This is really sweet. Working at a rescue with horses and ponies has truly been rewarding when they, finally, nicker and give sweet eyes when you walk up. Just nothing quite like connection with an equine.
I volunteer at a rescue, and your videos will be super helpful for learning how to best help the fearful ponies become more comfortable, with the aim of getting them adopted into great forever homes! Thank you for sharing your knowledge! ❤
Thank you for this! I realized after watching that I am doing a lot of things right with my mini and he has come so far! I decided off the bat that I’d treat him like any 16 hand horse, and not a stuffy that would want to snuggle. Also I did the hangout while he ate for a long time. His actual favorite thing is hanging out! He is still not that happy about being groomed so I went to scratching him in all the right itchy spots so to get him used to bands being good touch. I like the idea of letting him decide when he wants to engage though.
I did the same thing with my traumatized mare. She s an import, and the former owners only had here for a couple of months, before selling her. When i came to see her, she was in a freeze state. When trying to lift her front hoofs, they told me, that the only way, was to bend her knee, and force her. All she actually needed was a few weeks to settle, also get enought comfortable with me, and she give me her hoof herself, like it was nothing, the first time i tried 😊
Thank you! Even though i been around horses for 50 years, i think its common sense, combined with some experience. The former owners first priority was to make some quick money, on this unexperienced broadmare, by making her a riding horse. Witch could have ended up really bad, for bouth the horse, and the new owner. Sorry if my English is not the best😊 @@dianeboross6978
Oh yes your little buddy. You are a friend that is warm and gentle and doesn’t make him work or harm him. Probably never had the choice of being touched or groped or pulled and pushed around or not. That is huge for an animal and for people. Let them go at their speed, make it their choice, give them space to let their mind work.
Thank you so much! I work with a mini. She is so feisty and so clever and sometimes she is a cuddlebug. It took a long time for her to trust me but now we are a good team! He is lovely! And you are so right about this! What I found our mini does not like to be touched from above. And I get it as everyone is bigger and stronger and overwhelms her. But if you get down to her level she will even groom you back!
Well done, Sir. Well done. These canny little Pleistocene minds can be a challenge. They are herd animals: "Make the right thing easy." Please keep us updated.
Agree, I have three of them with my Clydesdales and standardbreds. I just hang with them and they are all over me (I have had them for 8 or 9 years) . They are cunning though, they have the big horses all sorted ! Thanks for sharing.
His little expressions are so easy to read bless him he wears his heart on his sleeve ^o^ Reminds me of my boy who sadly passed around this time of year just a couple years ago. He was an affectionate guy who just needed people to be kind and he'd love you to bits
Thank you. These seem so simple but I’m sure I’ve gotten that wrong before, misread my horse. Especially when I have a yearling stud colt , they are so mouthy. I’m going to try this.
Thanks for this! Always enjoy your videos!! I do have a question, would Mingo have reacted the same way or created a connection with you if there was another horse in there? I am trying to work with a horse that acts the same way (skittish towards humans) and I have been trying some of your techniques but find it hard with the two other horses that are with her in the pasture. Any thoughts?
Also dieses Pony weder "mini", noch auf irgendeine Art "schreckhaft", ein ganz normales Pony eben. Was ist jetzt hier an dem Video besonderes??? 🤔 Vielleicht klärt mich ja jemand auf?!

The mental state of a horse is so important. Sounds like you did your homework. Bravo!

So nice to see you on the tube. Happy new year to you and your family.
Absolutely lovely!

Love this. Thank you
Small dogs get overhandled, too, similarly.

Would you do a video showing how to bring a new horse home to a totally new environment in the least stressful manner. Thank you!
Lovely!
Can I ask please, what is in the water? Oxygen weed? Thanks!
Thanks for this! Always enjoy your videos!!

Einzelarbeit natürlich 😂
Dogs horses people give them space and let them approach on their own time line and don't act fearful of them
👍
You have won him over. 👍🩷
Is Mingo on his own?😢
01:20 you can see a horse behind him.
Just wanted to say Happy New Year and still owe you a beer or fried dough next time you are back east 🙂
Please.............. some fresh and clean water.......................

Das Pony war eben anfangs nicht "normal"; Warwick Schiller erklärt ganz deutlich in seinem Video wieso es inzwischen einfach ruhig reagiert. @buddy...
As youre posting this as a "mini pony", what makes you think you have the credibility to be giving advice on how to work with it?
A horse is a horse, I have a little bit of credibility understanding horses. What exactly is he then?
janeraymond What is your channel’s name?
Janeraymond5214 I find your post offensive as Mr Schiller correctly says, a horse is a horse
I’d be fucking scared of people too! People ARE evil
