I'm curious as to why these 'comedians' want to dis vegans? Is it because they're embarrassed for being hypocritical? They love animals yet continue to eat them and endorse animal cruelty!
Yes, I think that's part of it. I also suspect they know it's an easy way to make money as their audiences have a similar sense of guilt, and laughter is an act of collective catharsis
Vegans are an easy target because most people feel comfortable with that discrimination. Case in point, my NHS trust is denying us the opportunity to have a Vegan staff network and were unmoved even when I directly pointed out the discrimination. Would never happen with other minority groups.
But I love the way she pointed out about a fat guy trying to be an expert on what to eat. He should incorporate that insight into his routine. Comedians are funny when they take the piss out of themselves and it save on them being vitriolic and vindictive towards others. Maybe it's just payback because he got bullied at school?
It’s because they can. It’s still sociably acceptable to make fun of vegans. What other groups can you still get away with? I love comedy I don’t want to die, so when I walk through the door of a comedy club, I have to lot take it personally if something targets me as a vegan or some other way. Comedy is a great thing about being human, but we can’t get offended or we have to cancel stand-up. In my opinion.
"Hey, try this smoked venison." "No thanks." "What, you don't like venison?" "No, I don't eat venison." "What, are you a vegan or something?" "As a matter of fact I am." "Why do you vegans always drone on about not eating meat?"
@@ceeemm1901 What? I'm not a meat eater. The above scenario demonstrates a simple reality. The reasons vegans mention their preferences is because meat eaters keep asking them if they are.

I'm 43. Vegan for 10 years. I run 10k in less than 50min and do supersets of pullups and pushups with weighted vests. My trygloceride has dropped by 80 points, as well as my sugar and cholesterol. Coming from a family with vast history of heart conditions, vegan whole plant food diet simply saved my life and kept me away from medication (which the doc suggested 8 years ago)
I didn't do it for health reasons, but I have more energy than I know what to do with. Comedians may know their audience but sometimes that compromises their statements on reality
That's a really good point about vegan comedians being acceptable when they joke about vegans. It's similar to what is said about jewish comedians and black comedians: they're allowed to tell jokes about their own groups - and they're also brilliantly funny. But no white comedian would dream of making fun of black people - no white comedian I'd pay to see anyway!
I think people are secretly embarrassed to be eating meat and someone making them laugh about it is a release of emotion. Easier to laugh than feel ashamed.
