Just saw yesterday, but as a black man, people like him make my blood boil. My right minded brothers at MBC were right to contact the elders and tell them not to divide the people over this nonsensical "doctrine."
I am black, not weak, I am black, not a victim, and most importantly, I am victorious due to christ, not by the promise of reparations. 40 acres and a mule would never save a man. Period.

      Your view is appreciated.....
(Re: your punctuation of the word Christ:
it would be great for that commonly used title description of Jesus -- which means, "anointed," or, "anointed one," --to have the first letter CAPITALIZED.
If edited on your smartphone, the Editing function can be accessed by clicking on the three vertically aligned dots located to the right of your comment.
Thank You for correcting this oversight....It is quite bothersome for some people to see this word, (which surely falls in the category of English "proper words") not to be designated/marked by the first letter capitalized, and thus diminished.

I am so glad to hear a pastor say that. Twice I have been in a church where a new pastor came and endeavored to wipe out all connections with the church's past, even doing petty things like removing plaques from the walls in order to accomplish that. I find it very disturbing and offensive. In one of those cases, when the pastor dropped dead at the age of 53, it was written in his obituary that he was the founder of the church when in fact it had been founded 50 years previously with a different name. I marvelled that he had so brainwashed the leaders of the church that they would put a lie like that in the newspaper.
Only Jesus is the owner of the local church. A pastor is a steward not the owner.

I look forward to watching and learning. Knowing this was forthcoming I have some questions…
It’s my understanding that Lon Solomon signed a non disclosure agreement (‘NDA’) when he left MBC. I’m curious what was confidential/sensative in a normal pastoral transition that needed an NDA? I am assuming Lon approved of the transition to David, which stands in opposition to what I had thought which is…Lon (and I could be wrong and folks have a right to change their mind) repeatedly and publicly stated he was staying in the McLean Bible pulpit til the Lord called him home? Do folks that put this video together think Lon and the all male elder board were “hoodwinked/purchased a lemon?” Also, why didn't Lon stay the lead pastor at MBC? Did the elders ask Lon to move on or was it Lon’s decision? Has the NDA expired? If so, has Lon and the elders at the time (except for Craig Proulx) publically addressed the questions we all have?

It is by no coincidence that the same top SBC player backing Platt during the takeover of and turmoil at McClain Bible Church with Platt was also central to the turmoil and subsequent SBC takeover at First Baptist Church of Naples Florida. Who was the man who participated in promotional videos before both congregations to introduce them to their new SBC man? In each case local ministries were being sacrificed. And for what? So resources could get redirected and funneled to the SBC?
Sadly David Platt is beholden to the same man. It’s all about power and how to redirect funds into the hands of the SBC elites. In my estimation they don’t even have any real philosophical loyalty to CRT, rather CRT is just a convenient and unscrupulous means by which to divide and conquer these churches, get access to their funds and silence their own critics.
Then once you see the nature of the abuses against Pastor William McRaney by the same man, things really start to come into focus. Are we allowed to notice any common denominators and patterns of behavior?

Looks like there was significant overlap between the time Pastor Platt was in charge of IMB and also pastoring MBC which makes that funneling look like a major conflict of interest.

I genuinely don’t get the hate for David. Yes, I’m biased towards him - he has earned that respect.
He answered the “affiliated with the SBC” question quite honestly, it’s not a simple yes or no the way it was worded. She didn’t ask if MBC was a member of the SBC.
I didn’t see anything that wild here, especially if you drown out the opinionated commentary. The most controversial thing was what Pastor Kelsey said about torching white people. That was alarming, but it looks like he publicly addressed it. David’s books fund Radical. I expected to see proof of financial personal gain, but only heard complaints that David directed funds to the SBC. Wow, who would have thought the head of the IMB would seek to continue support that organization in his new role… He’s probably given more to missions through the funds from his writings than I’ll give my whole life.
I get it. The church changed a lot. Some changes were probably regrettable. MBC Isn’t the only church struggling with change. A small observation of what programs Brook Hills did and didn’t have would have clued MBC in on what to expect about spending on programs.
I also didn’t see any proof of David supporting CRT in this video, maybe I missed it. I’m not saying that I agree with him here. He wouldn’t directly denounce CRT in the one clip, but he said it was a much larger conversation. I’d be surprised if he supports CRT in full, but we are naive to think there aren’t merits to some racial concerns. Racism exists in pretty much every culture around the world. I vote extremely conservative, so don’t assume I support anything that singles out a race.
His participation in the march in 2020 was concerning. But that doesn’t explain the comments calling David demonic or evil.
I don’t agree with people who want to vote for Kamala, but there are plenty of them in the church. I would bet a lot of money that David isn’t one of them.
Maybe Part 2 will have more depth to it. Maybe I missed something here.

This is beyond heartbreaking 💔. But Lon Solomon signed a non disclosure agreement? Since when are men beholden to man? No man should AGREE to be bound by such chains. This is the body of Christ, for whom He died.
It has been Satan’s plan from the very beginning. He despises the chosen, and will do whatever it takes to ruin them. And, how-ever he can be the most stealthiest that he can be, he will tear them apart.
    1 Peter 5:8 (NASB95)
Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
May the body of Christ be strengthened by this most devastating news. And may Lon Solomon break the chains from his bondage.
I’m waiting patiently(?) for part 2.

I have never heard of McLean Bible Church until watching this documentary. If this is all true, this is just plain evil. The deceit, the lying, the divisiveness, and the preaching of a social gospel instead of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, it is all quite appalling. It harkens to 2 Peter 2:1-2. This smacks of greed and corporatocracy and I hope that the perpetrators are held accountable. Also these actions should bring great shame to the SBC. You don’t treat fellow believers this way!

When i attended MBC in the early 2000s, the special needs ministry was one of the only ministires like it in the country and served families and people with disabilities incredibly well. MBC even hosted conferences where other churches came to learn and study how to do ministry to people and families with disabilities with the respect and love and thorough care. The fact that David Platt came in and dismantled so many ministries is deplorable. I attended the Church at Brook Hills when he first came to that church and he was a polished orator and did seem to do good by transitioning that church to an elder-led church, but it seems he's always been a polished speaker with an unbiblical agenda. It's hearbreaking to see how he destroyed much of MBC...using its size and success for his own gain and goals and not for the glory of God.

While the concerns about finances, CRT (Critical Race Theory), and DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) are serious and worth examining, much of the criticism in the video seems rooted in personal preferences rather than biblical principles. The individuals in the video do not realize that the true issue lies in following the megachurch model, which is not a biblical approach to church structure.
In essence, while they express dissatisfaction with the current approach to megachurch management, there is no substantial difference between the structure before and after Platt's leadership.

  • @michaelfalsia6062
    @michaelfalsia6062 2 วันที่ผ่านมา +12

Just about everything spoken of here about the whole affair stems from an unbiblical view of the church and church officers. But this is all too common place in my 40 years of experience as a Christian. In fact, it is worse today than the early 80s. True Overseer Shepherds are not made in seminaries, but those living among the people of God who can vouchsafe their character gifts and calling. When the pastors are hires rather than men whose gifts and calling are as a result of being under a sound biblically based church, this type of evil is bound to happen. Seminaries are not churches and are not authorized by the word of God for ministerial nurturing and preparation. Academics, maybe but not Shepherds in the church of God. Never let your elders select an office bearer who has not been thoroughly approved personally by the people of God to verify one's calling. Potential pastors ought to be discovered and raised up in a church without the need or reliance on a para church organization like a seminary. The church is alone the central institution for the business of heaven on earth.

I don't fully agree. Seminaries aren't a bad idea. However I fully agree that you should personally know your pastor, and not hire an outsider that no one in the church knows. We really need both top pastoral training (seminaries, mentorships, etc) and personal character knowledge before the congregation.

    • @michaelfalsia6062
      @michaelfalsia6062 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

@michaellautermilch9185 Fair enough. But think about this. If the pastor(s) are seminary graduates, then they ought to be able to teach to others all that they learned in Seminary. If that is true, then what need is there for a seminary? Seminaries are not a bad idea, and certainly God has used this mode and form of useful training, but why be bound to what is not officially ordained in scripture? A church does not necessarily have to abandon seminary or academic training, but why not begin a ministerial institution right within the church? I experienced this as a church I was part of in NJ. It was a ministerial academy taught and managed by the pastors of our church and anyone who wanted to attend and who believed that God was calling them to that office could become members of the church which was a Baptist church and attend the academy which was free of charge. Once they graduated after 4 years and their character was properly evaluated not only by the Pastors but the whole church who knew what manner of faith and life they exhibited could bear witness to their character and calling and recommend each to be considered for the office of pastor in other churches who were familiar with our faith and practice. Most of these men went on to serve the Lord and his people well. That is a perspective, I think.too many churches fail to see and pursue such an idea. Particularly if a church has the means to do so.

Just so you know family, i've lived and served in the ministry for 30 years 20 of each was in white evangelical churches. My close friends, my entire network was white evangelicals. i took a major hit in my entire world when 16 year old and unarmed Trayvon Martin was killed by Zimmerman. I was under the assumption we would all hurt the same that a 16 old kids with skittles and ice tea going home ends up with a bullet to the chest from a man who basically stalked him and confronted him. I had a baby brother the same age so i thought we were all on the same side. Then my world was rocked base over apex. Everyone of my white friends seemed eager to offer every other reason why the killing was justified. From saying its just the media, to saying the kid looked one way or the other. To say i was bewildered is to understate the facts. It was the first day my eyes open to what was going to unfold...for the next few years.

But there is something rather well-known called the black church. Perhaps you are aware that many of the church-going black people prefer to go to churches in this category. It is therefore as a result logically impossible for black people to be proportionally represented in other churches.

I've been part of the same sort of a similar story where a thriving church had a pastor leave and the new pastor came in with a fire to draw people toward discipleship and true biblical living. The new pastor was run off by the charter members who just wanted things to stay the way they were. The people in this "mockumentary" are looking for reasons to be upset. I am fully aware of what has happened at MBC and you can see the character of people based on the clips shown. Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control are not among the attributes you see from this mob.
