soil roots, maybe that is why you cut the roots back so far after the plant has been in soil. .
@@GreatGardenTV I’ve got a 4-5 year old plant, but it’s not in the greatest condition. What soil type is best, should I use rocks for drainage? Can I unpot and clean the roots like you did and put it in water?

Many (many) years ago I saw Peace Lilies growing in water with a Beta fish swimming amongst the roots. Theory was it was a benefit to the plant and the fish in that they provided food for each other: fish poop for fertilizer and root material for the fish. I'm very interested in your thoughts about this.
We made the beta gardens you’re referring to (popular in the 90s) and they did really well for a long time… they were a calming addition to a room!
I have three water plant fish combos that have lived happily together for over 2 years..both plant and fish are very healthy

Planted mine in water and perlite. Changed the water weekly. It does have new leaf but why does the older leaves having yellow and brown tips. 😢

Change water one or twice a week. Once a week if your weren't able to get all the soil off the roots to avoid dirty water. And I seen another video where they say water is filled with many minerals and to not use fertilizer in the water.
None can answer because none know. Just putting out content
Here's another saying water is full of minerals and it's good for peace lily. Another saying to use distilled water which contains none. Be careful 😜 it's just content with no care taken in putting out bullshit and lots of it 🤑

@gaycha6589 I can say I learned something this evening. My wonderful friend recently died & her family threw it in their back yard, I noticed it & brought it home. It was wilted & the roots were dry it was a mess. I took it home & trimed of the dead leaves, put rocks in the bottom & great fresh black dirt, gave it to small cups of water & 3 hrs later it looks like I bought it!! Thank you for this video, I greatly appreciate it❤
