- A pursuit in the South Los Angeles area ended after a police cruiser rammed into the stolen vehicle and pinned it against a curb on May 30, 2019. Sky5 was overhead on.ktla.com/yxUiP

Oliver Taylor well I mean, that Officer doesn’t know what they’re getting themselves into. During a traffic stop, if you start reaching somewhere without asking the officer, it will make the officer uncomfortable and nervous, that would lead to their reaction of unholstering their firearm. And if someone has a gun, real or fake, there is no time to ask questions, the officers training would kick in, and he would shoot the suspect dead. Police are trained to shoot to kill. And nobody would die if everyone just complied, it’s pretty much always the subject/suspects fault for getting shot, it’s rarely the cops for those educated in the field of Law Enforcement.
He wasn’t afraid of the cops! Not for one second. If he were, he NEVER would have driven in circles taunting them the way he did! There was NO fear of the police in this video

My dad retired from the LAPD in 1977 after 30 years. Fifteen of those years was out of 77th Division.
I still amazed by the pedestrians standing on the sidewalk directly in the line of fire with no regard for their own safety if shots are exchanged!

Yep, those big Lincoln Navigators were built like tanks unlike the newer ones. Another platform was the Panther platform better known as the Ford Crown Vic / Mercury Grand Marquis / Mercury Marauder / Lincoln Town Car. I love um, and own one.

In that kind of situation it’s probably safer to stay where you are if you see an out of control car in the middle of the intersection and police cars driving in circles because you don’t know where they’re going to next (unless there’s direct danger, then get the heck out before you’re caught in cross fire)

It really breaks down into torque, horsepower, vehicle weight, and gear ratio, that will affect the feeling of "powerful" in a vehicle. I've been a drag racer for 25 years, and I've played with all 4 of those parameters to make my car(s) the quickest and fastest they can be.

No sooner than he said that, the guy sped up and almost hit two vehicles running that red light. He threw something out the window on the freeway at 2:48. Then stopping and giving homeless people something on the side of the road. These chases are a joke. They need to grow a pair and stop these guys instead of playing follow the leader going in circles.
That chase could have ended much earlier, but the police lacked expertise and common sense. After the first pit, the other officer did not follow-up, he got so confused, the suspect was simply wrapping doughnuts around them. Too many mistakes. Wish I had the time to discuss the last manoeuvre.

A suspect in a South Los Angeles area chase was taken into custody Thursday afternoon after a police vehicle rammed the stolen SUV he was driving - bringing the pursuit to an end.

Officers started following the red Kia Sorrento near South Hoover and West 54th streets in Vermont Square earlier in the afternoon, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Around 2:30 p.m., the chase ended when the SUV was pinned against a curb by an LAPD patrol vehicle near West 54th Street and South Broadway in South Park.
Sky5 was over the scene as the driver could be seen climbing out of the partially crushed SUV and being taken into custody shortly after. He has not been identified by authorities.
Earlier, the driver could be seen fleeing from officers as he drove along the northbound 110 Freeway shortly after 2 p.m.
By 2:15 pm., the vehicle continued southbound onto the 110 Freeway before the driver was seen exiting the freeway as police vehicles continued following.
As the stolen SUV wound through surface streets, it circled an intersection once before stopping along the side of the road. The driver appeared to speak with someone outside the vehicle or have some sort of exchange before driving off.
At 2:24 p.m., the SUV could be seen getting struck by an LAPD patrol vehicle and briefly spinning out before continuing the chase.
Minutes later, a patrol vehicle hit the driver’s side of the SUV and continued ramming it through an intersection until it was pressed against a curb. The suspect was later arrested.
No other details have been released by LAPD.

The police department needs to invest in electronic kill switches where it disables the electronic ignition or coils anything electrical in the car to where the engine will shut down automatically when you aim the trigger at the car

I love the way police just destroyed private property, I get the car being chased, but to recklessly destroy other cars, what aholes. This is why this matters, when the guy on what appears to be a Lincoln Navigator, files a claim against the city he will be told to go after the thief, he or she is at fault. This actually happened to a friend of mine, so SOL for that person.

@kevin burns "Cops are killers?" Seemed to me that they decided the risk to public safety by letting this guy continue to drive recklessly was more than the risk to bystanders. He could have hit and killed a lot more people than this cop risked pushing him into a barrier to stop the vehicle. The barrier just happened to be a SUV. Sucks for the SUV, but in the larger picture it is worth it. I'm sure the LAPD even paid for her taillight and dent repair.

Heh, I bet the owner of the stolen vehicle was like "dude I just wanted my car back, not for you to smash it to stop the guy". Before someone comes along and says "insurance will pay for it", no, insurance never pays enough for a well maintained vehicle, where it's worth less if it's been in an accident and repaired and the payout won't get you a replacement in as good a shape as yours was, the majority of the time.
When the dude running has a gun and is endangering the public your car coming back in one piece is not a guarantee.
Don't you know that insurance is nothing but a racket that steals the peoples money and the states are all involved with the racket why else would states pass laws that make it mandatory you have insurance of course having insurance is a good thing for liability purposes but hell as soon as you drive a new car off the dealers lot it has dropped in value that is why you always check with the insurance company as what they will pay for a new 35,000 dollar automobile then you will see how much your new car is really worth

That cop should not have pushed the car that far. They had him once the other cruiser boxed him in. The cop pushed the car past the point where the had him blocked in. Watch that part again. An innocent person's car was damaged needlessly.
