In my opinion this was the scariest part of the game (even though most of it is terrifying). The atmosphere was so unsettling going in there and being stuck downstairs with the monster (Grunt). You felt so unsafe and uncomfortable. Just praying that you have enough oil for the lantern and tinderboxes so you can see anything. And the soundtrack is so sinister it just gives you the chills.
@@tvdastardlydirk9942 In my opinion encountering the Brute isn't as scary as meeting the Grunt. It's not ugly enough. The Grunt is just too terrifying to even look at (symbols a humanoid disfigured zombie monster) while the Brute is just terrifying and reminds me a little bit of the soldiers statues that you see in the beginning of the game (it doesn't even have a face it's got teeth for it). The Grunt also just melee's you to death with its claws while the Brute has to rely on weapons to kill you like I don't know. In the Choir area there's only Brute. I'm not as afraid of it as I am of the Grunt. They even look cool and badass I feel more intimidated than scared and frightened.
@@tvdastardlydirk9942 I think the Choir was the least scary, it felt like Subnautica Active Lava zone, like just being close to the end and feeling happy because of it. And I hadn't died in Choir in my first playthrough, i hadn't ever died in my first playthrough, the first time I died was when I was just messing around in Hard Mode. And I died in Choir like 3 times in Hard Mode. I only died in HardMode, and yes I did also play through in hard mode.
Interesting thing here to note is the placement of this music, *SPOILER* It's right after you leave the back halls, the heavenly music that played just moments ago, gives this song more impact on the stark difference in ambiance & the feeling of being reluctant to venture further into the storage. 10/10 Audio/game design, will shit my pants once more.
sounds like the perfect song to add to a game were a group of mercenaries try to stabalize an anomalous field while dealing with a demon from another world that is near invisible

It's calming in a way because it's so good. A masterpiece of horror media in a sea of cheap mediocre superficial jumpscares and tropes. This is the music of true horror. It's soft but absolutely dreadful and black, just like the storage. The swelling sounds are less like breezes of air, and more like evil energy surrounding you.

From the memory sounds in the Storage, it is heavily implied that Daniel performed a cold-blooded murder in there.

Very strangely, yes... kinda like... hinding in a very unlikely but safe place from someone who is blindly willing to kill you. That kind of feeling.
If you find this kind of stuff calming as well, you might enjoy Cryo Chamber. It's a channel dedicated to dark ambience.
