To anyone who thinks this is supposed to be a slick, produced, repaired, auto-tuned, quantized, perfected version of a song in a controlled musical environment: This is just us playing live, not knowing how many seconds were left at any given section of the song. We were not being featured, nor were we being listened to and enjoyed by an enthusiastic music audience. Instead, it was us winging it, in a roomful of people and distractions of a TV show being taped all around us. We were doing the best we could and had no idea we were being taped or would ever be listened to (except for the first and last few notes). Apologies to all haters for the imperfections. Welcome to honest music making.....
Will Lee dude, are you kidding? this is superiorly awesome and anyone should know it. the only bad thing about watching the late show over all these years on television is missing things like this that were only seen live and not broadcasted on the show. Will.... LOVE listening to you play, man.
Living Legends in their own lifetime! The Great Paul Shaffer and the CBS Orchestra (a.k.a.: "World's Most Dangerous Band") were secondary only to Doc Severinsen and the NBC Orchestra! I miss all of you and hope that all is well. Thanks for sharing.
I visit this video every few months. So good. Felicia is on fire here of course, but I also get much joy from watching Paul lead the band and just look like he is having so much fun all the while being a keyboard virtuoso.
I remember watching Letterman over the years and wanting more than anything to just hear the band jamming through the commercials. It was like 30 years of getting teased with 5 seconds of greatness after a commercial break, then it was over. Cool to see this!!
Will, no apologies are necessary.Anyone who bitches or hates here has no appreciation for good music ... or the musicianship to get here. I've often decried the fact that the TV audience only ever got a very small taste of what this band could do. Get into a studio and crank out some arrangements, head or chart, before you guys go your separate ways ... because it's usually next to impossible to bring back the energy. Well done.
Well, I am trying to do some delving into some of the television house bands on late night television. There was the greatest one - Doc Severinsen and the Tonight Show Band. And of course, Jay Leno's band with Marvin "Smitty" Smith giving us some great drumming fireworks. Arsenio Hall had his house band which was called "The Posse", with Starr Parodi doing keyboards and even some singing. And then, this band, which was formerly called "The World's Most Dangerous Band"--now the CBS Orchestra, on the David Letterman late night show. I had seen all of these TV house bands and they are all good. I also realize that Anton Fig's funky drums and Paul Schaffer's jazz organ licks reminding you of greats like Jimmy McGriff or Lonnie Smith works wonders in that 'Only So Much Oil" song. And Tom "Bones" Malone - was that the sax player who played sax for the 1980's flick, "The Blues Brothers?"
@@feliciacollins4716 OMG you replied! I miss seeing you play and everything with the band and Letterman of course. I hope you're doing great. You're forever fantastic. Much love.
I was just watching this and thinking, "I know there were long commercial breaks back in the day on Letterman"... It's a great and fun performance. Great solos by the group, and you were definitely an indispensable part of the CBS Orchestra. Felicia, thank you for posting this!
This is truly awesome music. Hopefully we'll eventually see more of their performances during the commercial breaks of the Late Show with David Letterman.
@@feliciacollins4716 How cool to get a reply from you and the revisit this incredible performance again. Thanks! And you are a monster. Just crushing. I love this so much.
Although this is generally good, and I would also like to see these released somehow, I sure hope the mix was recorded multi-track, because the mix isnt.

Splendid Collins. Couldn't say it better. Wonderful. Doesn't get old. Just hot.
Excellent - those thumbs down obviously have never listened to nor played in a liveband!

Man, this is just plain good! Letterman should release a bunch of these songs played during the breaks on DVD. What fun!
One of Doc and Mimi’s greatest hits and the band’s performance is 🔥🔥🔥
I love Felicia’s voice! She jams on the guitar too!!

For beeing "winging it in" this is darn good! Even tensax and organ solos carries lots of influences from the originals. Like it, great work! 😎

Nice job, Felicia!

This presentation was absolutely outstanding. I must admit I pay more attention to the instrumentation that the singer itself. Great performance.

You can NOT go wrong borrowing from Tower of Power. Good choice and nice performance.
They sound great!
LOL!- This break lasted about 11 minutes. By the 7th time around, I just started changing the lyric every time. What can I say? We have fun.

DEAR GOD NEED MORE BARI IN THE MIX ::DROOL::
That French horn player has a wild suit on
Felicia, you are ruling! The band sounds amazeballs. And I love Sid's guitar sound. Anyone know what amp that is?
It’s an amp that he built. He calls it the SIDTONE!

poor communication at 3:01 on who/when was taking the next solo.
this is not from 2013, this is from early 2012
Dave must have liked this one!
Felicia voice is so hot
Tres bon niveau! Mais rien a voir avec la peche de Tower of Power!!!
DRAGON BALL Z BUDOKAI 2 :D
Another drummer that doesn’t come close to the playing of Dave Garibaldi
Compare this noise and claptrap with a performance by the Tonight Show Band with Doc Severensen. What a crime.
Apples and Oranges. Like comparing a Van Gogh to a Picasso.....both great but very different.
They sound great!
