I think this is just one of Queen's songs that has aged really well. It never really sounds dated. It is song that always leaves you with a good feeling.
**Zenobia** I agree I think this song is ahead of there time and a lot of other queen songs.I think compared to other songs from that time it songs really different and I think it was ahead of its time.It has aged really well
This is the wonderfully talented Freddie. He is a master of song writing. He can out sing all most everyone and he could out preforme anyone. Love and miss him.
James Aceton oh yeah!! Even John Deacon got brave enough to start singing with them about the time he had been with the band about five or six years. He could just be in his own groove on that bass. Another one bites the dust and that bass line he did was awesome!!
This song!!! I love it!!! Instant happiness!!! Seriously I could be in the worst mood ever, if this song comes on, my mood instantly goes into happy mode.
Only on Bohemian Rhapsody did Freddie saying all the harmonies during the beginning of the song. Are the members of the group sang but John Deacon like to stay in the background. If you don't already know it Brian May was an astrophysicist and worked for NASA, John was an electrical engineer and created an amp to call the Deaky still used today, Roger Was studying to be a dentist but ended up in biology. Freddie had degrees in art and design and created the emblem for Queen which represents each of the members astrological signs. All geniuses, all of them wrote no. 1 singles. Do listen to them live in Montreal Somebody to Love. It will blow you away!
First of your videos I see, and I can already tell you’re musically inclined and can appreciate good stuff. This song is one of the all time best feel good songs. Ever, and even into the future. Sounds like some manic rock gospel. ❤️
It's funny. I grew up on this music and I always loved it, but I never truly appreciated Queen's genius until hearing it through other people's ears! Being brought up in Britain I was truly spoiled. The best musicians in the world.
In songs like this and Somebody To Love they usually all sing. The REALLY high notes, like the one “for me” in Bohemian Rhapsody is the drummer Roger Taylor. The beginning of Bohemian Rhapsody is all Freddie.
Scientists confirmed-this is the most positive song in the world...most up lifting...you can' t feel depressed after listen to this masterpiece....long live the Queen...long live our King Mercury-lover of life, singer of songs..
Of course there's a guitar solo. The only one who ever dared to tell Brian "no guitar solo for this song" was Deaky. Picture in your mind the subsequent fight (spoiler warning: Deaky won) :P
No. Brian and Roger did a helluva lot of harmonies, in studio and live (Roger, especially for the live concerts). Freddie was amazing, but the three of them singing were what made Queen vocals sound like Queen.
@@Henso618 The music back then was awesome. I don't think we appreciated it in a conscientious way, but as we get older, it's easy to see the complexity and talent we were privileged to enjoy. Loved those days driving to the beach with friends ;-)
Judy Flanigan what do you mean? I’m 15 and this song has been stuck in my head for the past 3 weeks! Been a huge queen fan from such a young age, started listening to rock at 4 and just fell in love. Honestly, these days you have mumble rap which makes no sense and literally sounds dead!
Red falcon gaming Yep, nothing in the music world these days even comes close. (I’m wayyyy older than you, and a long time fan. 😉) I know it’s going to be a great day when I wake up singing a Queen song. 🙂🙃
Judy Flanigan Yup! Literally me everyday! It’s sad because I’m one of the few kids from the 1999-2003 that actually know of great bands like these. Just yesterday I found out that some of my friends don’t even know who queen was. I had to show them a song from them like we are the champions and they said they thought it came from a modern day rapper. Like it was disgusting!
He...... ? They please. I love Freddie with all my heart but to quote Freddie “ I’m not the band leader, I’m the lead vocalist. We are 4 equal members “
Big fan of queen and enjoyed your reaction. I always like to hear the studio version first as well. Some live songs/performances are definitely better than the studio version, but for me it's partly because I know the written version already and see how a great artist plays with it.
On a lot of their songs the harmonizing parts are with the other band members, so Brian (the guitarist that you like) and Roger (the drummer) do a lot of the harmonizing with Freddie
When it comes to Queen, I think people should listen to studio and live versions. And when it comes to '39, I recommend studio, live with Freddie, and then live with Brian.
You should check out Queen performing White Queen live at Hammersmith 1975. It's a beautiful prog rock song, written by Brian, with the most amazing piano/guitar interlude from Freddie and Brian that's just magical to listen to. Trust me, your ears will thank you for it. Also, I think in this case you will be forgiven for checking it out live as this is the best version of White Queen imo. You should also check out Death On Two Legs, it's a wonderfully heartfelt 'lovenote' from Freddie to their former manager Norman Sheffield after they found out he was ripping them off. Let's just say I don't think he was on their Christmas Card list any more lol. For this one I do recommend the studio version as I don't think the venom in Freddie's voice comes through as well in the live versions I've heard of it.
Great reaction. Yeah, a lot of Queen's songs have that feel good effect on people and the members aren't just legends, but revered as rock and roll royalty/Gods. Guitarist Brian May in case your wondering, uses a sixpence piece (English coin) as a guitar pick, it helps contribute to its sound and regular picks were then and still are too flexible/flimsy. The coin, his naturally curly hair and his red special guitar (which he and his father actually made together out of odds and ends from their house and garage) are his trademarks.
Actually I heard an interview where they said that performance was not live in front of an audience. It was set up on a stage, lit, filmed in a building as if it was live. They taped black cloth on the walls. They always considered themselves more a live band rather than recording artists and wanted the video presented that manner. But it sure feels like it is live in front people bcz they always gave it it 100%.
All of them sing the harmony parts. John sings a little bit but he’s really good on the base but the other two and Freddie sing all the time. The drummer, Roger Taylor, is absolutely incredible and has this dog whistle HIIGH pitch falsetto. Roger was the one that hit that Galileo Galilei oh in the Bohemian Rhapsody song. You need to see queen live in Montreal somebody to love and you will hear them sing harmony together. This band is one of the best ever!! Geniuses and all four wrote number one songs and were inducted into the water,s Music Hall of Fame
All 4 of them composed their hits. The other 3 did sing . They say the drummer Roger Taylor could have been a lead singer. The guitarist, Brian May was just named best guitarist ever by some guitar magazine.
Freddy has a 4 octave range. Most guys when they get to the height of their range they switch to falsetto. But Freddy could go on up either way his range or falsetto so he tricks the ear. His falsetto is so good in bohemian that I don’t know what he’s doing. When he sing the word “ecstasy” he makes his voice sound like the word. Twice in this video once on the word explode the producer of the video makes the lights on the stage flash big bright. Queens and freddys touch to the details make the song. They’ve been doing this since 1970 and all the genres and especially boy bands and the group Pentatonic copy them. The simple piano riffs that Freddy does have been copied by both r& b and gospel. You know it because of of them being around since 1970. The other genres weren’t doing these things till the 80’s. Killer queen was putting voice with guitar in a guitar amp for one sound. The put voices through a Hammond organ with other trebello turned on. And Deacon had a bachelor degree in electronics he had to be using, building some of the amps and equipment they were putting instruments thru. On the rock section of bohemian where Brian did up and down the scale he used 4 different guitars. His “red” made by him and his father at that time had what looked like decorations were buttons with phazors that he and his father made. Another one bites the dust has no piano and only three instruments. The alen sounds are Brian’s guitar. H

It's 17 minutes long and at one Jr. High dance the challenge was to dance to the entire song. Check out some Janis Joplin - very different. Then there was "They're Coming to Take Me Away" that was banned because it was dissing mental illness...ohhh, then there was Woodstock....we were definitely "Having a Good Time!" Edit to throw in Jimi Hendrix who used to do stuff like break his guitar or light it on fire on stage.
