@@SamReyesMunoz Chase has a guideline where you can only be approved for a credit card if you have had less than 5 new credit card applications within the last 24 months. Hence the phrase "5/24". Sebby uploaded this video on May 24th, 5/24. So 5/24 day is the day that people tend to talk about their Chase Cards. Hopefully this helped.
Yay for Hyatt. I got the WOH card earlier this year when the sign up bonus was higher. I highly recommend especially with their expanding footprint this year. It's a keeper card for sure..
Yeah I agree with the Starbucks card, I always think it's pointless since I do not go to starbucks often and IMO they do not have the best coffee. I usually go there if it is the only option. Plus those Star rewards are not much, you can only redeem them for drinks and stuff and its alot of stars to get them redeem too.
When speaking about the Freedom card @10:45 you say 5% back could really mean 10% or 7.5% back. I'm new to this but I'm assuming you mean you can potentially get more by transferring your points to your CSP/CSR and redeeming through the UR transfer partners?
I had 8 new accounts open in less than 24 months and applied for the freedom unlimited and got approved. A week later i applied for sapphire preferred and got approved again. Idk what's going on but i like how it is going.
Sebby, can you clarify the no perks on the Chase Sapphire Preferred? I was under the impression the insurances, and coverage of this card was comparable to the Reserve!
Took your survey But here’s my list. CSR Freedom SW Priority United Explorer Chose SWA and United as they have a heavy presence where I live. Had the Freedom for a very long time. CSR is where I build my points. As for a hotel card, I use the Amex Aspire.
I just got the slate. I did the no interest in 15 months. It's savings was really good for me. I paid off my credit one and closed it. Plus my cap 1 that never reported. And a green dot secured that I have had for over 2 years. So slate worked for me. The rep said I can upgrade to freedom in 6 months or just get it as additional card from them. My scores are good. I just wanted to get out of debt soon. I don't want to be paying credit card bills when I am 80 on social security. Thanks sebby. Love your videos 😍.
Wow Sebby ... I did a similar ranking scale but I integrated several cards from the business side of my analysis. I can say we're spot-on except for the CSR ... I have both CSP cards on my list. But you have given me something to thing about. Bravo young man well done. 👏
Definitely love this style of video...not many 15 minute videos hold my attention, but this one had me on the edge of my seat for the duration! I would be stoked if you replicated this model with Amex in the near future.
Chase trifecta plus the WOH card makes by far the most sense for me. I transfer all my points to Hyatt and seem to average 2c/point with basically zero hassle.
Awesome video, lots of super good information! A video just like this for ALL the Bank business cards would be awesome, and of course an American Express version would be super useful! Girlfriend and I are very much in the early game, so this year I’ve gotten the CSP, she got the Chase FU, the Ink Cash and she’s gonna get the CSP here in a few weeks! Aside from the Ink cards, I definitely think I want the Hyatt Card as my next personal, and maybe a Southwest one after. Thanks again Sebby!
Question kind of off topic. I have a player 2. And she has CSR and I have a venture. After we buy our first house in a couple months we will start getting as many sign up bonuses as possible. Is it best to each get each of the chase cards or only one of each card between us. So I’d have CSP and she has CSR etc. or maybe we get opposite cards then refer her to the cards I have and she refers me to her cards?
I’m super new to CC’s and it’s like watching videos on learning a foreign language. I feel like I need to start at the introductory level and work my way up. Should I watch random videos and they will start to make sense or is there an order I need to follow? Sorry to sound so ignorant but I truly want to do this the correct way. Thanks for any help you can provide.
I had a Chase card (can't remember the name) since 1996. It was kept going because I had an annual autopay from it for a credit monitoring agency. Then I discontinued that sometime in the early/mid 2010's. Later, the card morphed into the Slate card. When I continued to ignore the card, the company eventually closed it in 2017.
One thing you should probably mention is that for a lot of these csrds ( travel ones for example) you need to have great credit and a long history of credit. The sapphire preffered and Reserved can't be obtained by people(most I should say) that have started building credit for a couple years or just started building
Slates benefit of No Balance transfer fee is a huge perk. specially if youre trying to avoid paying interest on a big expense you are paying off of a 0% apr card. I know you dont like that game, but when its nessesary, this card is Huge.
2/1 Ink Preferred Great bonus...good multipliers depending on spend... Transfer Partners... good downgrade path 2/1. Ink Cash Good bonus... good multipliers....no AF 3. Ink unlimited Good bonus...Same as freedom unlimited...no AF 4. Southwest Good bonus...alright multipliers...no downgrade / PC 5. United good bonus...meh multipliers... no downgrade / PC
First, great video! Love these kind of videos. Second I think a video of the top 30 cards from all companies would be cool. Also maybe a guide on which cards to get in which order. I saw another TH-camr do something similar where he went with what card you should get first and then kept going. Obviously chase cards were first.
hey Sebby, I was wondering if you kept your "SPG" now Marriott Bonvoy card? I am still a bit confused as whether I should keep it or not. There is a $95 fee, however I think it now comes with a yearly free night award. The switch definitely made if more confusing, and I would appreciate some more guidance.
But the Chase slate card offers 0% APR for time period and transfer fee of $0.00. Almost all other balance transfer cards charge a transfer fee. I think Slate is the only one that doesn't.
Would it be possible to do a current top ten list of credit cards with this type of ranking?I liked the layout.i think that a top ten list of cards with their benefits&weaknesses would be great info. There are so many cards.Who's the real king?(p.s...I just read a review saying that balance transfer is an option,[promotion depending on credit worthiness], with Chase cards. Meaning not a standard function in every card issued like American Express. Is that true? )
Very nice video. I have the United explorer card but I'm looking to change because I feel they have too many restrictions on mile usage and I fly United less these days.
sisslims29 guess Because You have to put some kind of Deposit to open the account. Most of the time, They give you the same line of credit of your first deposit. If you send them $500, They will give you a $500 CC. But Capital One is a little different, They will give you a $200 CC and you for a deposit ranging from $29 to $200 depending of your credit...but if you make the first 5 payments on time, They increase your available credit right away. That’s why I have Capital One as the Best Secured card on the market.
Spencer | Sweis12 I have it and it’s not that bad. It’s true that they have few fees but that’s one of the consequences for having bad credit. You just have to make sure to pay your balance every month so You avoid paying interest. The good thing about Credit One is that They report every month to the 3 credit bureaus and They increase your available fast. After you build your credit with those 4 CCs, you can apply for a new one and cancel the one that it’s not working for you.
Loved the video. Haven't heard of the Hyatt Card ranked 2nd, so it was good to hear a little about it; will definitely research it now. The Chase Unlimited had been my good to right now ONLY because of the 3% promotion they had recently. Then I transfer points to my CSP card for better UR usage. I'd rank it a tad higher for the first year with its current promo.
9:20 United Explorer "With United status if you are someone who can run their rent or other expenses through their cards, there's a waiver system so you don't have to spend as much money on United flights." What are the details on this? 9:50 Sapphire Preferred "has a really good out" "you have a system and mechanism to downgrade it to downgrade it to no annual fee cards" - would those cards be Sapphire and the Freedom cards?
1) They used to have a PQD waiver that's very different now: www.united.com/ual/en/us/fly/help/faq/premier-qualifying-dollars-pqd.html 2) Yes, Freedom/CFU/Slate/Sapphire (no AF version)
Amazing video. Im from South Africa and are have no choice of creditcards but love your videos as i am obsessed with points and miles.Wished sumone could share their elite status for hotels in exchange for free safaris in south africa
I Have A Question, *I Had a ''Thin Credit File'' and a FICO SCORE of 0, So I Started My ''Credit Re-Build Journey'''* Back in May of this year, with the Capital One & the Discover It Secured Cards (Both starting with a & $200 Credit Limit). The Capital One Graduated After 5 Billing Cycles and Increased my Credit Limit To $500, The Discover It tho, after 8 Months, (Just Recently) Increased My Credit Limit To $2000?!! I Was Like, WOW, Surprisingly!! I Now have *a FICO SCORE well over 700!* My Question to you is Do You Think I would qualify for any of these card(s) at This Time? I Want To Get Two more Credit Cards for a Total of 4 Starter Cards in My ''Credit Re-Build Journey'''?...Also do you think I Should Apply For The Citi Double Cash Back & The Case Freedom at The Same Time or should I Just apply for one RIGHT NOW? (Now Correct Me If I'm Wrong, But I Do Believe I Would ONLY get *1 Hard Inquiry Right?* {Like what happen when I Applied for The Capital One & Discover It Secured Cards, *ON THE SAME DAY?)* Please Give Me Your Honest opinion! Thanks.
@asksebby Great video. I'm looking to get into the Chase CC ecosystem and this video helps. For the 1st Chase card, I'm debating b/w the Freedom vs. the CSP, then upgrade to CSR. What are your thoughts?
Sebby, I originally had the CSR. After year 1, I downgraded it to the freedom unlimited because I was not anticipating traveling in year 2. I am now rarely using my freedom unlimited card because I am busy hitting other minimum spend. I am planning on traveling a few times in the next year, would it make sense to product change back to CSR? Pro's/Con's to product changing the same account multiple times? Thanks!
CSR for sure is #1. I’m not that sure about SW Priority: many benefits you can get w/o the card (2 free checked bags, free cancellation of award booking, award booking same availability as cash booking), and the annual statement credit and points just slightly offset the annual fee. The companion pass point accumulation is a good reason, but feel that’s too far of a goal at 110K points for me who doesn’t fly domestic that much (and SW is pretty much not international) unless you get the business card too. Good points about the other cards.
Awesome infos thanks!! Do you know sebby If I can get the chase business credit card, if I'm NOT an American resident and citizen with a business bank account overseas?
Nice fun video. We all have our favorites. These cards become hobbies as much as they are tools to better rewards. It's nice to see your ranking on them. Do Amex next!
haytnas I agree. I think CFU is a good non AF card. You can use it when every other card only gives 1 point per dollar. Idk why I PARRY U says it overrated. It’s a cool card. 😎
I think people rather use the opportunity to earn other currencies when nothing is a 3X multiplier with Chase UR. I can see someone using an Alaska card or something else for non bonus spend and I would completely understand. Getting 1.5 UR is not as sexy as getting 2 MR with Amex Blue Biz Plus.
Hi Sebby, I was reading on million mile secrets about a datapoint for the British Airways card where when calling to cancel, the cardholder was offered an option to downgrade to a no annual fee version of the card. If this is true, would this affect how you would rate that card?
Geography and personal habits really can alter rankings of the top cards. Southwest doesn't fly out of our city so that card is of zero value. When we fly, our layovers are short so lounge access is rarely needed and our home airport doesn't have any, so the CSR is less valuable and I personally value an airline card higher to get free baggage. Having said that after a year I will consider upgrading my CSP to CSR to get the higher multipliers and the 1.5% boost. Great video - yes I would like to see more like this.
5/24 day.... nice touch

I missed that for a second. Clever.

I used my Marriott night in Munich and got a $330 hotel for $95. Solid!
"19. Amazon Rewards" *heads to dislike button*
"Before you hit the dislike button, this is NOT the Amazon Prime card" *stops myself*
Whew! That was close 😂
Hit the dislike button.. just because. I did not or could not stop myself.
I think we define "perks" differently. For the CSP, you have great travel protection and transfer partners.
If you opened a Chase card this month, you’d have an expiration date of 5/24. 😊
You should do one with Amex
I was gonna suggest the same exact thing.
Yay for Hyatt. I got the WOH card earlier this year when the sign up bonus was higher. I highly recommend especially with their expanding footprint this year. It's a keeper card for sure..
Happy 5/24 day fellow credit card nerds
Ummm I didn’t want this to end. Would love to see this with Amex🎷
You should do something similar for AMEX
Your channel (and others) have helped me fall in love with the CC game. Y’all are the realest.
Thanks Sunshine :)

Hey Seby maybe a updated version of this video for 2021/2022
This morning, I read on reddit "Mr Dimon, tear down this wall!" (referring to 5/24)
Seriously, lol.
Like the ranking videos! Would love to see more for other groups of cards (Amex, early game, Travel, etc).. especially in a 'tier list' format 😉
More like this, please. Very cool rundown.
Please do an UPDATE for
May 2021
Pleaseeeee 🏆
As someone currently at 4/24, this is very much appreciated!

Chase Sapphire reserve, undoubtably the premium card on the market today!
I would love an updated version of this in 2022!!!
The Disney points only apply to Disney, something I didn't notice when I signed up for it.

You have no idea how much your videos have helped me. Thanks a million.
Grt video...could you do this for American Express and CITI?
I was really confused about the Amazon Card, its a good thing you explained it wasn't the Prime card, I didn't even know they had another card.
What does it mean to downgrade a card?
no way CSR would still be the top if this list were made again this year.

Very nice video. I have the United explorer card but I'm looking to change because I feel they have too many restrictions on mile usage and I fly United less these days.
Top 4 credit cards for ppl with no Credit
1 - Capital One Secured Card
2 - Discover it Secured Card
3 - Credit One Bank
4 - Merrick Bank Secured
How would I know if your cc is secured card? I have 3 out of your 4 card.
I would NEVER reccomend credit one cards. Really bad rates and lots of fees. Just go with one of the secured cards.
sisslims29 guess Because You have to put some kind of Deposit to open the account. Most of the time, They give you the same line of credit of your first deposit. Credit One is trash. Do NOT get a card with 1% rewards and a Annual fee. Just pay for a secured and build up your credit.
bonvoy boundless should be downgradable to bold (no annual fee) now?

1) They used to have a PQD waiver that's very different now: www.united.com/ual/en/us/fly/help/faq/premier-qualifying-dollars-pqd.html
2) Yes, Freedom/CFU/Slate/Sapphire (no AF version)
The no-fee Sapphire doesn't seem to be offered any longer by Chase. Asked to downgrade from Preferred to a no-fee Sapphire and it wasn't offered.
0:45 I didn't know there was a difference. I have a chase card. It's blue and it says chase.
For the united explore card what waiver system is there ?
Can someone explain the waiver system the United Explorer card? I was kinda confused at that bit haha
Where do you rank the Ritz-Carlton card?
Easily top 5 I guess, but its not publicly available anymore
You know damn well you ain't never gonna get a Ritz-Carlton card
You and this are AWESOME!!!
Should I try to get the United Explore Card or a Chase Card in the future?

Hey sebby, whats a good trifecta without paying a yearly payment?????
how long should one keep the sapphire reserve? ive been having it for over 4 yrs already.
For as long as you get positive value
Does the Amazon/chase card also use the 5/24 Rule?

When we fly, our layovers are short so lounge access is rarely needed and our home airport doesn't have any, so the CSR is less valuable and I personally value an airline card higher to get free baggage. Having said that after a year I will consider upgrading my CSP to CSR to get the higher multipliers and the 1.5% boost. Great video - yes I would like to see more like this.
