- In this episode I am crossing the border between Botswana and Zimbabwe. I stay the night at Victoria Falls and go and check out these amazing waterfalls. They are a lot more impressive than I expected, and I came a little closer to a family of warthog than I would have liked...

After 25 years living in Zambia, I still think that Zimbabwe has the best view of the falls. You will love it here, the people are the best, and the bush is so pure, enjoy it while you can.
Like Zim's president says... VF is a beautiful woman... Zambia sees her from the back and Zim from the front...

I'm Zimbabwean and saw the falls from the Zambian side on my 4th visit and it felt like I was seeing them for the first time. Both sides are amazing in their unique respective ways... and yet it's the same waterfall!!
Zimbabwe has the view.But the falls are in Zambia.
I strongly feel both countries should share the proceeds

Vic Falls, Hwange national park, Bulawayo, Masvingo, Harare...
Warthogs will not attack unprovoked. They are not aggressive. They are, however, dangerous if cornered (or if in rut). Just never corner one. It is the lower tusks that do the damage. They are razor sharp. If they are nearby, back up slowly and give them an out. You will not out run one nearby. They can reach 55 kph (35 mph) in short bursts.

Scottish explorer David Livingstone may have named the falls after his reigning queen in 1855, but the Kalolo-Lozi people had their own name for it - Mosi-oa-Tunya, “the smoke that thunders.”

Just loved to see Victoria Falls again, I lived in Rodesia - Zimbabwe from 1975 to 1985, now living Azores islands and you are making me itchy to visit, love Africa.
Wow, the falls are huge both in height and width. So far, Zimbabwe looks like a good nation to visit.
3 mission trips to Zim, a wonderfull place to visit. So many things to see, walking with lions at Antelope Park is well worth the trip.
"The smoke that thunders" never fails to impress. During a full moon one can witness what they call a moonbow. I think that anyone who is not awed by the majesty of this natural wonder is probably tired of life. Another wonderful adventure. Thank you

We have a beautiful moonbow at Cumberland Falls,Ky on clear nights every month.
There is at least one waterfall in the US that has a moonbow.

It's a couple of years ago since I stayed in VicFalls for the last time. These warthogs were used to be feeded by visitors. I gave a piece of bread and they were happy

At Vic Falls walked up by surprise on an elephant, outside of the gates you are in the bush ! Watch your back in zim .

Never realized how large the Vic falls are. Amazing. I love how everyone asks if you are afraid.
Victoria Falls is so much larger then I imagined and beautiful. All the wild life you have seen is amazing. Difficult to realize the amount people have paid to for a guide to see what you have seen. I know you spend lots of time in research for your travels. For that everyone thanks you.

I also lived Zim many years without visiting the falls. Seems like most citizens don't bother to see the tourist attractions in their own countries.
It was 51 years ago that I visited Victoria Falls. I was a child and went there with my mother and father at the age of 7. Amazing to see them again especially now that I live in New Zealand. Thanks for sharing.

@@MrMaziar58 I was there in 1976; I drove from the UK to SA in VW Kombi, and saw the falls..the area was not so built up, and you just wandered to the falls, no paths etc...was a wonderful time. Well done Noraly, respect.
in 1976 we visited family in Rhodesia, and when at the falls i carved my name on a tree, i wonder if it still there, we then traveled for 24 hours on a ferry down the Kariba dam, those where epic times. so glad to see this again.

The lack of signage at our public spaces always irks me. Even us locals struggle to know what to do or where to go at places such as border posts. And the officers arent bothered😅

Vic Falls, one of my favourite places, been there so many times and never fails to be awe-inspiring.
I used to drive 4 times a year from South Africa to Serengeti Park in Tanzania to go to work and then back home again in my Landy.
When I reached Vic Falls on every drive down I always felt like I was "home again".
Can't wait to move back home to South Africa and leave Europe far behind me!!!

The first time I stayed in Vic Falls I was staying at a backpackers, sitting outside and a warthog walked up to me and let me scratch his back. I didn't know whether to be scared or not, but he was chill.

I am really jealous. To have Vic Falls to yourself with the river running low. Last time I was there with the river in full flow, couldn't see anything for the spray. Enjoy the country of my birth.

If you think South Africa was beautiful, brace yourself for Zim. Spectacular country. Fantastic people. Stay on a housboat on Lake Kariba. Hwange is fantastic. Nyanga to the east is breathtaking. The stone carvings, the art, the pottery. Find some flame lilies. I could go on and on.

@@francoiswilliams it is his opinion. Zim has its good spots too... and there are less of a preserve for certain classes of people (land is state owned, so any leased land for game reserves and parks cannot be subject to any form of segregation) and are more accessible to everyone.
Firstly, I did not intend to imply one was better than the other. I was born in SA and absolutly love the county. I have been lucky enough to travel to Zim quite often and think its also spectacular. I feel Its shear beauty has for too long been overshadowed by the negative press of the past. I have also been very lucky to meet some wonderful Zimbabweans, so my opinion is based on my personal experience and I am excited to watch IB's upcomming vids :-)

I’ve seen the Victoria Falls ( Mosi-oa-Tunya: which translates to “ the smoke that thunders”. ) several time in my lifetime. I was lucky enough to be brought up in Zambia & Rhodesia (Zimbabwe) and had the pleasure of seeing this magnificent natural wonder of the world. 😍😍😍

Oh wow! I named my daughter after those falls. 50 years ago when i was just 9 years old i saw a film about them at our local cinema and fell in love with them, ive always wanted to go to Zimbabwe and see them. When i retire i will go. Thank you so much for the wonderful footage, means so much. X

What you said is insulting to the many who have been killed, kidnapped and humiliated by others on the continent. Vic falls are part of the Rift Valley, a fault line that runs all the way up the right coast line of Africa. It produced Kilimanjaro and I think ends around where Madagascar is today - which itself and along with Australia and Antartica broke away from. The Rift is a very sacred part of the world in that it produced the first humans and gave rise to some of the most unique species across the planet.

So much joy from showing this video to my kids and the photos of me in the same spots at the falls, 12 years ago. Much seems to have changed and for the better.
Great stuff. I love Africa! I have made a dozen trips to UGANDA, the Pearl of Africa, and have grown to love all of the Continent. So much diversity and the people are so welcoming and amazing--even for us Muzungus. Been around many warthogs in Uganda, they are definitely not afraid of people and hang around a lot of the hotels. Safe travels.

Depends on the country of Africa you're talking about... Some are poor, some are middle income and others actually have a quite good standard of living...
@@guleiro Standard of living is one thing, yes, I can go and buy a Ferrari tomorrow, but the fact that the paperwork takes 6 months to get done to own it cos it keeps getting 'Lost'!!! is the day to day issues that travellers do not see when they whizz through somewhere.

Today things are much different. I bought a new car two years ago and the registration process took 2 days.
I get your point but it really depends on the country. Some countries are still stuck in the old ways but others are quite good.
Maybe if you mention the name some specific countries it will be easier to understand.

Love it! Neither words nor images can truly describe the force of nature that are the Victoria Falls - a destination not to be missed. Please be sure to have tea at the Vic Falls hotel, visit the Boma for dinner, hang out for a beer at Zambezi house, and for sure, not to be missed, a river cruise for sundowners on the Zambezi! Have fun - this country (my country) is truly amazing! Wish I could have been riding along on this one...
My brother and I had dinner and drinks at the Vic Falls Hotel - a memorable night, with wart hogs strolling across the huge expanses of lawn....
What a beautiful way to start in a new country. Hope this is an indication of what (i believe) beautiful country Zimbabwe must be. I can understand why you fell in love with this beautiful continent.

@@bustersmith5569 Well, after the change of goverment in 1980 i stayed on hoping that the country would settle down and get back to normal. It did not, history shows what happened in Zimbabwe.

@@markperry5429 No, not driven off. My parents left before i did. When i left there were limits of what one could take, no new cars, furniture and the like. I took my new landrover caravan and boat out on holliday and just did not go back.
My dad and step family lived in Zim from ‘92-‘95. My brother and I would go visit them every summer and Christmas break. I miss that country SO much!!! I was actually born in Nairobi, Kenya and have lived in Canada since I was 2 or so.
Itchy Boots is becoming a weekly tradition, As always the best way to end a week and enjoy a 20 minute morning cup of coffee at a nice slow pace to start the day. As a rule i've always been a solo rider, but riding with Noraly is the best possible exception to any rule that i could imagine.Thank you for the weekly peek into your wondeful world on two wheels. Warthogs are actually extremely common in Vic falls, they are part of the furniture. Definitely not to be underestimated. Zim and particularly Vic Falls have VERY aggressive elephants. Be SAFE! . PS thank you for showcasing my amazing home (Southern Africa) . Adore you and the channel.
To Noraly...When an African elephant spreads his ears, and possibly trumpets, be very careful! It is their warning sign. Point your bike away from them and be ready to move quickly, even though it might be the wrong direction!

Yay, Zimbabwe my birth place. I have been to the Vic. Falls many times but still found it exhilarating seeing it with you again Noraly. Go and see the tribal dancing and music at the Vic. Falls hotel if they still do it and a sundowner cruise up the Zambezi is nice too. Also the white water rafting below the falls if you are feeling adventurous. Take care as always and enjoy this wonderful country.

Experiencing that much water all at once must have felt so surreal after so much time spent in deserts.
"Only" an hour to cross the border. Thank God (and good leaders) for the Schengen agreement!

When you cross into Zambia, go visit The Royal Livingstone/ Avani Resorts for Giraffes/Zebras or mukuni Big 5 to walk with Lions - and of course see Victoria Falls on the Zambian side…. Was there three months ago.. Absolutely magnificent!
Walking with lions is a bad idea. Those lions are sold off for hunting once they outgrow the walks. They are not afraid of people after being used for the walks and then can only be destroyed.
@@shaunumz whether that is the fate of the lions at this destination, or not, I would still agree that it's not an activity that should be supported.
@@shaunumz- When a country has little remaining economic interests, other than it's tourism today, it does whatever it can, sells whatever available, to bring a modicum of financial relief to it's people.
History Note; Previous to the 'Equality forcing' world interfering, bringing about shear terror, maiming, torture, a loss of life, in neighborhood of a 1,000,000 or so souls, prosperous Rhodesia' previously fed a large part of Africa, among many other shared financial gains.. ;}

I visited Victoria Falls twice 1995 and 1997. Great scenery Good people. My Recommendation very nice trip. 🌍🌍🌍🕊🕊🕊🕊🇸🇰
