Thanks a bunch for sharing. Mark at vortec pro I think gets arounnd 650+ with the 781 's on a 496 with a 238 isky roller. But i think he spends a fair amount of time on the heads. Might give Nick at clay smith cams a call. They have really fast service and their cams for the same duration are well over 600 lift. We have had great success with their products. And your talking to the guy on the phone , who is most likely gunna grind your cam..Have a great day!

I should have mentioned the timing,, I'm not playing with the timing on these combinations. For optimal horsepower, we just set it at 38° on every single big block. Because that's what all the Medium compression hydraulic roller, big blocks want give or take a degree.

Hey Nick, love the channel! I found Mark's channel Vortec Pro a couple of years ago and it seems he came out with alot of videos then there was a break then he came back with 2 videos then nothing else? I binge watched all his stuff, i really liked how he explained and talked you through the thought process and how the prepare an iron headed stock crank, rod combo, i hope ge comes back with more videos. Anyway, your content is really resonates with me and is really insightful. I do have a question/suggestion for a future build, i live in central Indiana and E-85 is everywhere around me and you stated you are also a Midwestern so how about a high compression build similar to what you do but with at least 12:1 compression or more. I also really liked the poor man's 396 stroker, more of those please. Anyway just wanted to take a moment and let you know what your doing is very much appreciated.

Thanks for the compliment thank you so much for watching,, The only reason i'm using solid rollers in this test is just because it's what i've got on the shelf and it's easy,, For street strip use, I would always go hydraulic roller. A good name brand like Howard's. But I would never recommend flat tappet. They're a disaster,, The metal that use on those cams. Now you are guaranteed to have a flat cam very quickly,
