      Buy a french press and a grinder, both cheap and yes, it’s not only much cheaper but just as good if not better depending on the coffee beans your get

    When I worked there over 10 years ago, it was a job for part time students, people who had another job, or just used the job as a temporary income.
    We were grateful for what we got and if it wasn’t enough money we looked for another job or doubled up on jobs.
    We didn’t expect it to be a living wage, unless you were a store manager or district manager.

      Or the CEO could not take so much personal profit. Prices don’t need to go up if wages rise. That’s what the billionaires are trying to trick us into believing, but it does NOT need to be that way. They need to take a pay cut.

    Well, the last time I was at Starbucks, the barista stuck his gloved finger into his nostril and then continued working on preparing the order he was working on. Then I saw him use his gloved hand to touch his hair, and left without ordering. I will not return to Starbucks.

      @@deadfairfield After cooking professionally at a upper end restaurant with high standards, I'm well aware of what it takes to comply with the local health department. I know precisely what to look out for and always call them out if I witness anything. Within 5 minutes you can scope out a coffee shop or restaurant for unsanitary conditions.

    64% pay raise. These liberals are asking too much to make coffee.
    If I get a 64% raise my annual pay as a Clinical Engineer will be a $133k/yr. That is not including my On-Call schedule and Time and a half when I have to clock in for an emergency.
    Making coffee is no emergency.

    Most of these people have never been in a union. Unions suck. I was with the IAM union for 2 years. No one talks about the seniority system. You don’t get any holidays off till you are 60 plus. Your pay is the same as your coworker regardless of skills. You pay the same union dues and insurance no matter how much you make. It should be pro rated. When I was in the union I got to pick vacation days in Jan and Feb. That’s it. All of the old farts worked 6 days a week and took all of the overtime. I was eating ramen while they had new 5th wheels and Harley bikes.

    Wouldn’t wanna miss this Christmas tips would they. On one hand it’s the right time to strike and on the other hand it’s the wrong time. It was the wrong time. Don’t make this your life’s work, educate yourself or learn another trade that makes you more money than making coffee all day.

    They can strike. There are other shops. Lost revenue = store will close.
    Don't make a career out of unskilled labor. I worked 8-5 then studied till 10pm every day so I can go back to a professional school.

    To be honest I’ve seen an Amazon factory and it’s the most depressing work site I’ve ever seen. They literally reply the same video on stacking boxes over and over again which goes for 5 minutes don’t supply proper work uniforms and treat workers like robots.

    Their coffee has become so overpriced. This week I bought my wife the last $7 latte I will ever purchase. And then we have the pre-programmed kiosks that suggest a generous tip. Starbucks, you need to get your "you know what together". After 30 years of buying your coffee, I'll make my own at home or find a different source.
