The footage looks like a gopro of about 6 years ago, and is over sharpened (nothing new there) but I love the potential of the magnetic mount, remote control, and the mechanical stabilisation. Hopefully they put a 1/1.2 or 1/1.7 sensor in the next version, and I think I won't be able to stop myself from buying one.
I disagree about your timeline of comparison to GPs. I think the shown footage is on par with my GP 8, circa 2019. Maybe a little better. Agree with the rest of what you said.

Regarding the material, due to its WiFi antennae, it's not suitable for metal; about the built-in radio, except for the professional voice cavity structure, we made the noise reduction on the software, which can meet daily use requirements. When we connect the cam and handle, let's install it slowly through the dovetail slot. For the object tracking function, we suggest users try out the APP tracking, the effects would be better. Our Pocket 3 adopts CMOS of SONY IMX577 with an F2.0 aperture lens that satisfies daily shooting. I have the v2 and am super happy with it. What I wish it had was built in levels for recording audio. Or, at least a way to monitor levels during recording.
Alot of portable cameras wont have that. I have the wireless rhode, so I would prolly use that since it has viewable levels and a jack for headphone monitor

Many times I am not sure if you are shooting with the Fei Yu or your Sony alpha with all the cuts. I It would be helpful to see more shots inside with room lighting or using a small led flat panel light
This really reminds me of the DJI Pocket 2, but with the DJI if you add a few accessories, you can get wireless lav audio and more. I own a REMOVU gimbal that I use with my GoPro and the gimbal part of that can be removed from the control handle. Then, the handle can control the head from a pretty good distance. It works great but is a little larger than this, when all put together.
Can this camera record in vertical mode? I’d like to use it for reels, TikTok etc and some craft overhead shots (the detachable feature might be useful for this purpose) So I’m wondering if I can record vertical/portrait mode without rotating the handle (like the Osmo Pocket 3) 😅
Does it chapter video clips or is it one long clip when you record for a long time? Does it overheat when you record with it for a long time? I need to watch my fishing rods for hours...
the section of the bike pass by it look like 10fps and the resolution looked upscaled? in the sample videos there is allot of jpg distortion more fluid frame rate (part of the picture is blurry)
I accidentally dropped my Pocket 2 on hard floor. Now the gimbal vibrates when I shoot at certain angles. When you play a recorded video, there is a noticeable shaking (although it's smoothed out by the stabilization feature), so the video kinda looks like it's undulating, like waves. :(
Does it have a full lock pan and tilt mode?. Dji pocket does not. ( For Dji pocket u have to keep "pressing" the button to maintain the full lock mode which is a stupid design)
I wanna ask you something maybe out of topic but do you know any action camera beside insta 360 that can use invisible stick ? I mean we are in 2023 photos with visible selfie stick is so tacky
Innovative form factor, let down by audio - and you can't plug in a mic. Something like this was the subject of a recent DJI patent, apparently for their Pocket 3. But Feiyu got there first. However, the chances of the DJI version having poor audio, non-focussing lens, small aperture, small sensor, etc etc, is minimal. But it will be more expensive - perhaps radically more expensive if DJI takes this down the semi-pro route, which is possible. The DJI version is said to be due in April, so maybe wait for that and then decide on price/performance.
I might not upgrade even to the DJI Pocket 3, it all depends on what you get. I'm in the market for a 1-inch Pocket that can shoot 4K 60p 10-bit 4:2:2. There are already quite a few phones that shoot 10-bit LOG and soon there will be a few that have 1-inch cameras. So the tech is here or almost here and I for one am willing to wait for it.
Especially in low light, a mechanical gimbal is a great alternative to electronic image stabilization. But on the other hand, you don’t have the same level of ruggedness as a classic action cam.
Having received my kickstarter one, the remote handle should’ve been included from the start. I haven’t been able to connect to my iPhone. The documentation and other how-to information is severely lacking.
I have used Feiyu gimbal for Sony rx0 and dji pocket2. Seems like no better image quality than phone camera or action camera. But I love the concept. I hope they launch pro version of it
I made the same mistake, then I wondered what the difference was and read what you get more carefully. You can edit what you ordered, so I changed to the bundle with the remote. For me it's worth it for the extended battery time. I think it will also be easier to use than the camera fastened to a phone.
There is a very noticable “Stuttering” at 2:28 on the cyclist crossing the road possibly because of high shutter speed. Investing in a set of new ND filters compatible with this camera (if possible and available) will be an added cost

Its a different animal. Way more simple to use because you get MP4 files straight out of camera and you dont have to edit them for framing.

It seemed a bit choppy. (I'm not sure if it was the encoding on my end or on the cameras end but I could definitely notice it. )

In pan mode, errors continue to accumulate. Therefore, I went for after-sales service, but the issue was not resolved.

Not great, and no, not at the moment. Unless there is a USBC-audio adapter, but there is nothing in the works as far as I can tell.
What about the audio? There is nothing on the Kickstarter page either. Why do all the test videos have weird music and no camera audio?
Its not great, as is the case with most small cameras. The clip at the end demonstrates audio.
