I still have memories of the guitar that Casio made back in the 80s. So tired of Smart this, Smart that, i this and i that. After years of guitar playing, I finally found a great guitar. It's a 2005 Gibson Les Paul Studio Faded T. The guitar is everything you need to make great sound. It's nothing fancy but sounds amazing. Old school wiring and Burstbucker Pro pickups. No software updates are needed. I've worked in technology long enough to not trust it.
It's a fun travel guitar or for knocking around in the bedroom. I like having effects built in when I'm feeling lazy and goofing around. It's not going to be uour #1 guitar but as a practice guitar, I guess it depends on the price.
I have the Yamaha Silent guitar and I love it. It's a great couch or travel guitar or practice when you need to keep the volume down. It sounds pretty good plugged in as well. GREAT selection of basic effects.
did you have the opportunity to play the original Frame Guitar? I mean the guitar (made by German company Framework Guitars) that Yamaha copied and sold as its own invention way back then... I can guarantee you after having played both, there is a remarkable difference, in favor of the original.
New subscriber, I mainly play uke but keep trying to learn guitar and I've gushed over this guitar and so have so many reviewers of this so it's so refreshing to watch your honesty in this video.👍
Looks interesting? But they definitely improved on this in the nexG2 it's speaker is 80watt over this one at 50watt and has much more features for altering the sounds including deep reverbs and delays and eq too.. But it's a bit pricey at 899euro for the nexG2 which is before shipping costs too? So probably not far of the 950euro mark? Probably a small discount might help attention for the product? But they don't seem very much interested in new customers? Have inquired about the model 2 of this with the deluxe issue which is pretty much what you got for the nextG. Which is a wireless pedal switching board, a charger stand for the guitar and wireless microphone 🎤 and a ear phones and wireless ear lapel mic I think as well? Great instrument. But Enya why so slow to contact new customers? I'm interested? Many thanks for the great video posting bro.. Kind regards Vinn 😎 🎸 👍
It seems like it is the first iteration (version) of what may eventually become quite cool. But, for now, I see it as a toy, or a perhaps decent replacement for a cheap acoustic. I also feel that they need to get a good designer on staff. The visual aesthetics could be sooooo much better.
I bought one last year, unfortunately none in the UK, and I was stung a huge amount by UK customs, after buying one in Australia (also the warranty is invalidated) The instrument is fine, reasonably versatile; the app. isn't, it's only valid for a year, and whilst the Chinese version seems to have all the bangs, and whistles (hard to tell, everything being in chinese) the English version doesn't! Expensive, gimicky, sounds surprisingly good, and, at least theoretically, it's bomb proof, as long as the Russians don't put it to the test 😉 PS a surprisingly good mic!
I bought one six months ago and after the battery discharged one time, I cannot charge it anymore. Sent an email to the company, and they quickly replied and promised a replacement but not sure how smoothly and long this will take... Maybe there is a trick to wake the battery up - I tried everything - holding buttons for a long time, different button combinations, etc. UPDATE: They sent me a brand new one and did not want me to return the non-functioning one. I never expected such an outcome! Total respect! No issues since.
What was the outcome? Seems mine is going through the same thing. Can't get it to turn on. Had it almost 2 years issue free, then let it sit a few months.
This is quite the good-sounding guitar! As you mention, it's hard to tell really clearly if the lapel mic is picking up the sound of the speaker properly. But based on what you're doing (just noodling around, it is something worth considering as a next purchase. Nice!
Please demonstrate and explain in detail how to use the app to shape the guitar sound. Is the effect saved to the phone, the guitar (onboard) or to the cloud? How do you recall the effect for use?
I tend to like dumb guitars, but actually this could be very useful for certain situations. In the studio, it seems like it could be very useful to have handy. Some artists will no doubt really take a liking to the sounds and ease of use.
In your review, you should have explained how to string it up and where it was made. Warranty? And, who knows, it could sound amazing plugged into a tower of old Marshal amps and played by a master shredder?
I wonder how it sounds plugged in like an electric one. Also, it's been a 3 months since you got it. What do you feel about it now assuming you've spent more time on it? Thanks.
The biggest drawback of this guitar is that you are limited to what Enya has provided in terms of sound. While that may be OK for a travel guitar, what I need is more control over the tone. At this point, the guitar is more of a toy you would take with you on vacation than something you would record with.
I wish you would have played several full width chords all the way up the neck to check the intonation. And are the frets stainless or standard. I am on the fence, I think you can bluetooth it to a bigger amp, but my biggest concern is intonation. Good review!
Sorry Tony, I’m a meat & potatoes kinda guitar player. Not for me, and it kind of reminds me of the Martin travel guitar. I’ve seen several Carbon Fiber guitars…Great video as usual. Cheers 🍻
I think that this idea looks a lot like Yamaha’s SLG200 series. The SLG is lacking the speaker, but is more attractive and has direct control of reverb and chorus. For less than $100 more, if you’re looking for a travel guitar, or a “silent” practice instrument, I’d give it serious consideration over the Enya.
The Yamaha requires an amp. This seems more practical as it's all in one. On the other hand, I'd have more faith in the playability and build of a Yamaha.
I have always said, for the rebels we are supposed to be, when it comes to our guitars we are staunch traditionalists. You can make and sell any guitar shape you want but 90 percent are LP, Strat, Tele bodies.
At $539 for the basic kit.its at the low midrange price point. Would you be happier with, say a breedlove import model? Maybe, but if you have a little money to burn this could give you hours of fun in your practice room
Well for a travel guitar the best I ever seen is the Bootlegger Spade you demoed. It could realistically be a guys only guitar. It is even designed to fit on the luggage rack on a plane. You have a choice to get it with or without a whammy. It is conventionally serviceable. You can update the PU's if you want. Not having the electronics built in is better design as they will be out of date in a heartbeat. A nice cheap but impressive NUX headset is far better with endless sounds and zero grief to simply replace. Because the Spade is well thought out ergonomically the only downside is personal ascetics which is very thin ice in a debate. With a price of $600 USD or $700 USD for a whammy it is more money but it's value for money is undeniable.
I'm thinking this guitar is intended to work with an external amp. Maybe a keyboard or vocal amp more so than a guitar amp. Yes, of course it has an internal speaker but if you're going to play a stand alone instrument, get a wood guitar. Electronic instruments have evolved to the point where they are phenomenal at creating *electronic* sound *signals* and putting them into one end of a wire. But getting that signal out of the other end of the wire and transforming it into sound is like a separate technology...one thats been around for decades and doesn't fit on your lap. I cant believe the little built-in speaker was intended to be the primary sound output for this instrument. A lot of electronic stage pianos dont even have built-in speakers. Many do, but that was a sort of "why not?" by the designers...it's obligatory, and maybe primarily for the purpose of providing some vibratory feedback through your fingers while you hear the real music coming out of some studio monitors next to you if not some venue's house system. That said, asthetically, this thing is not inspiring. It looks more like an appliance than an instrument. It has all the sex apeal of a CD player.
Cool idea, but I don't think it would inspire me. Given all the technology in our lives I prefer a simple straight forward guitar. Sometimes less is more.
This would be a better travel guitar if the neck detached by a slidy-click lock at a dovetail type joint. Then the carry case would be travel sized. I doubt this would be allowed as carry on luggage for a flight. The previously released guitars by a different company where it was apple like and had delay, reverb, looper, etc is much better than this. So a big miss imho
This is the wrong guy to critique this gtr ! He is not a true clicknition and he should plug this gtr into a digital amp , possibly a roland jazz chorus amp
Just play the thing dude. I would have loved to hear the different sounds the guitar makes I mean you ran threw the menu but you never played anything but a normal acoustic sound.
I bought one and it’s the ultimate gigging guitar in small venues. That’s what I will use it for.
Interesting
Can you play tracts on it? Play and your guitar with your music tracts?
@@carlosmingeli Absolutely, backing tracks are playable via Bluetooth.

Yes they are replacable like any other guitar!

This would be good for street performers. Especially since you can sing through it through the microphone. I wonder how long the battery lasts?

Good honest review 👏
There seem to be a plethora of smart guitars of one kind or another, but what about us bassists?
Good point.
This man is so entertaining that I watched the whole thing while eating even though I don’t know anything about guitars.
Anyone having issues booting up? Had mine for almost 2 years, left it alone for about 4 months now it won't turn on.

What song is that playing on the intro to this?
Enjoyed the video !
I feel like this would make a good travel guitar maybe. Like take it on a trip.
It is too heavy. Don't ever think about it:)
I wonder how it sounds plugged in like an electric one. Also, it's been a 3 months since you got it. What do you feel about it now assuming you've spent more time on it?
Thanks.
Do you have to charge it for 6 hours to get 45 minutes of playing time?
If the NEXG is "the Tesla of guitars", does that mean it might spontaneously catch fire? Asking for a friend.
Lol
Great review, it´s the next build after the Yamaha Silent guitar :), thanks

"The biggest drawback of this guitar is that you are limited to what Enya has provided in terms of sound."
Same as any other guitar, then?
Use a pedal/effects processor?
You can shape the tones using the app.
The app provides full eq and effects so you can do it all
I love this guitar

The intonation is limited on this guitar as there is really no way to adjust it.
sounds nice.! very interesting
Back to the Drawing board with this one. ;0)

In 1967 a guy by the name Jimmi Marshall Hendrix.
Had set his guitar on fire, so it has been done many times after. So what is so new about this one?
??
Might I suggest canceling the “Crotch cam” and introducing the “Work Bench” cam.
If they could reconfigure the output to replicate the warmth of wood it might be interesting
If you want the warmth of wood you'd better invest in a fireplace.
Do they make a 6 string bass model like that?
Don’t think so.
@@addictedtogear Thanks for replying. I'm looking for a lighter weight instrument, with still great sound.
No sé si será el futuro, pero sí una buena alternativa.
I would want it.
but will it burst into flames too ?
How to found this guitar

I’d like one of those, a Parker guitar and a Steinberger guitar…
That is AMAZING,
They reinvented the wheel and half a guitar popped out.

How very Casio looking.
Coming to a pawn shop near you! 😂
The resale value of travel guitars generally is not high.
It's about time that someone invented an electric guitar because the petrol and diesel types were so cumbersome and polluting.
Looks like the strings are a bit high
They felt fine to me.
@@addictedtogear ok thanks. Just saw some complains from people who bought it saying they were too high, so I wondered. Very interesting review btw

“The Tesla of guitars”? So you have to charge it for 8 hours every time you use it?
No
