I like how Mario Kart 8 redid the entire track. I know this video has it so that it resembles the original, but one thing unique about Mario Kart 8's style of retro track is how it gives it a whole new vibe while still retaining the nostalgic aspects of the retro stages, which is a win-win for me.
***** Actually a good chunk of MK8's retro tracks were made to only feel new and not nostalgic at all so that the kiddies don't get bored with the old designs for tracks like N64 Rainbow Road or GBA Ribbon road for example but there are a good amount with both that fresh feel and that nostalgia feel like Wii Wario's goldmine or DS Cheep cheep beach for example!
@@RyGuy1197 See, this is exactly why this new generation sucks. They cut a part of n64 Rainbow Road and only made it 1 lap because nobody has an attention span anymore, not even for a video game. You know how awesome it would have been to lap the MK7 Rainbow Road 3 times? I can play a track for 6+ minutes, I think that is the purpose of harder tracks.
I know the folks worked to make this Wii-ported version of Ribbon Road look awesome, but the Ribbon Road in Mario Kart 8 looks really extraordinary! :D
This version of the track will be missed forever ;( (atleast by me cause many others seem to not care about nostalgia anymore) Anyway R.I.P original GBA Ribbon road
MrChallenger94 Your not alone you see the reason this track will be missed for me is because i never got the chance to play this version of the track with any of my friends since my GBA cable slot broke after a defaulty wire i got once and since this and Cheese land never came back as a retro before MK8 i never got to play them still with anyone either in their original designs/concepts so it was sad to say the least cause those two were among the best!!! I guess sooner or later i'll have to download the homebrew channel to my wii just to play this again!!!
Yeah i mean the MK8 version is perfect for a Brand new track though but since Ribbon road didn't come back in MKDS, Wii or 7 i was really hoping to see that design come back first in MK8 and then if they wanted to change it like they did they could've done so with the dlc after it came back as this concept first kinda like what they did bringing GCN Baby park to DS first as the original and then afterwards brought it back as dlc with major detail improvements and such to MK8.
MrChallenger94 In all honesty, MK8's version of Ribbon Road doesn't feel like the track at all. I prefer the original appearance over the new one. I'll go as far as to say the Custom Wii design here is better.
Btw Excellent Job on the Custom track for this!!! I wish i had Homebrew channel or whatever it's called to play this and GBA Cheese land custom track designs on MKW with my friends and brothers!!! :D
MK8 did too much to the track. The theme of the room was a good idea, but it really wasn't what Ribbon Road was originally going for. What happened to the water? This version is the way it should have been.
Ah, I didn't know the speedometer was included. The only issue is I'm searching for a code version of one since the only version of CTGPR that supports dolphin does not have a speedometer. (I'm attempting to TAS etc.). Sorry for the inconvenience. Also, thanks for replying so quickly.
This is surprisingly more faithful to the original than the Mario kart 8 version coming out.

Actually it's the same, it's just that MK8 one got different colours, backgrounds and anti-gravity.

They ruined the musical track :P it sound like a beach rather than present and ribbons in a living room

Matt Roberge yes but it's more fun to race on the MK8 version
MisakiChan That's true. The MK8 version had more options which did make a race more fun.

This is a 11/10 remake! Not like that unacurrate version of Wii U!
YOU DONT UNDERSTANDS HOW MK8 AND MK8DX RETROTRACKS ARE MADE THEY ARE MADE TO FELL NEW
people's tastes can change, now i believe mk8's version is just as good as the original

i probably was 4 years ago lol
This is so much different
i guess alot of fans are trying to make there custom home made courses of this track but now its back on mario kart 8.
good job. I wonder if anyone has made a Mario kart 8 version for Mario kart wii
MrBnsftrain Mario kart DS has
Well your in luck
What is the music from?
It's the Ribbon Road theme from Mario Kart: Super Circuit.
I honestly think that this version handled the abstract background better than Mario Kart 8 did.
I prefer what MK8 did with the track.
Ivoroon Θ Agreed, I've kinda changed my mind since then.

MK8 made the background into something cleaver than tangible. It's better now than it was back then.
It's like you fall with your arm up
*applauds* FINALLY! A Ribbon Road remake that _DOSEN'T_ suck! *cough cough* Mario Kart 8 *cough cough*.
What the hell is wrong with Ribbon Road in Mario Kart 8? It's awesome!
You disgust me. How does an almost flat and nearly mechanically featureless track compare to a more characterized and polished remake!?

REALLY? YOU ACTUALLY THINK SO?
Question - how did you get the speedometer in the bottom? The only code I can find is the one that replaces the milliseconds :(
