    Its a little hard to to tell but it looks like the bottom of your snap on box has a decent sized gap between the bottom of the box and the bottom of that drawer allowing the cable chain to move freely underneath when the drawer is closed and opening. The bottom of my kra2422 looks like there isn't any gap but it's pretty tight clearance from the bottom of the drawer to the bottom of the tool box so I'm no sure I would be able to do this as much as I would want to. If anyone with the kra2422 snap on box has successfully done this please chime in, thanks

    This is pretty damn cool. I’m thinking about picking up a bigger box, and found an Extreme that I love. But it doesn’t have a power drawer and I was debating on how important that is to me. At least I see it is possible to make one yourself, and still look clean.

    I prefer the Homak slide top Pro 4 drawer in the Green/Blk for a powered diag cart (perfect for Laptop or Tablet use) can find them on sale for $550 sometimes, usually they are about $700. With all electronics / probes / leads / testers paired with wiring cut/crimp and all trim/ panel / fastener / socket + pin + connector removal tools is great together and has helped keep me fast and organized. The US generals suck out of the box. But if you spend the time to upgrade the casters to a lvl D poly wheel setup, and then rivet and super lube each drawer rail for rigidity and smoothness. You basically have the quality of an ICON box at a 1/3 of the price. ICON is a great box but not when you can turn a much cheaper US Gen into one with some DIY upgrades. The only big difference is not getting a lifetime warranty you do with ICON.

    Very nice use of the jokes already there. Should 3D print a cover to go over the pc plug where you soldered the wires on. Other than that I would have used the snap on power strip it has 5 plugs and 2 usbs and you could install it vertically at the right back and it wouldn’t block those last 2 tool cups. Still a very cool install with only one hole drilled in the drawer.

    • @ryanscottmotosports
      @ryanscottmotosports  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the tip on covering the soldered area. Also I didn’t use a larger power strip because I made the smaller drawer on the bottom right a power drawer as well. It has more usb plugs and holds all my lights, Bluetooth speaker and other small rechargeable items.

      The holes in the bottom of the box are in most snap on boxes and from what I’ve seen, they are all the same size hole. So yes, I believe the adapter insert in the bottom will work. You’ll just have to print the chain links for whatever size drawer you have.
