Funny story. I live nearby, one day I was driving along in March, two years ago and I could tell from the road it was a special place. I am not shy, so I parked on the side of the road and walked in bold as brass. I always say, "Sorry ta bug ya" first thing as my calling card. ( Try it out some time, free of charge on me) People can only tell me to scram or be friendly, so what have I got to lose? Dale was walking his dog and showed me around. At one point, I said, "You know an awful lot about gardening." He said, I am Dale Deppe, I own Spring Meadow Nursery". I felt like such a dumbbell ! Dale was so nice. I prize that chance meeting ( take a chance, don't be shy) and now avidly learn about Proven Winners. Thanks for this segment.🙂🙂💯💚

I loved this walkthrough with the music. It would be fun when you do the other garden tours (which I love by the way) if you ended the talk through of the garden with some quiet, music walk through at the end. It’s so peaceful.

Spring Meadow display gardens are so very beautiful that mere words feel totally inadequate. I lived about an hour from Spring Meadow in western Michigan. The area is a wonderful place to garden. Although winters are cold, plants like panicle hydrangeas perform better there than they do in my southeastern NC, zone 8a garden. I've learned a lot about the term "full sun" since having my backyard trees destroyed by a tornado. My full sun here is not like full sun in western Michigan in the summer.
I am glad you have shared your trip with us here on TH-cam. Summer in Michigan is beautiful, and a wonderful time of year to be in the garden. As travel ads say, "Summer [here] is pure Michigan. Disclaimer: I do not miss snow, even with temps in the 90's and humidity of 82%.
Can you imagine waking up and walking with your morning coffee in that garden?! Lord... how beautiful.

Thanks for sharing. Wish it was closer to Missouri where you could visit if they open to public once in a while. Very beautiful. Cool temperatures at night really help them to look beautiful longer than it does here.

Hi Janey! I also love the Seven Son Flower Tree/ Temple of Bloom tree. I live in CA, zone 9 like you, I have had my Temple of Bloom for two years in a pot. I highly recommend treating it like a dappled shade only plant in CA. Mine burned when it had four hours of direct sun (10-2pm) and full shade for the rest of the day. It recovered but I'm treating it like I would a delicate Japanese maple.❤. Thanks for the tours these are awesome.

So exciting you visited Michigan! I live just south of Zeeland and get the opportunity to drive by Walters Gardens everyday on my way to work, and frequently visit Garden Crossings to buy plants. I have never bought PW hydrangeas before, but I cannot get my old macrophylla hydrangea to bloom, guess it’s time to buy some!!!😂
