    6 year old video still going strong. Very helpful to me, I just took out my RX8 radio head, though as others say, I couldn't remove it. I also couldn't wiggle out the radio, I had to put a blade behind the facia at the top to pop off the dash. Then it came out. I managed to remove the lower cable by sticking a screwdriver underneath the connector which let me pull the head out another 4 inches and pop off the blanking plate (where the tape deck would be) which was enough to install the AudioMod so now I've got Aux-In.
    A really good video, thanks Eugene and your leggy assistant!

    thanks dude. this video showed me what the pic tutorials couldnt as far as getting that screw out.
    to those that cant find it-- lie down on ur back on the floor, head in the corner against the gas pedal. then raise your head as FAR as you can into the corner, looking left. you will BARELY see it. dim lighting wont do you any good either.
    it is its located to the lower right of that white circular hub, directly BEHIND the bar that contains the two nuts close together

    Just wanted to say, for anyone who's radio lights up but won't respond and has a blank display after doing this, you have put the faceplate back on the radio very carefully if you take it off. It has to go on just right so that it doesn't wiggle at all, or else all the connections won't be made. I had to push it carefully on applying even pressure to both sides to make it work again.

      Fyi, you're my hero! I just bought my RX8 a short time ago and the radio was doing that so I had no heat. I messed around with that stupid thing for months and then read your comment, pushed in on the faceplate and now it works. Unbelievable.

      @@harrod19 That's awesome, I'm glad you were able to fix it. I believe I also suffered through it for months before I realized what the problem was. At least it's nice when it's something easy and cheap. It's a really cool car, except for the flooding issue if you turn it off before it's warmed up, hopefully you know about that by now

    • @harrod19
      @harrod19 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CodyHammons "fixed it", every bump and it flickers but if push in on the bottom and hold I can make adjustments lol. Probably have to take it apart and get everything tight right. Only issues I've had with mine is it can't hold coolant when under heavy load (it's turbo charged). Need to get that looked into but who has time, maybe next year haha

    • @CodyHammons
      @CodyHammons 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@harrod19 if I remember right, there was a set of brackets or something that you have to bend back just slightly so the pins will make good contact with the faceplate? It's been a long time though. Good luck man, I'm sure you'll get it

    ok nvm i fixed it. it was those connectors to the front panal. i had to remove the cd player panal metal thing with the black stripe. i didnt put it in right and it was making the board crooked so it wouldnt fit in flush. took it out and it solved my problem. WOOT!

    Where is the end of the video? How do you get the radio out? There are a number of cables harness running into the back and i can't back there to re;ease the clip to pull the radio unit

    Thanks for the help.. Got a RX8 yesterday and the only issue with the car is that there's a cd stuck in the changer and it's jammed :(
    Might not be able to unjam it myself but at least I can get the unit out easy enough to be looked at :)

    This is my issue- Inwas driving back home and my radio screen just went out, I tapped on the dash board to see if it would come back it didn't. So I waited until I got home and I checked all the fuses and their good I even had spare ones. So there is completely nothing on the screen. It's blank. I need help, I would appreciate it very much if you could help me go through it.

    Stock CD player is terrible on the 04's... I go over railroad tracks, the CD skips. I go over a pothole, the CD skips. If I so much as THINK about it the player will skip, and sometimes it just decides to not play at all.

      Instead of blaming someone for their recording skills, perhaps you should brush up on your observation skills. Sure, this is a how-to video, but you can't solely rely on this information. You have to be able to think for yourself as well.
