      I agree. They also make an entry level sports car for the gent or lady who is making a moderate salary in the base Cayman. It's around $55k here in The States to start that relationship. Now i'm sure i'ma bit biased owning a Porsche, but I have never had a negative experience with the car(s) and have been treated so well by Porsche and my dealership.

    This manual T on standard roads (which let’s admit is 99% of us) is an incredible car. You can drive through the gears, max out, stick it through corners. It’s unreal. It will be a serious collectors car in next 5-10 yrs

      Not quite... the gt2 RS looks every bit as exotic as it is

    • @caymanchronicles4753

      The GT3, GT3RS and GT2RS look like race cars. Striped, loud with a huge wing. That's not stealthy. Nor under the radar.

    • @joegf1739
      @joegf1739 6 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      Of course there are exceptions, but I think as a general rule we can safely say that the 911 fits this description.

    • @caymanchronicles4753
      @caymanchronicles4753 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      As a rule, yes. I was just saying that this was a GT3 touring. A regular GT3 isn't under the radar. But yes. A 911 Carrera doesn't scream supercar. But then again, a base Carrera is slower than my Cayman GTS

    • @ParagMathurmd

      The Turbo S ist better! It is significantly more expensive for a reason (>50 k€). More power (650 PS vs. 510 PS), more pleasant to drive (quieter!) and all-wheel drive. The volume of the GT3 is particularly annoying in the long run - away from the race track. As a daily driver - always the Turbo S. The same applies to the racetrack: A Turbo S with aerodynamics package outperforms any GT3. The Turbo S is incomparably faster.

    • @colin5577
      @colin5577 3 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      @@1q2w3e4r5t6zism By that logic, a Tesla S Plaid is better than anything Porsche makes. The Turbo S is incredible, but at least 60% of the time an enthusiast would prefer a GT3 Touring 100% of the time.

    I prefer this philosophy of the sports car more than the spec driven approach. I would take the GT3 on the exhaust note alone: I hate the trend guards the "juvenile" snap, crackle, pop exhausts.

    • @jetara3082
      @jetara3082 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Totally right, the turbocharged engine seams to make more noise on the overrun than on full throttle, it's a downer. Don't get me wrong, the "T" is a great car, friend of mine just bought one and the low pressure 3.0 Turbo is the better engine than the "S" one for feeling less turbocharged...still the 4.0 is unbeatable in terms of Drama and awesomeness.

    • @dln.sweeney
      @dln.sweeney 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's all software tweaking to try and make turbo'd engines sound exciting. Car manufactures just map them so they pop and crackle because otherwise they'd sound really dull.
      That 4.0L has to be one of the best engines on sale right now, I hope they keep it for the 992 GT3.

      HyperLeafBlower what about the almighty huracan with its naturally aspirated 5.2l v10.
      It cracks and pops too. That thunderous v10 sounds a lot better than any Porsche on the planet. Do you dislike it as well?

    • @dln.sweeney
      @dln.sweeney 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Not sure what I said to give you the impression I disliked the R8/Huracan engine, I'm glad they're still selling it. To be honest though it doesn't sound better than the GT3 4.0 to my ears, especially at 9k rpm. But beyond that there are few other engines on sale now that are as free revving or pull as hard at the top end. A few years ago no OEM would sell an engine with tolerances like that because they wouldn't be able to make it reliable enough. With the rigid valvetrain and dry sump it's basically a racing engine that you can use everyday.

The Carrera T has gotten a lot of hate from what I've seen for being the 911 nobody asked for, but I don't think its that bad. However, in the company of the GT3 Touring, its easily overshadowed. The Carrera T is a brilliant car, but the GT3 is in a different league altogether. While I do miss the naturally aspirated flat sixes, Porsche has done a very good job of engineering their non-Turbo turbo engines. The Carrara T sounds lovely. I like the crackles and the slight turbo noise. The 4.0 in the gt3 is still my favorite but the T’s still sounds good and has more tuning potential. I couldn’t afford either one but if I could it would be hard to decide between the two. Most likely the gt3 but the fact you’d have enough money left over with the T to either do some mods or buy another car is pretty compelling. Either way, I don’t think either would disappoint.

    pretty sure the real world price difference between these two cars in the UK (once the dealer has took his cut) is actually the cost of another Carrera T, great video though

    These cars are not analogue. The only analogue thing about them is the manual gearbox, and even that delivers the power from an electronically controlled Engine to the wheels through a sophisticated stability control system and active suspension system, with the front wheels controlled by an electronic power steering system. Very analogue.

    why the price of carrera T is harder to depreciate over time than the gt3 itself when i look up in the used car website to do some survey.

    8/10 of the video about the GT3. How often do you go 0-60,push to 9000 prm and all that stuff that looks tasty on paper. Hows the T from 30 to 70mph or 50 to 110mph? Because THAT`S where the fun is at 90% of the time and they didn`t even touch on that.

    Forget the £30k price difference. You can only get your hands on a used GT3 Touring and £160k is the going rate today. Suddenly it's £75,000 difference, which makes decisions so much more difficult, or takes the Touring out of most enthusiasts budgets.

    I’m not some young kid nor am I someone that is obsessed with the latest and greatest technology. I still use headphones with wires attached. Why, because it sounds much better and there are fewer tech hiccups along the way. So why for the past two years has every diehard car enthusiast claimed to want a manual stick shift. It doesn’t make you a better driver. And I get it, it’s the experience of driving just like I enjoy using manual focus lenses on my cameras because it improves my enjoyment taking photos. Yet the actual enjoyment I received from driving is the feeling from the cars handling. Becoming more accurate and taking time to learn how the car response to road conditions. Learning from laps and becoming better at driving. But the possible enjoyment and experience from using a manual gearbox just seems like a little child saying vroom vroom as they pertain to drive a stationary car. The actual feedback from the car doesn’t come from the shift knob. A pro driver will lose anywhere between 1.5 to 2 seconds per lap while using a manual gearbox. This also causes the suspension to lunge because of the momentary 0.2 seconds there is less traction/power go into the wheels causing unbalance. Because the car is less balanced you’re unable to take corners or exit even though you’re not shifting in the corners you will generally downshift before entering a quarter. And the balance of the car while entering the corner also affects exiting of said corner. If you’re driving during wet conditions those 0.2 seconds while shifting could cause issues. So even if lap times are not your concern the feedback from the car all comes from the steering wheel, and general vibrations sitting in the seat, obviously. The whole idea that you would want to take your hands off the steering wheel as a benefit in someway just seems insane to me. If you have a vintage car with a manual gearbox, that’s great. I can see the enjoyment of the total experience. But if you’re spending so much money on a car because it has some of the highest performance current technology could develop and then choosing something that limits the performance just so you can go vroom vroom is ridiculous. While I’m sure this will get lots of hate responses, and I don’t care. This is just my opinion and you can have your own. Thank God the Internet allows me to share it without hurting others.

      When I want DSG I take the GTi. Manual, the Rado.

    • @LegendInThaMakin

      You don’t get it.
      People who love manuals don’t give a damn about laptimes. The shifting is simply therapeutic and more enjoyable for them. It personalized the car and adds excitement.
      If you love autos that’s cool, not shaming you for it but I’m not a race car driver so these seconds I’m losing during shifts don’t mean anything to me.
      I’ve owned 2 m3’s. The first one was a dct and it was fun but after a while it just seemed like just a car. Just my way of transportation. When I bought my second m3 it was a manual and for some reason I love this car so much more. I start smiling as I’m approaching it in the parking lot. I look back at it when I’m leaving it after a fun drive.
      I can’t describe it.. the manual just makes me feel connected. The autos always eventually bore me and turn any car into just a car but that’s just me though.

      I agree completely. Seems like a very popular fad right now to evangelize about the manual transmission. Ad nausea. Probably because it’s seen as an endangered species much like the naturally aspirated engine, or I guess eventually any engine. But the difference is you don’t see the journalists telling you DONT buy an electric car. I intend to have an electric daily - hopefully the Taycan, but will be keeping my petrol powered naturally aspirated GT3 for fun drives. And I am happy with the PDK. Buy a manual if you want one, but damn well buy a PDK if you want that. There’s a reason both exist. The whining about manual manual manual is getting old. Anyone who prefers manual intends to buy a manual doesn’t need to be reminded about it for every new car. Just accept the fact that some people prefer paddle shifters or automatic and don’t want a third pedal. And by the way - automatics and DCTs help petrol powered cars get better fuel economy. If you want engines to stick around longer maybe you should be glad so many people chose PDK and lower emissions overall.

      Society likes to takes risks big and small for pleasure my friend: it's the same as those individuals who climb up really high poles (unanchored) in pursuit of adrenaline rushes; very engaging for them. Often the more instrumentally inclined a person is (their kinesthetic senses are strongly connected with their auditory senses) those individuals find it very addicting. Heritage & nostalgia come into play. Less so, but still a reason, manual cars are more economical to (initial base prices are cheaper): recently my dad whose very familiar with driving a manual car (cause he was born in the 60's) was short over a grand cash to buy a new daily commuter (he was looking at an automatic Passat) so instead he bought the manual version (which he was happy to just be able to afford).

      I wouldn't have an automatic 911. No way. I've owned a 928 which was an auto and brilliant, and I had a golf GTi with DSG because it was perfectly suited to the car so I'm not some hipster traditionalist, but, sometimes, you just want analogue not digital. In a 911 it's about the heritage, the engineering, the old race cars we grew up watching, the perfectly timed blip of the throttle on the down shift. It's an emotional connection to the skill of driving.
      And when you take that away, you take a bit of the fun and the skill away too.
