Fast food is absolutely ridiculous now. For so many years you could use $20 and feed two people. Now give the cashier a 20 and she’s gonna give you a few coins back just for one combo meal. Think we’ve finally reached the tipping point.

The increase of minimum wage is just an excuse for price increase because the actual wage Californian is mostly higher than $20 an hour before the minimum wage went up from $16 to $20. At the same time, the average net profit increased from 21% to 24% in 2023.
Companies raised prices , creating a false shortage, even though domestic goods were cheaper. Folks were willing to pay more, for convenience and a sense of normal. This carried over after lockdowns, and was accepted as inflation. It's crap, but folks are still buying.
The worst part about shrink flation is that the product also got worse than ever before too. The quality has gone to really bad and some of the stuff I used to buy at the stores taste different

I CAN confirm that 1-2 years ago the McDonald’s lemonade price increased to 2.50. AND WHEN YOU BOUGHT THEY ONCE MEDIUM THEY GAVE ME A SMALL WITH NO ICE!!! WHY MCDONALDS WHY
yesterday went to mcdonalds for the first time in months, it was right there after grocery shoping and i was hungry. It was a bit more expensive and all i ordered was a mcdouble extra ketchup(cause it forces them to make it somewhat fresh since you cant slap extra ketchup on a already made burger) and a medium fry, they gave me the equivelent of a small fry and the mcdouble was noticeably smaller than i had last, the bag was wrapped around it a couple times and since the bag wasnt designed for such a small burger it was sloppily held together XD. not going back anymore after that, no matter how convienent or hungry i am.
Most places that used to be somewhat of a deal, have now gone completely off the rails, and anyone paying attention sees it for what it is, GREED! I get it, the pandemic happened and many things changed, anyone who understands basic economics knows cost went up. But now most fast food places cost as much as many sit down restaurants which is F' ing ridiculous, $10+ to feed one person, when food is cold, orders are wrong, etc. I accepted things like that when my family of 4 could eat for $20, now our family of 3 is easily well over $30, and the poor quality and service no longer gets a pass.
An observation: McDonald's and Burger King fries blow lately in Norfolk, VA. This makes me a sad panda because I feel weird for not ordering fries from a fast food place with my sandwich and drink. BK at least has onion rings to fill that hole. McD's has nothing. Also, I like Domino's. But the loaded tots are a bit of a scam. They should offer unloaded tots for 2 bucks less. Combining the previous topics, they should offer tots, hash browns, whatever all day. Another selection with very little extra, if any extra, overhead. They already carry them for breakfast, why not add to your sides arsenal?
It doesn't keep the stockholders from getting rich so does it! Paying a livable wage should not be passed on to the customers. It should be passed on to the stockholders who are still getting very very rich on shrinkflation.
Shrinkflation is because "some" in the USA government realized fastfood was killing people. That's why it's getting smaller to match others counties that realized the problem before hand
I know it sucks that fast food has become so unaffordable but instead of spending $10/$15 on a meal from fast food places you could use that money to buy healthier food form a grocery store, or if it's like over $20 why not use that money and go to a diner/restaurant and have table service for the same price.
Eating out should be an occasional thing, not every day and multiple times on a regular basis smh. And yeah I would expect changes in increase over the course of a decade and to match the increase in human population duh.

I run an online bakery and although I _have_ raised my prices over the years, I have never decreased the portion sizes.
