We (JJJ) went to see Stacey Thomas talk about The Revels last October (poss Halloween?!) at a talk with Margaret Meyer, because we'd not long buddy-read The Witching Tide! If I remember correctly, they were talking about Witch-hunters and the practice of witch-hunting, and the fact that they both wanted to recentre those who had been persecuted as women (primarily), rather than refer to them as witches.
