I do wish they had developed Sarah though. When she shows up in a later episode it's always to try and get with Jez again as if the writers has no new ideas for her. Why not have her interact with other characters like Sophie [outside the brief scene in Series 6 'The party']?

Mark isn't close to any of his family, although Sarah could still have turned up uninvited several times, so it's puzzling that she wasn't in it more often. She's in 1 ep each of s3, 6, 7 & 8. Sarah's one of several characters who are in PS for far too few eps. The only character who's in PS for too long is Dobby.
She is absolutely my favourite character who shows up only a few times. She definitely deserved at least double the amount of appearances. She's also probably the most attractive female character on the show to me, believe it or not.

Hence why we have Suze dating a monk when Nancy is religious and living with Michelle [which was going to be Nancy living with Toni!]. The later episodes have had more time to work on making Suze her own character, hence probably why we never see Michelle or Stu again.

It's extremely weird that there was offensive taken to Michelle coercing Jez into eating her out when there's a straight up rape scene later in the series. Poor Jez, nobody deserves that. Factor in the mugging, drugging, etc., series 3 is pretty traumatic.
Probably was different executives etc in later episodes than at this point. Part of the reason the 'Paris' episode was rejected was that it was to bleak.
As for the POV shots for the muggers, I always thought it would be funny to have a one-off Super-Hans POV episode. But then again it would be super gimmicky and (not trying to sound like a dick here, but can’t think of another adjective) ‘American’. Like an episode of Its Always Sunny.
PS eps should have been longer. There isn't a rule that sitcoms eps have to be between 20 & 30 m, although the large majority are. OFAH has many eps which are much longer.
Theres no rule, but I think the more recent Curb and Arrested Development episodes show that when sitcom episodes dont really have any rules around length, it often aligns with a decrease in humour. This may be coincidental. But I dislike this Netflix thing of every episode being a slightly different length, meaning the writers arent being disciplined in the way they have to be for television.

Big Suze worked out well as it invited a world of posh jokes which every British comedy needs. But Michelle was a waste... a clear Toni substitute for an episode that was supposed to be Toni's swansong. Funnily enough the actress who played her also did the voice for Lara Croft in the original Tomb Raider game.

They probably think 2 was the best because 1 was 'work in progress' and 3 had a lot of re-working due to Toni and Nancy dropping out, so 2 was the smoothest journey for them.
