- Torx T27 inside the van.
Torx T30 upper rooftop cowl.
Torx T25 lower rooftop cowl.
Cross member has 4- 13mm bolts, and requires a T30 and a 10mm socket to remove condenser support bolt.
I replaced the T30 bolts which were 6.0 mm x 1.0 pitch and were 12mm long with stainless steel bolts that were 16 mm long and had a 10 mm head. I also added a stainless steel, larger fender washer....
I used GE silicone 100% 2+, in a standard tube. Recommend smaller tube for getting it into the tight bits.
thanks charlie god bless you
Great job John! Due to your video, ill be able to fix mine, maybe even this weekend!
A rival to my video! Lol
Nicely done.
Thank you! Your video was a lot of help
This is very helpful!
Thanks for sharing!! Did you have to evacuate the refrigerant? Now after watching I have more confidence to fix my leak👍👍👍🤙🏾🤙🏾
Wondering the same thing
No, you can leave that in tact.
Several forums discuss the difficulty of repairing this leak. The mechanical steps are simple enough, the real challenge is creating a lasting seal. Has the silicone continued to work for you? Any updates after several months of use?
I’m wondering the same thing. I am going to be using a product I have use for many other things. I think is really spectacular. It is made by ChemLink and it is called “M-1 Universal adhesive & sealant.” I will be very surprised if it ever leaks, but if it does, I will certainly post an update… The only problem is that I doubt that I will be able to lift this plastic piece once it dries.
My alternative idea is to use Dicor self-leveling lap sealant. It is used for trailer roofs. It never hardens, and it would be easy to remove later, I just don’t know how permanent the seal would be…
@@kienanmaxfield6288 No problem since, not one leak and it’s 2022….
Bead has lasted beautifully, so 3-4 years…
Thank you!!!!!!!!!!
thank you . just did mine
Thanks! How did you know it was leaking? Where did you notice the water?
Great video. I was wondering, do you know the dimension of the hole? I was wondering if I could remove the AC unit and fit a Maxxair fan in there...
No the hole is too big Maxx air fans are 14x14
Thanks!
What year is this van?
Is it necessary to empty the refrigerant?
No
Did Mercedes Benz fix this problem on 2016 models or should I start putting some silicone beads on mine before it starts leaking?
My 2016 is leaking and the dealer wants $1600 to reseal it. I had a 2011 with the same problem and it took a class action lawsuit to get their attention and have them fix their know issue. Very disappointed the leaks continue.
@@tylerdallas8927 Any luck with the law suit? My 2017 leaks. Dealership have tried fixing this twice and the problem remains.
My 2018 is leaking. Does anyone know if what years the recall include??
'14 is leaking.
