From Trash to Tools | Tailor's Ham from fabric scraps

  • Throwing away my textile scraps? Not in this household! New tailor's ham unlocked and infinite but very time-consuming opportunities galore. Pillow-shaped objects in all shapes and sizes really do make for the most wonderful scrap-busting opportunities.
Patchwork too. Although fiddly, I do admit I can easily see how this would be addictive.

What a beautiful imperfectly perfect tailor's ham. And the pirate adventure made me smile throughout! 😁

It may or may not have been a big reason why I wanted to do this project, and what was playing in my head as I was filming. 😂

      @@KristineVike I can totally relate 😂

*needlessly epic pirate music interlude* in the captions had me cracking up.
I absolutely love your captioning as someone who relies on cc when watching videos ❤

Yes! Fighting toxic perfectionism one tiny speck at a time! ❤️

This is the first video of yours I've ever watch and it was a turbo subscribed for me. Accompanied of a "wow I love them ❤"

Love this! Personally I'm at the point of life where if I do decide to invest in fabrics or other materials, I need to make sure I get the most out of them just to justify the investment. Thus all the scraps are saved, down to the tiniest bits of yarn, and turned into stuffing. Hopefully one day I can make something beautiful out of them like you did with this project!

I hope you do! It is such a great feeling to use them to the best of one’s ability. And I absolutely understand having to make sure all fabric is well used.

Cute pattern and colorwork! and what a perfect addition to the ironing that I bet many people do lack. I've been using my stuffed toy bear kumamon to do the job😂

Love it. Well done for such a good patchwork. Wonky is more useful as you will have a wider variety of angles to choose from.

Just love your new tailor's ham. It is so lovely, a piece of art for your sewing room. Thank you for sharing and looking forward to another vlog perhaps with the usage of said tailor's ham.... Love from Canada.

This turned out so beautifully! I have been thinking of trying patchwork with my woollen fabric scraps for ages. Thank you for providing this excellent example 😊 I never throw away any scraps, either. However small they might be, you can always use them for something - patches, appliqué, or stuffing as you did.

I am so glad I am not the only one! It brings me much joy that many of us do our best to use scraps. 😊

Hello, Ive noticed your jar pincushion in a lot of your videos. Did you make it?

    • @KristineVike
      @KristineVike  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

I did. It is just a round piece of scrap fabric, embroidered a little, and then gathered and filled with small offcuts and thread clippings. Very easy! :)
