Hey there Doug Parker! That is a bit scary about the balcony partition! Of my 5 cruises, only one, my very first, was a balcony. I only enjoyed experiencing the balcony in port…lol. Something like this totally adds to my anxiety around the balcony. Crazy, but I love being on any level of the cruise decks over looking the ocean, especially the aft wake views. But it freaks me out to be on the cabin balcony with the ship moving. Ok… digressing with all my TMI…lol. 25 new ships, that’s cool… i think! 26 Billion! With a B!!!! Crazy! And 2030 is just around the calendar corner. Makes me wonder what older ships will be scrapped to make room for the lovely new floating cities. Love that Carnival is steadily expanding across the globe. Thanks for the cruise news AND not having a limit on how much i can key into your comments…lol. Peace and blessings dear Doug! ✌🏾🛳️😊
Good morning, Doug! Talk about a lucky "break" for the passengers who had that Balcony cabin not being ON the balcony when the partition failed! Someone could have gotten seriously hurt! Hopefully the crew went and inspected every partition for balconies! I am excited about the MSC World America! Maybe 2026 will be the year I get to cruise on that ship!

Similar thing happened to me on the Breeze in April. The staff cleaned the balconies that morning, and apparently didn't lock the partition back in place properly. I was out in port for a while, but whenever I was in my cabin I kept hearing a loud banging noise every few minutes. I assumed it was a neighbor letting their cabin door slam shut and was thinking "How rude to continually slam cabin doors like that. I eventually went out on the balcony when the other ship started to back out of port. As I was leaning on my railing and waving, my lounger chair suddenly jumped with another loud BANG. The partition was swaying back and forth in the wind like old saloon doors. It would hit my wall and then it would eventually go the other way and crash into my neighbors wall. I already had an extra large balcony near the end of the ship and I briefly also had access to my neighbors HUGE wrap around balcony to boot.

😂 That's all the cruise lines, not just Carnival, and they're all showing record profits. The demand for cruising is so high they can't build them fast enough to meet demand. They have to put profits into new builds. As it is, because of Supply and Demand, cruise rates have gone through the roof. I did 4 cruises this year. 2025, 26 and 27 I only have ONE booked each year. The prices have more than doubled and you have to book them way in advance before they sell out. 😮
@@kennywalker4091didn’t RCL announce the restart of dividend payments? With shareholder credits and dividends it would make it worthwhile hanging onto the stocks. Nice to see the values up, I was in the hole for so long.
@@TripReviewsRoyal Caribbean paid a dividend on October 11, 2024 for the first time since 2020. I'm not sure Carnival will be able to follow suit for a few years, but at the rate they are paying debt off early, they may restart dividends in the next few years. Carnival is in somewhat of a pickle with dividends because there are so many shares outstanding, even a $0.10 dividend would cost them over $100 million.

I just returned from a transpacific cruise Vancouver to Tokyo . The first cruise where we did not dock in one single scheduled port. Every single port was cancelled due to weather. We ended up with 10 sea days in a row and for several days all outdoor areas were closed to everyone. My statement was so long with excursion refunds day after day. HAL Noordam.

Mornin' Doug! I sure hope those new ships aren't all "mega-ships". In my opinion (which I know counts for nothing) the industry would be better a for number of "smaller" ships - 3000 passengers or so - that can get into smaller ports and not be as overwhelming to larger ones.

Hold on, time out!!!! With all of the current and new cruise ships projected to be operating in the next four or five years I think its time to repeal or rewrite the Jones Act so that cruise ships departing from US ports can sail wherever they want without having to stop at a foreign port. They could then do "cruises to nowhere". Right now ports like Nassau, Cozumel, Grand Cayman, St Thomas and a few others are overwhelmed with four, five or six cruise ships some days. That about 10K people dropped at aport in one day. Cruise lines adding more ships will only make the situations much worse. IJS
Where are cruise lines getting these mega bucks from?...i know, they don't have to be concerned about worker payroll as an operating expense...long hours, low wages, subsidized by their guests daily auto gratuities 😠
Employees on ships are almost all from real poor countries and they sign up for a contract to work for a certain number of months.. They are not necessarily employees of the cruise line because they are under contract. The gratuities are getting out of hand, but what isn't??

My first cruise was on the Carnival Sunshine when it was previously named Carnival Destiny before it was refurbished. That ship was built in 1995.
Crazy to think it was the largest cruise ship in the world at one time.

Was just on the Sunshine. This is no big news . Not like it caught fire or anything . Slow news day I guess.
Now you know what I deal with on a daily basis. Reporting on Carnival’s ships screwing up or breaking down.
