just an FYI, Mike Kelsey offered a non-apology at a different MBC meeting. it was more of a "I'm sorry for the way you heard me" kind of thing. I believe I did see the video here on yt.
I heard Lon Solomon on the radio years before the change in the church. He was a solid Bible teacher. I definitely saw changes when he left the pulpit.
I remember seeing mike kelsey there in person back in 2015 or so. he looked super young and wearing pants too tight and i had an off feeling. unbelievable that he's now the head pastor of this mega church. unbelievable. smh. Back then, it was the original, founding pastor, Lon Solomon.
That guy is not in position to be a pastor: According to the Bible, a pastor must have the following qualifications: Be blameless Be in good standing in their marriage and immediate family Be patient, hospitable, and apt to teach Be MATURE and called in their life and in their faith Be able to preach Have some form of formal theology study Be respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not a bully but gentle, not quarrelsome Have a good reputation among outsiders Be a person of integrity and worthy of the respect of those both inside and outside the church If your mentality can be taken by the wiles of this world, and wanting to torch a group of people based on their race then you are not qualified to be a pastor. Plain and simple!
For the record: Kelsey DID apologize for the fact that his WORDS were "hurtful" to some--fortunately, only to white people. However, as any Christian should know, repentance is a change of more than just your words.
I don’t know a lot about Platt but when a man is plowing through scandal and pitches the change as a positive, talking about his excitement and “opportunities”, it comes off as insincere. The first reason I never liked his preaching let lone that of Francis Chan or Matt Chandler
