I haven't made the back to ribs gluing video yet, even because the procedure is pretty the same as for gluing the top, that is dry positioning and clamping of the back to ribs and then gluing in sections by removing a few clamps at a time, with the added advantage of be able to clean excess glue on the inside, that cannot be done with the top and the closed box. Time to glue the label, too.😊
Thanks for the video Maestro. The way you locate the point of maximum thickness is interesting. But shouldn't it be the same spot where the highest point of the arch(which should be the center of the plate length) is located?
It's not so important that the point of maximum thickness is preciseli located in that point, it is more important that the central area of greater thickness is in a position centered on the C bout. The system that I use corresponds roughly to that of using the reverse diapason (195 mm measured from the lower edge), which corresponds to what Sacconi calls the center of gravity. In ancient instruments it is almost never found on the middle of the plate. However, what you mark is only a starting point, then during working it may move (or not) higher or lower according to the wood properties and to the arching. The maximum thickness is only a small point and it does not have a "magical" value as some believe, so you can experiment to put it where you want and see the differences.
i wish, i could take some couple of lessons of you on how to cute out the top and the back, i am really struggling on this, even though i have to travel 1200 KM for this
It would take many lessons to cover all the aspects involved in working the top and back. Unfortunately, I cannot give practical lessons in my workshop, but I could answer all the questions you want if you visit Cremona in the future. You can also ask all the questions you like in the comments of each specific video, it's not like talking in person, but it's better than nothing. 🙂
Gracias por tanta generosidad en brindarnos su conocimiento Maestro.- Muchas Gracias !!
I like this systematic way of working.
Thank you for sharing it for everyone! May God bless you always...

I truly enjoy watching you work. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Is there a video showing how you glue the back to the rib structure?
