OH I got to mention pull from eternity! It's a single white, and put target card from exile into the graveyard. I primarily thought of this from the ugin's nexus interaction so that it could then be copied from grave, but this also works great with any other high target artifact to put it in graveyard and then create two more tokens of it. Cheers!
It's probably no coincidence that one of the most popular Boros commanders is Feather because she gets tons of potential card advantage and value....in exchange for building around her of course making most her lists pretty static but still!
I've never wanted to play Boros more in my life, this is so cool Boros, sorry, Lorehold Speaking of the name thing though, maybe we, as a community, could use this. Boros are the bad Red White commanders, while Lorehold are the good ones
Feather is still boros because thats the guild's name on the plane that feather is from and lorehold is specific to strixhaven, i get where you're coming from but boros has been slept on for way too long
Willowdusk is a really interesting and unconventional Commander, and I'd love to see someone of your caliber tackle the challenge of brewing around her
I'm building the Witherbloom commander... Wall of Blood + Momentous Fall... Pay almost all my life, make the wall a 40/40, sac it... Gain 40 life and draw 40 cards.
No one's talking about storm kiln artist, one of the most busted uncommons I've seen in a while, treasures off not just cast but also copy, like wow, my Krark and sakashima deck got a major power up
An interesting (though expensive) way to create loops in this deck could be via Codex Shredder and Pull from Eternity. For 5 mana, you can sac Shredder to get back any card from your graveyard, so here's a potential loop. Have Codex Shredder in your yard, Osgir on the battlefield, and Pull in your hand. Use Osgir's ability to exile Shredder, making 2 copies, then cast Pull to put it back in your graveyard. Then use one of the Shredder copies to put Pull back in your hand. You can then cast Pull again to put whatever you want back in your yard, and another Shredder to get it back out again. Repeat. It's a slow loop that requires multiple turns to get real value, assuming you don't have any untap effects, but it allows you to repeatedly copy valuable artifacts, so I think it's worth including in a commander deck.
I was already pretty excited for this commander but this video gave me some new ideas. I love this new direction for Boros that isn't just purely "aggro smash smash". Some more considerations: I think wheels, rummage and selfmill effects could be really good here because they refill yoir hand but also fill your yard for Osgir to take advantage of.
Commander's Sphere would be pretty great here as well but I think I'd most like to actually recommend the moments. Oketra's Monument is great for getting your wide strategy going but doubling up on the looting from Hazoret's Monument to help get selective artifacts in the grave without having to play and sacrifice them would be huge!
But they are legendary artifacts, are they not? Correct me if I'm wrong. While they would be awesome, it would be difficult to include them for the multiplication part of the strategy.
@@backpackhermit Ask to borrow Money Mitch's Hall of Mirrors. Good point though, but I would include some of the monuments for recursion at least then, especially Hazoret's to get expensive stuff in the grave for previously mentioned recursion.
And then there is me..waiting for strixheaven, waiting for wizards and hoping for a STRONG IZZET ( The best representation of"magic" in magic with spells and wizards) commander and they gave it to me that shitty 4 mana 1/4 understats as fuck with the only actually playable effect of scrying every time..
@@alessandrodellanno948 at least if you (somehow) cast a 10 cmc spell you get all the effect, you scry, create a 4/4 and 10 damage. But there surely will be some support to cast such spells
Pull from eternity seems like a good include. For W you can put a card in exile into it's owners library. Get 2 more sol rings! Or 2 more artifact lands!
For Ugin's Nexus you can still use the doubling ability just put the card into your graveyard another way, then use your commander's ability to make two copies. one copy is immediately sacrificed due to the legend rule. use your commander's other ability to sacrifice the second, then you take two extra turns!
Dragon Throne of Tarkir would be a wonderful card for him. Basically the deck is going to run a lot of Modular artifact creatures from Darksteel; which can come back with his second ability. So you can use them as chump blockers as long as you have one or two to take all the +1s. Then equip the Throne on the stacked one; then have that one tap to give all the other creatures tons of damage and trample. Most players would have to focus on destroying the throne due to the stacked artifact creature having Modular. Then Osgir can copy the destroyed throne so you have two more chances to win the game.
@Bo Kuen Tao no I meant "CMC" being shorthand or MTG slang for converted mana cost. Granted it's not that hard to pick up on it's meaning, however when reading directly from the card, mana value rolls off the tongue better than converted mana cost. At least in my opinion.
This can make a brutal equipment deck definitely going in my Tiana ship's caretaker deck also there's at least two commanders I can think of that give you card advantage in boros
A card that would fit very well here (though a one off unless combo'd) is pull from eternity, let's you put something in exile into the yard. It's a card that's usually overlooked but I think for one Mana being able to clone an artifact again is real good
This was for sure the most interesting commander they showed from the C21 commander decks. But maybe we'll get a few other commander options inside the decks that aren't the face commander.
Just preaching a bit here about our good boy, Slobad. If you want to run Osgir as commander, you HAVE TO run Slobad in the list. He'll be doing amazing things for that deck.
With Lotus Bloom you can get a whole lot of mana with Osgir if you get it into your graveyard with cards like faithless looting. 6 extra Mana quite early on can be very powerful.
The coveted jewel interaction I don't quite understand. When Mitch talks about sacrificing it in response to an attack, I though the ability only works at sorcery speed? How do you use it in response?
Actually, the ability only triggers after blockers are declared, because they need to be "unblocked creatures", similar to Master of cruelties. So right after attackers are declared, if you see you won't have any viable blocks, you can sacrifice them before going to the "declare blockers" step Woah, just reread all that, i'm an idiot and i misunderstood your question ; you're damn right it's sorcery speed! 😅
If you can discard Ugin's Nexus then you can copy it and when they hit the battlefield one dies so you get an extra turn and you can save the other for later. Seems pretty good. And red has tons of cards that could let you do that.

It does work! Reminder that both Nexuses tokens would have to be sacrificed (one from state-based effect, the other from osgir presumably) in order for you to take the extra turns. Otherwise the remaining Nexus would make you skip your own extra turn

With Wyleth, the new Akiri, and Feather, I feel like card advantage isn't as crazy unique in Boros as it used to be.
